you sure make life look sooooo relaxing, even while I'm sitting in the middle of downtown Memphis with my coffee in a paper cup! Thanks Dave for all you do.
Dave this video is far from boring. In fact, in my opinion this is one of your best videos. I LOVE what you said about not having to be good at bushcraft, just enjoy it. That's just how I am with my woodcarving and woodworking, I may not be the best at it but nobody enjoys it more than I do. Thanks for taking us along on another adventure.
Thanks Scott! Well people need to think a long the lines of have fun no matter what. I had a friend that his hobby was fishing tournaments. He got so into it, so competitive that it got to the point where he was stressed out so bad that he grew to hate fishing because he wasnt winning. I say do what you enjoy no matter how it turns out. Take care my friend!
Couldn't agree more. Bushcraft should be joyful and full of good memories. I began my bushcraft / survival life at four years old with my grandfather who raised me. Great memories, good times and peace within.
I for one appreciate your video's. There not pretentious, you not selling me anything, but above all you are honest in your presentation. The drought is affecting all of the East...this is a sign and a warning of what is happening... We that love the Wilderness, i.e. Bushcraft are stewards of our Wilderness. If anything we see the signs of the fragility of our Wilderness. Frankly we are loosing it, including our Wildlife...If we are not careful!!! I don't mean to be so down trodden in my conversation here. But thanks to folks like you, others we know and myself we have a duty and obligation to share what we know and preserve and protect our Wilderness so we may practice our Bushcraft in the perfect solitude of our Wilderness space. I look to your Video's and thank you for your work and joy! Ross The Santa Fe Man
Thanks Ross, I'm glad you like the way I do things. I'm just me and I try and keep it as real as possible. I agree 100% on us taking care of our wilderness. There has to be room for nature, we cant just chop down clear and pave over it all. Take care and Thanks for watching
Very neat idea, love the cheerful attitude. Recently, We had several years of drought in east Texas and I know how you feel not having a campfire. By the way, love the way you chuckle, it makes everyone in my family laugh.😀👍
Good coffee, excellent invention, thoughtful philosophy, and fine company (perfect, except for the weather!) I always enjoy seeing you again!!! Thanks, Clark
Well Dave, you look mighty fine these days, the hat was definitely made for you. That is the best reason to love bushcraft. Your always coming up with bright ideas that we appreciate you sharing. Hope the weather improves for your area soon.
This video is lovely... It is really nice to see how concerned you were for the drought!!! And how much care you took to prevent causing any fires!!! I'm sad the creek is dry!!! Sending good vibes to your rain clouds!!!
Thank you, I'm glad you liked it. Im very concerned! Theres wildfires all around where I live. They are getting out of hand and we need rain soon or all the large trees will be dead next spring. Thanks for the good vibes and Thanks for watching
A lot of what you summed up in those 5 minutes in there are a copy of my reasons for doing what i do with my hobby and i thank You for airing them out there.Pure poetry , Wood poetry man. Thanks again for such great moments in time With you and a greeting Your way and may the rain be With you :) WW2HistoryHunter.
Im happy you liked the way I put things. Hobbies should be for 100% pure enjoyment. Nothing else. I LOVE my time in the woods. Take care and Thanks for watching my friend
This too shall pass Brother. Central Texas here and we just survived about 7 years in drought conditions. Some of those 7 nearly bone dry. I was shocked how quick the land started healing after the rains returned. Keep your head up and we will keep y'all in our prayers.
Hello my friend. Thanks for the tag. You are great to some up with new genius gear. That pot stand looks awesome. Deeply hope you will get some rain much sooner then January. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you Ulrica! Im happy you liked it. Thats probably the most ultralight tripod attachment yet! I cant wait to see your video and hear what you have to say. Take care and Thanks for watching
As we moved from Glamping to Bushcraft, my daughter and I have appreciated everything outdoor and nature far more. And, like you said, its more engaging, challenging and entertaining. Raising a girl, I felt the only way to get her to go outdoors to start was to Glamp, and she did. Now, she is older, and really enjoys working on crafting shelters, cooking apparatus, fires (when allowed) etc... In California, our drought is the worst in 1000 years. Real bad. No fires allowed anywhere within 100 miles where we live for the past 3 years. Keep up the great videos. You have inspired us to pushed the boundaries of creativity in the bush.
Sounds like a great way of getting kids into the outdoors! Its one of the best hobbies I know of. 3 years with no fires? Wow, you have it way worse than me! Take care and Thanks for watching
David...great video! Thanks for letting us hang out with you! I love that brand of coffee...it's what they serve at Panorama Apples in Ellijay! (Make sure to get an apple turnover and head out to the rockers while you have your coffee!) we always stop on our way to NC! ✌🏻
You are the real deal mister. I can see in this old vid that the drought really bummed you out. Shows you care for nature that surrounds you. Also shows the quality type person you are for caring about the animals and their habitat, and it also shows that you know how to keep things in perspective. I mean, enjoying nature, playing in nature, no rules, just try it, improve it, or not, doesn't matter. I don't listen to the self proclaimed so called survival experts, most of them are keyboard warrior hacks and wanna be's who never actually experienced a real survival situation to begin with and Its highly unlikely that any of us will ever experience a real life survival experience as well. Great Vid once again.
Thanks! Yes, I truly care for nature and the woods. Once they are all chopped down and paved over, We are screwed. I hear ya on the survival experts thing. Some of these folks have read books , watched TV then started UA-cam channels. Its so obvious to me its sickening. That why I try to avoid the words survival on here and stick to bushcraft and camping.
A beautiful video, David. You don't just tell the why, you show why and how much in that intro, walking through the dry creek. It's heartbreaking to watch the land you love drying out and hoping life will come back with enough rain. We got enough to fill the reservoirs here, and the last couple of weeks we've had enough to put about an inch of new green grass on the ground here. Fall and Winter are our natural green time here in California, and we're all thankful to see that new grass. I hope your drought passes soon and gently, with enough steady rain to give water without flooding. All the best to you, my friend!
Thanks MacKenzie, I'm glad you liked it. Oh yes, its very very depressing to see my play ground all dried up and dead. Thats wild that Fall and Winter are your green times. Down south Spring and Summer is all green and Fall and Winter is always dead with leaves falling and grass brown. Be good and Thanks for watching
Well, I'll be careful. ;) I did take that trip I've been planning, and it was great. We got a little rain setting up Friday, then just cool and nice all weekend. I do love being out where I can see stars and can't hear mechanical background noise. Be well and get some rain soon!
Water level is low in Vermont too. I like to use real maple syrup in my coffee. Talk about an energy drink. Thanks for the video and hopefully the weather people are wrong. Take care, Al
Very cool video Dave! Another great thing about brown sugar is taht is way healthier than the processed white sugar. I hope the dryout ends soon and the water and fish will return again. Cheers, Marc
Just FYI and not trying to be a 'know it all' but the stuff we buy as brown sugar is not the same as turbinado sugar (which is also brown.) Turbinado sugar is usually unprocessed while commercial brown sugar is usually processed. In fact, most commercial brown sugar is nothing more than processed white sugar with molasses (which is a by-product of producing processed sugar) added to it to give the distinctive flavor. The only reason I learned that is I used to work with a guy who was a vegan and he wouldn't eat white sugar because it is often processed with animal bone char and when I asked about brown sugar he told me the info I mentioned, above. I looked it up myself and found that he was right. It doesn't bother me and I still eat white (and brown) sugar although these days I mostly try to stick with Splenda.
JAB 619 Hey Jab, thanks a lot for that info! Here in Germany they sell so called organic unprocessed sugar. Didn't know that they sell this kind of processed brown sugar in the States.
Reallybigmonkey1 is a great person. Lucky are the people that know him personally. I am not a nature person but when I watch him I am there with him, he gives you that feeling, he opens the woods for you like a great host opens his house for his friends to have a good time.
Sitting at my Place in South Central MO... There's a Forcast of Snow on the way and it's 35, snow melt ground is soupy to walk on, and the tiny birds are crackling the leaves, looking for the Handfuls of corn I cast out yesterday. Feels like Home. I'm not a city dweller. I got along okay in the city, but even in Fargo ND, it is only Quiet in the Blizzard. I can sculpt anywhere... But there's nothing like the silence of nature on the soul of a human. That's why I Love Bushcrafting. Thanks for the Talk and the Coffee, Friend.
Buddy I feel for yall with this drought. It's been over a month for us down here in Fl. Great video my friend. Said it before, but I'll say it again love your videos, and common scene ways of doing things! I like the little ring of fire tripod thingy you used! Thumbs up brother~John
Thanks John. Man droughts are horrible. Give me heat cold rain or snow but theres nothing good about a drought. That tripod thingie is all new but man its working great! Take care and Thanks for watching
One of the things I like the most about your videos is that watching them is like spending time with an old friend in the woods. The way you demonstrate and explain things is just like having a buddy in the woods.
Always great to hear that and I'm happy you like the way I do things. I like to be thought of as a friend and not just a dude making videos. Take care and Thanks for watching Stephen
Great video. Love your attitude. Out in the real woods, bushcraft, woodsmanship, should be about one person coming to the aid of another, not competing. I do think newcomers should either be good enough to stay safe, or wise enough to go out with someone who does know enough. That's coming to the aid of others, too, or so I believe. Go out with newcomers, and help show them how to stay safe. I hate to say it, but I didn't know the drought was still in full swing. And I have family and friends down there. I credit not knowing with it being election year. I'm usually a news junkie, but this year I've avoided news. I even stopped watching TV. I'll pray it ends soon. I love my coffee, and I often drink two or three pots per day, doctor's orders be hanged. I drank it black for forty-six years or so, and then, about four or five years ago, I discovered coconut creamer, and now that's the only way I drink it at home. I still drink it black at restaurants and in the woods, but only because I can't get my coconut creamer there. I was taught to let coffee perk for two minutes, and then to get it off the fire. Works well for me. Anyway, yes, bushcraft should be fun, not a competition. I don't think I am a bushjcrafter. I'm a woodsman, and I don't worry about the latest this or that, which knife I should or shouldn't use, which knot is best, etc. I grew up in the woods, and I just love being out there. If I'm not actively hunting, trapping, fishing, or doing anything else that makes me move around and be active, I love just sitting down under a tree, building a tiny fire, and relaxing. I can spends days, weeks, just sitting and thinking, drinking coffee, enjoying the sights and sounds of the woods, and I can sleep under a tree with the best of them. I know how to survive in the woods. I know how to live in the woods, and I have known since I was a kid, so I don't worry about every little thing this expert or that expert says. Most have never actually lived in the wild. And no one needs much of what is taught under the name of survival. Much of it is nonsense, anyway. Most people have enough skill and common sense to do an excellent job, with just a bit of aid from someone who knows what to do, and who doesn't keep telling them they have to have this, buy that, do the other. You don't need the latest knife, the latest backpack, the perfect tent, and you don't have to know how to tie every knot in existence. Knowledge helps, but actually surviving, and especially living, in the wild, is far more about attitude and common sense than about trying to do every little thing some expert says. I've met a lot of people who know several times as much about the wild as I do, but who could last two weeks in the wild, and could never live there fulltime. They've tried, but they think of it as an ordeal, and their own mind punishes them. They make it a battle, long for it to end, suffer when it doesn't, and you can't live long term in the wild that way. You have to accept it for what it is, and you have to enjoy it, or you won't last. This largely applies to short term survival, as well. For something like bugout, or surviving a bad situation that goes on for weeks, and most certainly for living there long-term, you can't be afraid, you can't destroy your body and mind by making it a battle, by hating it, by losing your mind wanting it to end. Anyway, great video. You always have something to say worth listening to, and you say it in a most enjoyable way. And, wow, I rambled even longer than usual. I'll shut up now.
Well I have to say David, in all my 60 years I've never heard or seen a more positive person than your good self. Your vids are a joy and your ideas for bushcraft bits and pieces are brilliant. Keep up the good work. PS I've been trying to hotrod an old Ford F1 pickup truck for the past 10 years but every time I think about going into the garage I end up going fishing instead. Never enough hours in a day to get stuff done.
Thanks Lionel, I take that as a huge compliment! I try my best to stay positive no matter what. I'm glad you like the vids too. I hear ya on the going fishing. I have a car in my shop thats been waiting on me to fix up but fun comes first. LOL.Thanks for watching
I am in Alabama and it is dry i mean dry we cant burn dig... they keep saying it is going to rain bat it hasent yet our river is very low the creeks are low i just got a new ferro rod but cant test it so for once i am ready for rainy season
David my boy, you never cease to entertain and inform, thank you so much, even though I grow older, I can still join in. Well done and thanks again mate. Chris.
Here is a link to them. They are great! Dave has the 'hot pepper' one, which is a tad more $: smile.amazon.com/Skillet-Handle-Cover-Sleeve-Holders/dp/B07RFP8RDG/ref=sr_1_5?keywords=lodge+pan+holder&qid=1577340223&sr=8-5 There is also a silicon cover made for the Helper Handle for these pans, and they too are wonderful.
Very sorry to hear about the drought. Hope rain gets to Georgia and the rest of the states sooner than expected. That tri-ring thing you made is cool. It is always good to get away from city noises. Enjoyed the video. Thank you for sharing
I don't know how you do it: starts talking about the subject at 15:57 and all that time at the start just rambles and everyone loves it! Including me! :)
i liked this one thanks for telling us some things about youself it was cool of you to do so im trying to get some stuff togather to go out on a camping trip may take some time for that to do but when i go ill let you know how it whent tel thin stay cool
I'm always hapy to share a little about myself, as long as it doesnt get boring. LOL. Man go and no matter what happens good or bad? Have fun. Be outdoors and enjoy it. Take care and Thanks for watching John
after working in garages and welding shops 30 years i comlpetely understand why youre into bushcraft . ive started that path myself recently . thank you for your videos david
We share a lot of the same feelings brother! Theres only so much heating, welding and grease you can stand until you need a break and fresh air! Take care and Thanks for watching Mike
Your sure make life look sooooo relaxing, even while I'm sitting in the middle of downtown Memphis with my coffee in a paper cup. Thanks Dave for sharing all you do!
Brother coffee is relaxing but even better in a creek bed in the woods! One of my Co workers just got a job in Memphis and moved there. Take care and Thanks for watching Gary
Kinda like fishen ! a bad day at it is better then work ! ive a;ways notice a real bush crafter will always teach ya how and not sell ya something ! Me Ive always lived in the woods all my life and made what i need and was a scout master and tough the same !
LOL, how true! Even on the days I never caught fish I loved time hanging out in the ole boat or on a creek bank. I hear ya about teaching, I have no use for folks that try and convince you to buy something in every single video. From one EX scout leader to another, Thanks for watching!
always feel like it's just spending time with a friend with your videos .. and I also enjoy your diy builds too .. you're a very creative and personable guy.. thanks for all the videos, hope you get rain soon.
Always great to hear that William and I'm happy you like the way I do things. Sometimes during filming I do feel like Im talking to my friends. Thanks for watching
Its a travesty of justice u haven't reached a million subscribers yet, following u now for some time Dave, and looking back at your videos which r never tiring to watch ! Without much yacking on n keep it short u one of rare people I've met in my life were I must say u r such an unfeigned person, with integrity n quality which r hard to find this days ! I'll jump 6 years forward again to u last video, much respect to u n Nick. Christmas is well n truly on its way ,have a festive season a good new year, and all the best for u future videos 😉 Gunter
Thank you Gunter! Man without tooting my own horn I've often wondered why my channel hasn't grown after being on here 12 years. I guess UA-cam is just a big place. Thanks for the years of comments support and views. I hope you too have a festive season, Happy Holidays and a Merry Christmas to you too!
always accomplish something in a day. great advice. I accidentally stumbled into it making a tarp and now a hammock for my son. thanks for great video. it gets me outdoors when I can't :-)
Sure made my day spending part of my morning hanging out with Dave! As a wildland firefighter I want to thank you for not ignoring the fire ban. I know a lot of people do. The best thing to add to coffee imho is more coffee! ATB Nick
Great to spend time with everyone Nick. Man youre so right, theres a lot of folks that just plain ignore the ban. Theres no way I will. Have some more coffee and take care bro!
Hey Dave been watching your videos for some time now, and I like how you always bring enthusiasm and light heartedness to your delivery. I don't get out as much as I should but just watching your channel makes me feel i'm there with you. I think this Global warming cycle we are in has a lot to do with many of the unusual weather patterns we are experiencing, especially when it comes home to you noticing things , such as the lack of wildlife that used to be present all the time such as snakes and frogs, and if your having problems finding water what about the birds, deer and all other larger animals that live in the woods. isn't that the reason we go out there to see and be part of nature to experience the wild and become at one with it. Any how like your stuff keep it going always like what you do thank you.
Thanks Tim, I'm glad you like how I do things. Very well said about the animals and wildlife. How are they making it with little or no water? Im just hoping nature finds a way to bounce back after all this. Thanks for watching
Love it! Thanks again David! Your videos always make my week! ..Like the hat, and the neck knife!! 😍 Great new invention there! You really are a genius for this stuff.. It's wonderful! .. I think many of us love bushcraft for the same reasons, it's a chance to recharge and decompress from the pressures of daily life .. In my case, it's those things, and that I've always been a 'nature kid'.. I spent all my free time as a child outdoors, in the woods, at the farm, wherever! Despite life's hurdles and obligations, the woods is where I end up when I can escape 😁 no place like it! Parks are nice, but they're not wild.. ❤️ ..We have had a horrible drought here too this year, last year was BAD, this year was even worse ☹️ I lost more than 1/2 my plants with the watering bans & NO rain in months.. Then ironically we got 4 inches of SNOW last night .. There's busted tree chunks all over, so many still had their leaves the snow cracked them.. So, I completely sympathize over the dryness and the effects on our favorite woodlands because of it.. There's been SO many creatures that have disappeared as the plants withered and the water holes dried up.. I hate to say it, but all we can hope for is record snowfall to refill the basins for spring.. Not that I'm looking forward to record snow either 🙄 LOL .. I hope you get a lot of rain! Before January!! .. I've had trouble with UA-cam's messaging (again!), so I sent a message as a response to a previous message to you, see if you can find it? 😁 lol Take care! Looking forward to the next ones! 💕
Always great to hear that Ruth and I'm happy you liked it. Good way you have of describing Bushcraft. In a way, when we played in the woods as kids it was a form of pre Bushcraft. Thats so bad you was in a drought too, amazing the snow came! That wont be much of a hope here. We very rarely get snow here. Usually just a dusting. PM me when you can. Take care and Thanks for watching
wow Dave, that's quite a drought! We've had tons of rain here in the Pacific Northwest in October (something like 8" of rain this month alone). I hope you find relief in the form of rain soon! I really like your tripod ring device. Very clever.
I've been using PET milk for over 40 years in my coffee and Chaga tea, and I wouldn't want to do without it! Loved your video, it was such a nice little visit with you out and about. Sure hope the drought ends soon for you folks! ATB Sty
Thats cool Sty! This was my first time to try. I usually use plain old dry creamer in camp and half n half at home. Take care and see you in the next one Sty!
Great hangin' with you, Dave! I'm having a cuppa joe myself right now....I'm a noob at bushcrafting, but I agree fully with what you said. You are The Man!
I'm in Lawrenceville. It's not as bad as where you are, but yellow river is very low. This is off topic, but do you prefer cotton, or polyester? I am about to buy my winter cloths for bushcraft.
Dave, great video. Coffee and bushcraft . I have the exact set up of that stove and coffee pot when I camp in New Mexico. Sometimes I have to use a piece of aluminium to block the wind. Best tasting coffee ever. I'm going to do a rain dance for Georgia. I worked for California a couple of months ago. Take care.
Thanks for the video Dave ! That was like sitting and drinking coffee with you in the woods. About the drought I think the climate is really changing in whole world. In some countries abnormal rains in some drought.
You couldn’t be boring if you tried! Rock on Dave...love hearing your thoughts on things.I love rain and never complain about it because I hate drought so immensely..God bless you and keep on keeping on.
I'm so glad y'all finally got some rain. I spent a week with friends near Ellijay doing some primitive camping and my friend from Rome would take us out to some spots and you could just see the look in his eyes when we were to come up on a creek and it had long been dried up. It was ruff spending that week without having a campfire but it was the responsible thing to do.
The rain saved us for sure! I can see if your friend was from round here that he/she knows all too well how dry it was. It got so bad. Camping with no fire does suck but its all good now. Thanks for watching!
I love being outdoors in woods and such very much. A lot of what I do is explore and find wood for ferro rod handles, and then have coffee as well. I sit and widdle the park off and get a basic shape and have coffee in the woods, its wonderful. Relaxing. I talk to God and renew myslef. I always encourage people to go out and be outside. Thanks for sharing Dave. Coffee looks good.
Good video as always. .. I remember that drought , I only mowed my yard 3 times , that year... whether it's campfire or canister,, drinking coffee in the woods just wonderful!! Hey if you're like my DAD , god rest his soul, he just loved being in the woods... Thank GOD , I get that from him!!!!
Thanks Lee, I'm glad you liked it. Ah man that was a horrible drought! There were creeks dry that I've never seen dry on my life time. I hope I never see that again. Oh yes, I love every second I spend on the woods. Take care and thanks for watching
My favorite video. I unfortunately spent about 40 years airing TV shows and commercials that I figured took away from people's time. Do stuff with your kids if you can. Watch The Lone Ranger with them if you can't. You seem like a kindred spirit, Dave. I love spending time with you.
I'd have to agree with you, you put the feelings about getting free and relaxing in the woods into the best words I've heard man. I'm always fabricating and welding at work..myself. Getting out doors and away is so relaxing it's hard to put into words. It's just what I do, lol. I love making Things as well. It's just when it becomes time consuming.. it consumes my time and I feel like I get no down time. This is a great channel and K really enjoyed the Fire Ring. Take care Shane Sitting in a dry creek bed, making coffee...perfect 😎
Hard to put into words but yep, I think you and I are a lot alike and think alike. We both weld and fabricate and enjoy it but, even as a hobby that can get old. Almost turn into a second job. The woods are a calling and we are a answering! I'm glad you liked it. Thanks for watching Shane
I grew up using a coffee pot like that, still have one. Most young folks now days would not have any idea how it worked.Best Coffee ever. Good Video . Hope you Get some Rain soon. I live in Central Pa. Darn dry here too.
Thats pretty cool Dale. I guess I just take for granted that everyone knows about these pots. I forget the generation nowadays all grew up with a Kureig. LOL. Im thinking the entire East coast is dry from what Im hearing. Take care and Thanks for watching
Hi David, I live in Texas and we have bad droughts all the time, and don't worry the fish, frog, turtles, etc. always come back. We've gone almost a year without rain, but as soon as rain comes you hear the frogs singing all over the place. I don't know how they do it, but they always survive. Also, bit of trivia, there was a bad drought that hit almost the whole South in 1862. I don't know about Georgia, but I know from reading about the Civil War that the drought was bad in Texas, Mississippi and Kentucky. Love your videos, you're the best friend I've never met.
Man thats great to hear. Usually all the areas along the creeks I visit are alive and full of movement and life. It just seems barren and dead. Interesting Trivia. I feel like I have a lot of really good friends that Ive never met but sure would like to one day. Take care and Thanks for watching
Hello David! Where have you been? Its seems like forever since part 4 Bushcraft. Thank you for sharing a great cup of coffee, I appreciated the time with you very much and as always learned a few things, and had some great entertainment along the way. I think we would all agree that the state our country is in right now is bad on so many levels. I was born and raised in the west, watching what is going there now is also the worst drought in a long, long time. Out here where I am in the middle it was a pretty mild summer but we are expecting on of the coldest and wettest on record. Everything is topsy-turvy. Having the skill you teach is a must for what is to come. Thank you for all you share! God Bless!
Man have I ever been busy! Busy with work and busy with family. There wasnt much time for filming. Youre so right, our country is in bad shape all around. I remember how great things were in the 80s and 90s. You mentioned the coldest and wettest yet? Halloween day here will be 86F. Thats unheard of! Take care and Thanks for watching
I really enjoyed spending time with you Dave. Your father gave you great advice and I have seen plenty videos with you and your son and know that you give him plenty of advice also. You are a good man and a great father. Thanks for your video. Stay safe, stay healthy and God bless always.
Thanks! I'm glad you like watching and spending time with ole Dave. I try my best to guide my son right. At least as much as my Dad tried with me. LOL. Thanks for watching and may God bless you too!
the tri-tripod looks great. so does the Eldris. I'm looking forward to getting a couple. In my neck of the woods, we've been having one of our wettest Octobers. Hope you get to have rain soon.
I love watching your videos I enjoy their instruction and content of them. Sorry about the water issues you are having even in Denver Colorado where I'm from we also have them and the reality of it is scary. Everything that happens in nature affects us in some way or the other and that's why I'm learning what to do in dire straits. Keep your sense of humor coming because that is the big reason I enjoy your videos so much, a bushcrafting buddy to share morning coffee with. Thank you for what you do and I look forward to the next one.
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it. I hear ya man, What happens in nature affects us in many many different ways from the price of food due to crops dying to the way animals flock to water and leave certain areas. I'm always happy to share coffee with y'all. Thanks for watching and see ya in the next one
Over 300 acres burned at Little River from a campfire - springs, creeks are gone and lakes at lowest - hope you are getting patents on all these great things you make --as always enjoyed
AMEN. Simplicity and genius all in one. Missed you for a while and had no idea GA was in a drought situation. Not here in FL In fact had a roof leak here...:(. And don't forget you deserve all the time you can get in your woods. Thanx again Dave for a refreshing look at the outdoors even when nature doesn't seem to be in our favor. gigi
Hello Gigi! Long time no hear. I hope all is well. Yep, huge drought here. We get our drinking water out of the two rivers that run through here and they are like very very low. Im hoping for rain very soon. Take care and Thanks for watching
Morning Dave, nice to see you again Brother. Its weird how the weather is changing all over. Here in Scotland we have had the wettest year for a long time with much more wind than normal .... so if you want rain head over here!! That little Mora is superb and I for one am going to get one when they become available over here. Well Dave, whats next? You take care and see you next tine, atb Jim
Morning brother Jim! Man I would love some rain! Here its hot dry and windy. A very hot wind for October. Im used to cold and damp this time of year. That Mora is fantastic. I have a long list of vids to do but I just got tagged again this morning! Take care and Thanks for watching
How well I understand drought out here in California! No burn areas etc. Love a campfire but am used to using various backpacking stoves.. some folks won't carry water but I have always carried water...too many droughts under my belt. And I am happy just to sit with you while you make your coffee...a day in the woods is always a better day!!
Ive always heard what California has to endure and now I know first hand! Im used to campfire, no stoves. Im also used to using a water filter and having water every where. This drought has made me really appretiate the streams creeks and rivers we have. I'm glad you liked spending time with me! Thanks for watching Cheri
I've looked to some ultralight gear just so I can carry more water. Still I realize that drought is a part of nature just like rain is. It just means that I must adjust myself to drought, to nature itself. And Dave I'll always hang with you no matter how you make your coffee! I'm heading to Wisconsin for a few weeks so I guess I'll get a campfire! Have a great day Dave and I'll do a rain dance for you! Lol
Excellent points about enjoying the woods brother! Sorry to hear about the drought. Up here in Maine we experienced the same thru Spring and summer but the fall has been wet. Take care my friend -Chris
Greetings from your next door neighbors across the river in South Carolina. Love your work and what do in the channel, you are a walking encyclopedia. I always learn something new. EL Oso (ED)
That's THE BEST talk on Bushcraft ever. What a great philosophy... Just GET OUT THERE and BE. : ) Praying for rain here up in the North East also... All we can do is charcoal in the back yard. Never take water for granted.... it IS LIFE God Bless
Thanks, I'm glad you liked my way of thinking. We have never needed rain so badly. Amazing how we take water for granted.. Thanks for watching and may God bless you too.
always enjoy your rambling, thanks for another great video. we are dealing with the drought too here in california, so no fires allowed also. getting good use outta our jetboil now lol plus learning how to cook on it which is actually a lil challenging. they are best at just boiling water.
Thanks John, I'm glad you liked it. I hear ya man. Theres a lot of them small stoves and burners that are great for boiling water but very tough to just cook on. Thanks for watching
"Time with Dave" That was great buddy, you really take us out on a very enjoyable Fun in The Woods time with you as your personality, once again, as delightful as ever, comes shining through.Thank you Dave! Our family always stands by as Subs awaiting the next great idea we'll incorporate into our outdoor recreation. So sorry about such a severe drought in your region. Here in the Great Pacific Northwest we are getting near flood stages as usual. P.S. Especially appreciate your generosity in sharing the links to other Bushcrafter's channels. I always let them know how it was I came to visit and have become a Sub for a few. I recommend your channel to all Dave, as it was your work that launched my pursuit of Bushcraft education and greater enjoyment. We ARE, your #1 Fans! Oregon Mike H. and Family.
Thanks Mike, I'm glad you liked it and me! I hate to hear of the floods, of course I would welcome a few small floods here! Im always happy to help out smaller channels. I remember when I started out and the bigger guys helped me. The bests help I got was from BushcraftBartons, OregonMike and Sepp from Waldhandwerk. Take care and Thanks for watching
You're having a drought and we're having record rains. I did a video a month or so ago of my basement after we got 14" of rain in 48 hours. Like they say, "it could be worse, at least you're still vertical". Great video again.
I have a basement too and have had flooding in the past, thats very very tough to clean up! And yes, it could always be worse. Take care and Thanks for watching
Hey Dave, sorry to hear about yalls drought over there. In Texas and other parts of the west burn bans are pretty common in the summer so I've been in your current predicament quite a few times. Necessity is the mother of invention Dave, and I think this provides you a really good opportunity to show us some really cool off the wall non-campfire cook set ups! Waldeinsamkeit is a German word for a very specific feeling of being alone in the woods. Its like that song "I'm a thousand miles from nowhere. Time don't matter to me. 'Cause I'm a thousand miles from nowhere. And there's no place I want to be". That's why I love bushcraft.
Thanks Chad. Man this drought is the worst Ive ever seen. We have had burn bans a month at a time but never lasting a full year! I have plenty of set ups that hang off trees and cook but I fear the wind blowing sparks off onto the ground. Man that would be bad. Good explaination of what bushcraft means to you!
Great video, would give several thumbs up if able! Extremely sincere, positive, and eloquent explanation for your liking bushcraft! I truly hope that your region gets the rain it needs to relieve the drought.
Dang it, I love your videos Dave. Get excited every time I see one up. Machinist myself, I can relate, made it to where I really dislike working on cars hahaha. I really enjoy being out in the woods, doesnt matter what you call it, bushcraft, woodcraft, campcraft haha, sounds like a Martha Stewart show, craft time. I really appreciate you taking the time to share with all of us, fun tag. Really like that little Mora too
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it all. Craft time? LOL! Man that does sound like a Martha Stewart show but the name can apply to making things. Any time spent in the woods is good time. Take care and Thanks for watching
Another Great Video. I am a Coffee Fanatic, so I really enjoyed this video. Your explanation of why you love Bush Craft was both Masterful and Sincere at the same time. Thanks Again, Florida, USA.
Hi Dave 1. Back in '72 I was in the Smoky Mountains and went to see Mirror Rock, Just my luck to be in a drought, so no water on the rock. 2. When I was much younger, in the British Army ration pack there was condensed milk in a tube like an old fashioned toothpaste tube, also Jam and Margarine in the same type of tube. 3. I like your new tripod ring, the best one yet.
Hi Dave! I havent been to Mirror rock but I was up there since the drought hit and the little river is low enough to be a stream! That is so cool with the items in tubes, Ive never seen that before. Im glad you liked my tripod set up
Wow, a new video just in time for today's first coffee! I didn't realize they could simply ban campfires. I feel privileged to have received those PMs yesterday, considering the number of followers you have. Many thanks for the video! (And everything)
Aint it neat sharing coffee with Dave? LOL. Man you just wouldnt believe the PMs I get. Comments line up under comments under the community section and are easily in order but when you get 100s of messages they wind up in the message section and never refresh. You have to dig deep to find replys. I try and answer em all but it takes forever. Take care and Thanks for watching
Hi David, that kin of gas can your using is it one that you refill with an adaptor or do you just buy new cans? what are your views on refilling those kind of gas cans you're with an adaptor?
Im using the throw away type cans. I had no idea they even made an adapter to refill them. I usually use a butane can but I'll buy the more expensive Isopro for colder temps outdoors. I think the cans I use are 6 bucks at Walmart.
if you had one of them adaptors you could save loads of money refilling that type of gas can your using their just do some research for the type of adaptor that suits you trust me they do save loads of money!
Hi again. I was watching some of your videos again, and you mentioned a backpack-able super shelter! I hope you discuss this in a future video. I have been watching videos on bicycle campers, eco-pods (high end ready built like 86 grand) and all kinds of things in between. I need to construct something like this, but start small and stay modular. Anyway I look forward to hearing and seeing more about that super shelter that you mentioned. :)
Well most everyone that knows about a super shelter knows the original design. Its a bed with branches looped over it and covered in mylar and plastic. Mine is a back packable version that wads up in a stuff sack and can be put up and taken down several times. Its pretty light weight and portable as compared to the tradional super shelter thats semi permanent. Im planning on a video on it this winter.
Sorry about your drought. I live in south Texas, ans we went through that a couple of years ago. It finally ended May, 1015 when it rained every single day in May. Awesome. But one great thing about that drought - it killed all the ticks. Roasted them all.
Watching your videos is like sitting with a friend.
88jetster dude my thoughts exactly
Amen to that!!!
88jetster Agree
you sure make life look sooooo relaxing, even while I'm sitting in the middle of downtown Memphis with my coffee in a paper cup! Thanks Dave for all you do.
Its amazing how connected Dave is with his audience!!!
I love this. And I needed to be reminded about this today. Good advice from your father, too. Subscribing!
Thanks, I'm glad you liked the advice. Thanks for the sub and Thanks for watching
Absolutely Brother! And youre very lucky to have had a Grandfather who got you into it so you. Take care and Thanks for watching
One of my new favorite videos. Thanks Dave.
Thank you my friend!
Ross
The Santa Fe Man
Thanks Ross, I'm glad you like the way I do things.
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it all. No campfire is extremely depressing for me!. Thanks for watching y'all
Dave👍you are”the campfire King !🔥
Good coffee, excellent invention, thoughtful philosophy, and fine company (perfect, except for the weather!)
I always enjoy seeing you again!!!
Thanks,
Clark
Well Dave, you look mighty fine these days, the hat was definitely made for you. That is the best reason to love bushcraft. Your always coming up with bright ideas that we appreciate you sharing. Hope the weather improves for your area soon.
Thanks Grams, I'm glad you liked it. Normally I look weird in hats but that one actually looks like it fits! Thanks for watching
7 years? Wow! Man one year of this is killing me. We are used to the perfect amount of rain round here. Thanks for the prayers brother
Always enjoy. Thanks for taking us with.
Always great to hear that and I'm happy you liked it. Thanks for watching Brother!
always love how cheerful you are in you videos!
That is priceless. Some folks never get to feel that way. :)
Thanks Nancy! I try my best to never let anything get me down.
Nothing beats the feelings of being happy brother!
I always get something good out of these videos. Thanks for your time and effort.
Always great to hear that and I'm happy you liked it. Thanks for watching
David...great video! Thanks for letting us hang out with you! I love that brand of coffee...it's what they serve at Panorama Apples in Ellijay! (Make sure to get an apple turnover and head out to the rockers while you have your coffee!) we always stop on our way to NC! ✌🏻
Thanks Alexa, I'm glad you liked it. Thats cool they serve it there! I do love headed up that way for some fried pies! Thanks for watching
David, I will pray for the Good Lord to send rain your way! And great video anyway! Peace.
Thank you Regina! We need it.
Water level is low in Vermont too. I like to use real maple syrup in my coffee. Talk about an energy drink.
Thanks for the video and hopefully the weather people are wrong.
Take care,
Al
I hate to hear that, I guess its all up the East coast. That maple syrup does sound like a good addition! Take care and Thanks for watching
JAB 619
Hey Jab, thanks a lot for that info! Here in Germany they sell so called organic unprocessed sugar. Didn't know that they sell this kind of processed brown sugar in the States.
Thanks Brother, I'm glad you liked it. I do actually try and avoid white sugar when I can. Thanks for watching Marc
Reallybigmonkey1 is a great person. Lucky are the people that know him personally. I am not a nature person but when I watch him I am there with him, he gives you that feeling, he opens the woods for you like a great host opens his house for his friends to have a good time.
JAB 619 There's a natural brown sugar that they often sell on Indian grocers (spot not feather :) .. it's really molassesy.. different but good
Sitting at my Place in South Central MO...
Sounds like paradise! Thanks for the comments and thanks for watching
@@Reallybigmonkey1 ...
To Me, It is Like Paradise. ☺️
Man! Even with no fire and no water I learned from your video Dave!! Love the rambling that comes with the knowledge. Thanks again for another hit!
Always great to hear that and I'm happy you liked it. Brother I do love rambling! Thanks for watching Michael
Wow great info darn no campfire! Carry on Bushcrafter! The worst bit about backyard shoots is the Photo bombing cats!
LOL! I cant do much of anything without them cats leaping into the scene! Take care and Thanks for watching Elisabeth
I hate to hear that. They havent even predicted any rain at all for here! Lets hope for a wet winter.
Reallybigmonkey1 yep
David my boy, you never cease to entertain and inform, thank you so much, even though I grow older, I can still join in. Well done and thanks again mate.
Chris.

Very sorry to hear about the drought. Hope rain gets to Georgia and the rest of the states sooner than expected. That tri-ring thing you made is cool. It is always good to get away from city noises. Enjoyed the video. Thank you for sharing
Thanks, man the drought here is killing everything. I'm glad you liked the vid and my Tri Tripod disc. Thanks for watching
I don't know how you do it: starts talking about the subject at 15:57 and all that time at the start just rambles and everyone loves it! Including me! :)
LOL. I guess my rambling is like a lousy dancer. You just cant help but look.

Great new invention there! ❤️
..We have had a horrible drought here too this year, last year was BAD, this year was even worse ☹️ I lost more than 1/2 my plants with the watering bans & NO rain in months..
😁 lol
Take care!
Jim its a horrible drought! 8" in one month? Man we have had .800 of an inch all year here! I'm glad you liked it. Thanks for watching
Thank you again David. Bushcrafting: Nature's therapy, to allow daily stress and worries to dissolve and concentrate on the positive things.
Very well said! And thanks for watching my friend
"Get outdoors, enjoy and be creative" - couldn't say it any better!
Thanks very much, I definitely enjoyed that chat, my friend!
Best greetings, Tim
Absolutely brother. And its always great to hear from you Tim!
Great hangin' with you, Dave! I'm having a cuppa joe myself right now....I'm a noob at bushcrafting, but I agree fully with what you said. You are The Man!
Sometimes its good to just sit around and talk and drink some Joe. Noob or expert, it dont matter. Always enjoy the woods!
That's an ingenious little ring. Thanks for sharing David.
Be safe and be lucky man, Wol.
Thanks Wol, I'm glad you liked it. I'm always safe and rarely lucky. LOL. Thanks for watching
I'm in Lawrenceville. It's not as bad as where you are, but yellow river is very low. This is off topic, but do you prefer cotton, or polyester? I am about to buy my winter cloths for bushcraft.
Great show. Love your instructions/info, stories and philosophies, and last but not at all least..your sense of Humor. Keep up the fun news.
Thanks Hope, I'm glad you liked it all. Thanks for watching and see ya in the next one!
I'm a british walker/woodsman with little time for the past three years to get outta town.nice to spend a bit o'time with Dave.Thanks.
I understand completely Richard. Sometimes life gets so busy theres no time left to get away and unwind. Take care and Thanks for watching
Take care.
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it. Man perc coffee is the best to me! We need a little rain dance my friend. Thanks for watching
Thanks for the video Dave ! That was like sitting and drinking coffee with you in the woods. About the drought I think the climate is really changing in whole world. In some countries abnormal rains in some drought.
You are very welcome and I'm glad you liked it. I think youre right, some places have no rain and some have way way way too much! Thanks for watching
You couldn’t be boring if you tried! Rock on Dave...love hearing your thoughts on things.I love rain and never complain about it because I hate drought so immensely..God bless you and keep on keeping on.
Thanks Lorie! I love rain too. Rain brings life to everything in the wilderness. Thanks for watching
Yes Sir....I want to be David Pearson when I grow up! LOL
Very well said! In modern times people definitely need to spend more time with their kids. Thanks for the comments and thanks for watching
Take care
Shane
Sitting in a dry creek bed, making coffee...perfect 😎
Hard to put into words but yep, I think you and I are a lot alike and think alike. We both weld and fabricate and enjoy it but, even as a hobby that can get old. Almost turn into a second job. The woods are a calling and we are a answering! I'm glad you liked it. Thanks for watching Shane
Reallybigmonkey1 anytime man. I'll be seeing ya in the next one
LOL. Thanks for
watching and may God bless you too!
the tri-tripod looks great. so does the Eldris. I'm looking forward to getting a couple. In my neck of the woods, we've been having one of our wettest Octobers. Hope you get to have rain soon.
Thanks Darryl, I'm glad you liked em both. I would take wet wet wet over dry any day! . Thanks for watching
Me too.
Wow! I hadnt heard about the 300 acres. Nope, no patents yet.
Enjoyed spending time with Dave. Your draught, in Australia is called summer, fire bans every year.
Always great to be on here with friends. I have heard how hot and dry it gets there.
Georgia is dry, and up here in Alberta we had over 19" since about mid-June. I'll make sure to send some rain down your way Dave!
Wow! Send us some rain Mike!
Take care my friend
-Chris
Thanks Chris! Brother send us some rain down South! Be good man
I love spending time with Dave! THX again for your view on bushcraft...
Its always great for me to chat with all my friends!
Greetings from your next door neighbors across the river in South Carolina. Love your work and what do in the channel, you are a walking encyclopedia. I always learn something new. EL Oso (ED)
Greetings back at ya from Georgia Ed! I'm glad you liked it and always learn. Thanks for watching
Amen Brother! after a day in the shop you need to get out in the woods. Love bushcraft, camping, and just being out in the woods. Love you videos.
And into the woods we need to be as often as possible! Take care and Thanks for watching Gerald
always enjoy your rambling, thanks for another great video. we are dealing with the drought too here in california, so no fires allowed also. getting good use outta our jetboil now lol plus learning how to cook on it which is actually a lil challenging. they are best at just boiling water.
I recommend your channel to all Dave, as it was your work that launched my
pursuit of Bushcraft education and greater enjoyment.
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it Justin. Thanks for the rain wishes and Thanks for watching
Dave you are the man! I really like that little gadget. And it's small and easy to pack and never know its there till you need it. Good job.
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it. I am always trying to make things that are small light weight and handy! Thanks for watching
"You don't even have to make a good job of it - Just do it!" thats right Dave wise words!!
Lol, thanks Andy!
That is sad to hear about the Drought...I like the new tripod disc.....The brown sugar and canned milk coffee looked good !!!
Man Im so ready for the drought to be over. I'm glad you liked it all. Thanks for watching brother
Another Great Video. I am a Coffee Fanatic, so I really enjoyed this video. Your explanation of why you love Bush Craft was both Masterful and Sincere at the same time. Thanks Again, Florida, USA.
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it. From one coffee fanatic to another, Thanks for watching
Hi Dave
Thanks Jerry. Im happy your drought ended. Thats always a good thing about the Ticks!
Thanks also for the right-on reflection of why we like to be out in the woods....
You are very welcome Julius. Thanks for watching
it's extremely DRY & hot here in Alabama.....we ain't seen a drop in over 2 months....all the creeks are dry....hate it...!!
I hear ya Todd. Sounds just like us next door in Georgia.
