I also talk about ridiculously heavy babies and the time I was asked to hold one for 5 minutes and my life almost changed forever.

You definitely need to show yourself on camera when doing Zoom court so that there is no question it is you participating in the trial. One judge in Atlanta even requires your Zoom ID/device ID be your name. If things don’t match you are not credited for appearing.
Some courts not only use Zoom but also have official UA-cam channels since courts are supposed to be open to the public. Some wipe content at end of day, some don’t. The difference even between states … it’s up to each judge and judges in the same state can do things differently. There are also legal (ie, lawyers) content creators who provide color commentary.
Amazing the number of people with suspended/revoked licenses who don’t stop to think of calling in from a park.
PS: Judge Simpson ROCKS when it comes to dignifying a defendant (ie, not ripping someone a new one) when giving them an appropriate check on their comprehension of reality. If you ever want to see him in his prime, search for his Moorish Sovereign Citizen videos.

This was the first I heard of that update. And, I did not see it coming. It sounded like enough of a mess after the first update!
It was wild how the story went back and forth for a few days and got progressively more insane.

I like Judge Simpson, this was such a plot twist. And the way that Simpson tore him up in court was just lovely.
How about the case of domestic violence with a restraining order where the guy zooms in from his victim's house. And the prosecutor recognized the house and immediately sent the cops.
Oh yeah. I remember that one. That was wild.

My favorite Zoom hearing of all time was the lawyer that appeared as a cat on camera and said he was prepared to move forward with the case, as a cat. Said lawyer also made the statement, "Your honor, I am not actually a cat". Pure gold.

I work in a courthouse. We're mostly back to in-person appearances but we still have some "zoom" hearings and they have been WILD. 🍿

The zoom meetings make sense for some things or lawyers/clients in diff states, but I'm sure you miss a lot zooming in, like the chit chat and repore building. Also how the heck do you spell reporte?? Edit - got it, rapport. Man spell check has made me dumb.

You forgot my favorite part... When dude was pulling into the parking spot, in his happiest and most chipper voice, he goes, "I'm pulling in riiiiiiiiiiiiiight now..." and then parks.... And he had this proud look on his face like he was looking all good and happy and responsible LOL! When the judge said he was driving to his lawyer, his face just DROPPED LOL! He was like, "Oh, no! Oh, no! Oh, no!" just like over and over like he had just been blindsided by it LOLOLOL!
The week after that case, Judge Cedrick Simpson had a theft

Josh, here's part of the reason why the mother had so little difficulty with the baby, when you had so much: Mama's been picking up that baby since the baby was smaller, and the baby's been getting bigger everyday, leading to muscle growth everyday, so a little bit harder for workout each day.
The baby might be more cooperative with mama too
And you just explained why raising my puppy into a big barrel-chested Rottweiler I could still pick him up morning noon and night, but now over a year after he passed I strain when picking up new adult rescue who weighs less. Whew! Thought my arms were having a problem😂

I recently dated a single mom and discovered this situation as well. I'm decently strong and she's like 5 ft nothing but her muscle structure has adapted to handle holding her baby for a really long time where is mine just adapted to lift weights occasionally😂

The neck arch! Bruh, that is crazy! I had my niece keep doing it when I tried holding her as a newborn. I sat down and laid her on my chest like a little froggy. She quit. Took a nap. 😅

Something that I love about these bits from you is that you don't see a headline and write a punchline, you actually research the case, or the tiktok video, or whatever, and provide commentary. Yeah, that's necessary to give the audience context, but you could be making lazy jokes and instead you actually always know details.

Judge Simpson's Court is pure comedy. The folx that end up in it are hilarious like the one lady who failed her driver's test like 10 times and wouldn't get her license back until she learned to parallel park. By the time she got to hearing # 5, the whole court was rooting for her, including the judge. "You're back again?"
As a man with no ass and seven younger siblings, I’m very well versed in the hip-hike and I’m so glad that another man has brought up how difficult it is to hold a baby in your hip, with no hips. 😂😂😂
My mom has forever said that a woman can always carry her own child. My son got sick once and her was about 95 pounds at the time. He was 12 or 13. I’m 130, and I was able to pick him up and carry him.

The adrenaline kicks in. Nature says, "This gonna hurt later, but we gotchu!" Love does amazing things to our bodies in so many different ways.
My parents are in their 70s, and I'm over 200 lbs, so I doubt they could carry me, but if I gotta fireman carry Dad outta the house, I'll do it. He had a heart attack a year ago and was able to walk outside to the ems stretcher, which wouldn't fit, but I'd have been ready to carry him. I had the adrenaline! 😅 He's okay after a heart cath. Quick thinking and calm acting kept him safe.

That judge was like: c'mon give me something i can work with.
I knew a guy that was sent to 30 days in jail for a suspended license cause he had some prior driving convictions. But his license was suspended due to a clerical error and when the evidence from the BMV was brought to the prosecutor he said tough. Guy was scared with a threat of 6 months in jail and panicked and took the deal. That prosecutor should be disbarred for that. Clear prosecutorial misconduct.
Funniest part was the attorney still asking for a dismissal which led the judge to say but he's currently driving, and we're here for a suspended license. I'm going to need him to report to jail at 7pm tonight 😂
Yeah that court appointed attorney was really trying hard to get him off. Props to her for even trying, the part where she was like “I’ll speak to you later” probably to yell at him lol.

I have seen quite a few of these cases on UA-cam and all of them have been bench trials by a Judge, no juries. But I agree with you, if I had to show up in person to serve on a jury and the Defendant got to attend via cyberspace, I would not be happy about that. 👍🧓
What’s awesome is when you can tell that a judge is stalling for time, letting the defendant talk and talk… Until you can hear the police knocking on the person’s door to take them to jail.
Hot tip for jury duty: dress like shit and the lawyers will probably block you.

I've watched a great deal of Judge Simpson, and from what I've seen, he is a very thorough and solution-oriented judge. Even with people who are unbelievably dense or obnoxious- he really tries to make sure that they get a fair shake. He also handles landlord/tenant cases, and I respect how hard he tries to help people who are in really hard spots. Even when he's a little grouchy.
When he puts his head in his hands, something good is about to happen. 😅
I like how he casually will say his bailiffs name mid sentence. Somebody going to jail 😂

Not only was this genius of the first water driving while suspended, he was driving, while using his phone, while suspended, and out on bond for previously driving with a suspended license.
I once dated a guy who had his drivers license suspended. I offered to take him places whenever he needed, he had other friends, who offered to take him places whenever he needed.
He got arrested for driving with a suspended license again. And this time he went to jail. And I decided I did not need to have that kind of stupid in my life. 😂😂😂😂

@@blueshepard1656It's probably an ID card. They give them to people who can't/don't want to drive, but still need some form of legal identification.
It doesn't allow you to drive, but it acts like a driver's license anytime you need to show a form of ID. Very easy to get, no tests required.

In Minnesota a condition of attending a Zoom hearing is having your camera on. However, there is an option to call in to court on the phone. If you call in, no camera is necessary. I have never heard a judge say "Wow". Ever.

I know the wife of the judge. She was my daughter's preschool teacher.
Other funny zoom court moments, a doctor zoomed into his court hearing in the middle of a surgery, and another guy was caught zooming in from the same house as the victim for a DV case that had a restraining order 🤦🏾♀️

My husband went through the same crap with a suspended/not suspended license. It was a MESS. We are still dealing with it and the infraction was in 2018.
Depending on where this was, there is a separate code section for driving without a license (as in you never got drivers license) versus driving on a suspended license (you have a drivers license but you did something to get it suspended like DUI or didn’t pay a traffic fine). People often get them confused.
The place where he lives suspends people's licenses for the non payment of child support. If you don't have a license, it's your ability to possess one that is suspended. When they charged him, they must have noticed the suspension without the fact that he never had one showing up right away.

That hip thing must be an instinct. I'm female and it just happens when I hold babies. I don't have my own kids, or big hips, but I just start bouncing them and walking around anytime I hold one. 🤷🏼

Did you babysit growing up/take care of younger siblings? We’re socialized from childhood (dolls, anyone?) to carry babies. I know multiple men who literally never carried a baby until they had one of their own, which just blows my mind.

A vile ex of mine drove for decades without a license, and I don't mean to be narcissistic but... the resolution of this whole affair feels like a personal gift. Josh just confirmed that moms in general, and my wife in specific, are super-humans. One time, my wife opened the front door while carrying the baby, a car seat, and a pizza. I'm still amazed to this day. I think the car seat even had a sippy cup, and nothing was spilled.

I used to get great amusement from watching ppl try to help my daughter on the playground. She was always in the 85+ percentile for weight, but she looks slim. The look on they're faces when they tried to lift her without proper force 😅😅😅
