Glad you're not letting other people get to you. It was because of a youtuber talking about getting her kids second hand gifts that inspired me to do the same. It benefits everyone!
Great vlog Amelia. As a Granny and Grandad to 3 gorgeous munchkins we (I) put together a little photo book together for each of them. These are full of all the fun we have had together that year. They spend hours looking at them. One of them will soon be a teenager, but he loves them. I have a feeling I will still be doing them when he is in his 20's!! They also get a book each (all avid readers) and we then arrange an outing, usually at February half term. More photo memories for next year!! Currently needle felting some little quirky toadstools for my friends. ( As a spinner and weaver there is plenty of fibre/floof in the house) Its so much fun creating for others. Happy Christmas!
You and your family have really nailed the true meaning of the season. Money & gifts are not it. No one remembers every gift they've ever gotten, especially kids. They WILL remember the traditions and fun time you've spent with them. Time is the only thing you spend that you can't get more of. You & your husband will be long gone, your kids will be senior citizens, and they'll still remember with fondness the timeless Christmases of the past that they had. Happy holidays!
hiya Hun, I have 4 kids and uk based . I do 2nd hand gifts not all but also use bargain shops like home bargains etc. I also ask family instead of gifts I ask them to pay for our panto trip and the other half a another festive trip. I am a true believer of experiences . My kids have a few more gift than you showed but I do have a budget and save all year using park savings. I also go down the things they need route such as body sprays, pants ,socks and slippers etc xx
I also mostly only buy second hand gifts. Many are new but sold at the thrift store. And it is so much better for our pocket book and the environment. You are actually doing a great thing for your children’s future 😊. Don’t listen to others who are negative. Christmas is so much more than gifts.
I think you are so right, I enjoy the Christmas tree, the films on tv and don’t buy more decorations, if I do it’s 2nd have. Not buying into the crazy consumerism Already celebrated Xmas in November - easier to get around the shops too Going away for Xmas instead using the bank holidays and the fact my husband has to take leave then. Not even bought new holiday clothes x Happy with less x Merry Christmas to you all x
Good on you! People forget it is Christmas, not Getmas. Keep it simple and sustainable. Most of my gifts are home made Christmas cakes, avoiding cluttering homes with stuff that nobody needs. I did buy myself my first ever Christmas hoodie, at the grand old age of 64. It has a message. "Rejoice in the birth of a brown skinned, middle eastern, undocumented immigrant", which I wear proudly to challenge the views of some.
There is nothing wrong with second hand gifts your approach is brilliant don’t change, there is too much commercialism that’s what stresses me out and takes the enjoyment out of it
100% I bought 5 brand new kids books from the oxfam shop yesterday! Perfect condition cost me £11 if people want to Stick their noses up at you and your choices and the fact that you’re not doing your bit to destroy the planet, line the pockets of greedy corporations- just let them! Their loss! I know loads of younger parents who are doing this now! As long as it’s good condition and given a clean I’m all for that 👏🎅🤩
Capitalism really has some people well and truly blinded 😅 I couldn’t believe some of the comments on that video 😂 imagine being THAT offended by someone doing Christmas differently 🤪 great tips! Thank you for a fab video. I’m going to bake some Christmas treats for some of my family as their gifts, I can’t wait! I’ve advised my sister to wrap an old TV remote for her baby, he’ll love it! 😂
i think kids these days get way too much stuff we did buy our son too much when he was younger and now he is 19 and he has some money and we go somewhere and make memories :)
Oh it's wild! But I have heard of people getting a whole new "theme" each year. Someone I know had a pink Christmas, then gold, then red and now I believe are on blue.

No shame in second hand gifts. You are teaching your kids the right way. Also I don't understand why people are getting so many gifts for their children. Most kids is too overwhelmed by all of this stuff to really enjoy it.The moment we started giving less stuff to our kids they appreciate it more. My boy loves lego, and big sets are soo expensive, so we always get him second hand one, and he has never complained about it.

People who criticise her should watch another UA-camr who just spends all their money on new tat 😂

I agree! Thank you. 💛💛💛
I would never get anyone second-hand anything. I would rather they spent £5 on something new. I couldn't do that to someone.

Honestly I don't know how people have the time or brain capacity for all those wild comments! 😂 Yes! A remote is a great ideas!!! Love it. 😂💛
Love the remote idea. Apparently when I was little I loved nothing more than stirring a pan of pegs with a wooden spoon!
I think you have the perfect approach to Christmas 😻😻your boys will have lovely memories to look back on ❤️

What a shame people critiszing you. You will be enjoying experiences with your family while they are paying credit card bills.
