Certain events in the manga yet to be animated may cause you to rethink that. Granted it may not even be animated until maybe a year from now as I believe the anime adapts a chapter or half a chapter per episode so it depends. Manga readers will know what I am talking about but I wont spoil it.
It's the look at 2:05 that I love the most from Luffy, and it's part of the spirit he inherited from Roger; he WANTS the conflict, and relishes the chance put his life on the line, for his friends, against a monstrous force. He's legendary for his loyalty and miraculous ability to turn almost anyone into his ally, but at the end of the day he's just a goofy monkey looking for a good fight.
What scratches my mind as the most interesting part of one piece in my opinion is that not a lot of them know Luffy by his name and we've noticed this throughout the entire show that most of the common people just call him by "the strawhat man" who came to free their land of evil. Joy boy in the telling
i mean we get luffyland luffytaro big bro, people just call others by nicknames all the time unless they are close in this series. that's luffy's most notable feature and his crew is named after it even. its the same with shanks most people who arent particularly close with him call him red hair

Red hatred Shanks if the Nickname of the captain of the red haired pirates. Neither Roger Nor Shanks identified themselves with the straw hat as luffy does. Once again. His crew is called the strawhat pirates. He refers to himself as strawhat luffy as he loves his hat. And it's front and center on his Jolly Roger when neither shanks nor Roger used it on their flags. Also people who had no idea who joyboy was referred to luffy a strawhat, everyone they met in the east blue.
The song choice makes the most difference. It's makes it sound like once they started, no matter the obstacle...once they started that walk towards Arlong Park... *they never stopped going forward!*

I mean, yeah, everyone has a personal goal but going on with the journey, their goal went on equal foot with luffy dream. When Vivi was with them, her goal was to take down Crocodile, after that she wanted to continue her journey with her nakama but I think they were separated too early and there wasn t a chance for her to express her alliegiance to Luffy or saying he will become the king of pirates (for what i remember). Meanwhile Yamato read Oden journal, she saw the parallelism between Luffy and Roger, and even if her goal is to set sail free, she knows that Luffy will become the king of pirates or change the world drastically, so in a sense she already plead alliegiance to Luffy. And in the end we need a fucking overpowered woman like Yamato 🔥🔥 vivi is more like a shadow crew member, like Kuroko in Kuroko no basket
I started watching OP back when I was still in elementary. I now have a daughter and she's already 6 and it's still going strong. When OP ends Im gonna rewatch the whole thing along with my daughter. I just hope she's not yet in her 20s' by then 🤣😅
As someone who took the past three months to watch the entirety of One Piece, the part where it says "Thanks" gets me choked up. I think that officially solidifies my love for the series.
it is indeed a phenomenal moment.. starting out alone as a goofy kid in a barrel to now facing an army with a loyal crew and allies to become an emperor..
i pity the fans that love one piece but did not go on the journey from the first time it was aired till this moment.. to those who did get on the journey for years.. you guys know how it feels , it just hits differently
2:06 the epic journey, from taking out Arlong who was concidered the strongest pirate in East Blue, to taking down their first warlord in Crocodile, to their assault on Enies Lobby, saying farewell to Going Merry and gaining the ship that will take them through the entire New World, their liberation of Fishman Island and up until Wano, all shown in a few still images but each and every one of them gives me goosebumps.
It's so sad that some One Piece fans passed away before seeing this. This is why One Piece is better than any manga/anime series, ever combined. R.I.P. to all the fans that missed this. #OnePiece1000
I wanted Luffy to be the pirate king more than Naruto trying to get his hands on being the Hokage. I don’t know man.. feels like he really worth holding that pirate king title.
Mihawk was right about Luffy he can turn people around him into an ally. The Straw Hats are always fighting odds that are insane against them but they always performe a miracle that leads to victory. the crew's trust was formed by following Luffy true hell and heaven, true pain and happiness. Each adventure battle just made their trust grow stronger. even Kaido after every battle with Luffy started to see him as a treat and being worth to compete with him for the title Pirate King(sorry my eng is bad but have a nice day/evening)
I come back and watch this every now and again because its so good seeing how far Luffy has come as a leader and captain. He is still a foolish funny guy but he has grown so much as a captain since we first saw him set out from Foosha village.
The feels bro, the feels. I get the anime pacing is slow and few other issues but the anime still slaps hard. I've read the manga and I love it but there's some moments you can't create in manga that you can in anime & vice versa.
