- Our homestead pigs are getting a huge upgrade for their pig pen. Today we greatly expand the living area for our 3 young Idaho Pasture Pigs and let them explore in the grass and wallow.

Living Traditions Homestead is all about living a simple and sustainable way of life. We started as a small urban homestead in Gilbert, AZ and after the city grew up around us, decided it was time leave corporate America and take a big leap of faith by moving our family to the Missouri Ozarks.

Piggies seem so content.... completely unconcerned lying in their pen all in a row, sacked out and sunning...all while their caretakers work away at even better digs for them! Loved watching them eat the grass. They made it sound so fresh and delicious. What a great plug that would be for eating your greens.

I got such a kick out of these pigs just sleeping away without a care in the world with the noise of the tractor..it put a smile on my face..
Pigs are such simple carefree animals. And pigs really enjoy life, if they're living in a nice place such as in this video with lots of space to run, grass, mud wallers, and being fed fresh vegetables. And being treated with kindness, affection, and made to feel safe. Sadly, some factory farms out there are the complete opposite of every one of those things I just named. And those poor pigs are living in pain and terror. Pigs have a very wide range on the emotional scale, they can feel absolute joy or horrible terror, and it all depends on what's happening to them. It's why pigs need to have great things happen to them, a happy comfortable home full of kindness and completely safe and free from harm

What i love about your homesteading is the love you give your animals including your meat animals, it truly shows the kind of people you are, I ran my farm the same way, every animal was to have A great life right up to harvest, it is the only way in my eyes, and truth is you end up with better meat better ethics and its fantastic values to set for the kids, God said love all his creatures big and small, so that's what we do and clearly your family dose also, thanks for being enjoyable to watch. Happy pigs!! You two take such good care of your animals.. You are pretty much poster-children for homesteading and humane meat animal production.. I have learned so much from these videos. After watching the home-processing and butchering of your pigs video, I turned to my husband and said “See? We can do this!” We both hunt, so processing a larger carcass is nothing new to us, but for some reason, a pig seemed more intimidating. Thanks for all of the good information and examples we’ve gleaned from your videos...
