That has to be the best haul of gifts for the least amount of money. All three of your sons plus your husband are going to have so much fun. Ignore anyone who comes at you. It's never a good idea to get into debt for christmas toys, kids play with for 10 minutes, then forget about it. Meanwhile, you're left trying to cover the debt for the next 6 to 12 months. No one ever remembers what they got for Christmas after a while, but they remember family fun.
I absolutely love this. All my grandchildren are receiving second hand Lego that I found on marketplace this year. They will grow up understanding that there’s nothing wrong with receiving and giving things that aren’t brand new and it doesn’t have to be “tat”! You’re an inspiration.
Love this. We earn good coin and we still buy mostly second hand because our planet is BRIMMING with things purchased at Christmas and ditched before the next one.
It’s not what’s under the tree that children will remember but who was around the tree. In 5 years time ask a child what they got for Christmas they won’t remember, but they will remember who was there and the games and silliness they shared!
Grown adults unable to understand or accept that people have different ways of doing things 😅 the judgy comments are just wild to me! Loved watching this, some fab ideas ❤
Great gifts. I always buy second hand gifts for my girls, who are now teenagers and have done since they were small. We don't have a big budget, but buying second hand allows us to stretch our money so much further. I'm sure your children will love their gifts x
My daughter loves the switch. She's 12, and we mostly buy the games second-hand we've had ours a couple of years. We normally buy a board game, always a book, she's having a few bits of makeup, and she wants a just dance game for the switch. We love a big dinner then sitting in front of the fire playing a board game then a film.xx
At first i thought poor kids especially when i thought about what i used to buy my own children for Christmas and the mass of presents they had to open on Christmas morning. After watching i changed my mind and now understand what a blessing it must be to not purchase new items and not worry about where the money is coming from. My children are all adults now and i have 6 grandchildren and the world is a very different place, my thought process is very different and it definitely makes me feel guilty when i think of all the stuff i bought that added to land fill. I did and still do donate to charity but we have too much waste. You will have happy children on Christmas day 😊
Second hand gifts are perfectly fine to give as well. Although personally i would mix it up with some new stuff as well :) When i was a kid i got a lot of second hand gifts as well, most of them were..since my dad worked at a recycling/second hand store. Mixed up with some new stuff as well. And i was perfectly fine with it and thankfull for all i've got. And still, when i am an adult, i just love to go to second hand stores and scatter around and see if there are any good deals :D
Some great ideas thank you for sharing again. Weve got a mix of things for our 3 children this year some new, some second hand. I did get a few books thays looked like they had never been read for 50p from my local charity shop for the kids which i know they will love.
It is interesting how in British culture we have this idea that second-hand gifts are tacky or in poor taste. I think this is both an outdated and classist interpretation of second-hand gifting. Second-hand gifts are wonderful. Not only do you save money, you prevent items going to landfill, you put money back into the hands of everyday people and you help the environment by not contributing to more tat being produced. My mum and I already decided that from now on we're only getting each other second-hand gifts. We're sick of how expensive everything is and don't really wanna support the system anymore. Great video!
We have 3 daughters (adults now) & 6 grandchildren, we save all year to get them basically everything they ask for, they’re only little once so we let them enjoy the holidays, we enjoy seeing them opening the gifts, I sometimes buy second hand items throughout the year but not for Birthdays or Christmas, I probably overspend but it’s so worth it seeing them happy
12:52 your little ones are going to love the switch! We got ours last Christmas and it’s always fun getting new games and getting the family around to have some fun! ❤
I’m a single mum of 6, now my youngest is 17 and oldest 35, I homeschooled all of them exclusively until they each went to university after they were between 19 and 21. My 5th one didn’t go to uni as he dived straight into his career. The youngest is still too young but is leaning towards quantum physics. I have loved accidentally finding your video, watching it has brought it all back because this is exactly the same as how I did it each year, and listening to my children sharing stories from their childhood experiences, Christmas etc, they had the very best childhood. Sometimes I hear them talking and I feel like wow, because finding something low cost, secondhand, individual to each one but knowing everything is shared as a whole, it is a beautiful experience. I still have my four sons living with me as the two oldest ones came to stay during the madness of 2020 and decided they love being together as a whole so much they want to keep it. So we are still doing it all and that makes me feel so proud. You are a fantastic mum. I’m in London so its great to “meet” here briefly, and knowing how much of a wonderful childhood you are giving your children fills me with so much joy because now mine are much older than yours, I can tell you how absolutely magical it is that they value absolutely everything, now and as memories. Happy Christmas beautiful. Love Helen xx
Something I like to do is to buy a charity gift for my children, such as Adopting an animal, it’s not second hand but at least the money is going to a good cause and it’s educational.
These are such lovely gift ideas! We have very different budgets but I can appreciate and understand that every family is different and also does Christmas differently ❤ Love to you all!
One thing for the switch that is useful is the joy con dock charger, not too expensive £15 on Amazon. It’s just means whilst you’re not playing the switch the joy cons are charging . Nothing worse than coming to play and the joy con batteries are low . X
@@ameliasfrugallife Hey! No hate to the original commenter but you don’t need that piece of tech as the joy cons charge in the dock whilst the switch is charging. Your dock will most likely always be plugged into the TV so just get into the habit of when docking it, put the joy cons back in and both the system and the joy cons will charge at the same time. It saves you £15! We have had ours now since last Christmas and never had an issue with dying joy cons, they have really good battery life and you will only run into issues if the kids forget to dock the switch with the controllers or somehow misplace them xx
The large circle does go with the ring adventure. You use it for some of the exercises and strap a piece of the controller into a holder that goes on your leg to sense your movements. It didn’t come with the switch-it was extra and expensive 😊
I absolutely enjoyed your vlog. The Duplo regifting, amazing. And all the charity shop finds. Just a fyi. The switch shop do amazing holiday offers, after Christmas day. You can get games for under £1. It would be worth looking.
One note on second-hand Switch/Switch controllers - there's pretty consistently a problem with the left JoyCon in the older controller sets. If yours starts acting up, Nintendo will usually repair/replace the left JoyCon for free.
Great job ! I just posted my video as well very similar. Christmas should not be so much about the gifts but everything else. The gifts should be a fun, added bonus. Wasting money every year on expensive presents only leads to negative outcomes for everyone.
I dont see any harm in second-hand gifts when they are little and not old enough to know any different, but as boys get older, you will find you need to up your game plan! I have 2 teenage boys, and the stuff the modern teenage boy is into is usually on the pricey side.... even a football top costs £69 these days. Just prep yourself for this.
