    Where's the best place to get a painting approved or carving? I think I've got a painting very similar to that but in water and an old church but no signature I can find.

      Try your local auction house, but I'm going to guess thta an unsigned watercolour is a pretty low value item, unless it can be shown to be something special.

    It seems to me a bit unsatisfying that the appraiser did not go into any detail about how much value the painting lost because of the cleaning lady's damage to it, what its value would have been without the glaringly visible damage. It seems to me that the appraiser attributed the entire lessened value to the painting's more "mass produced" original quality rather than were it a painting solely by the hand of Grimshaw and with finer intentional detailing. Alas and alack...
