The pan carrier transforming into the surprise face mask that doubles as a pillow is my favorite!! You have the best laugh! You are such a great teacher...I learn so much.
Hey man, just found your channel and this is the first video I have watched. I have been an outdoorsman for a long time and I didn't expect to see anything new or interesting here, but I have to admit, I learned a few things. Good job!
Shawn, I know.... I had heard of and seen his channel many times in the last 14 mths.... but am a new fan of the channel, he is a Southern Bushcrafty Genius!!
One of the reasons why I enjoy your vids so much is because you seem to be having so much fun and so relaxed. I've learned so much from you and I hope you keep making em! Looking forward to your next one! Thanks again~!
+gary s Thanks Gary! Man I am usually relaxing and just having fun on every vid. I sometimes get stressed when things dont work out but I just film anyway. LOL. Always great to hear when a friend has learned from me. Take care and Thanks for watching
You also have a delightful way of putting things and a nice southern accent that I find relaxing. Your laughter and humor always leaves me with a smile or grin on my face. Thanks for your videos; I'm a fan. Wes (now in Idaho by way of Tennessee).
+Wes41 Thank you Wes, Im glad you like the way I do things and Im happy they leave you smiling. I pretty much smile and laugh the whole time filming. Oh and, my brother and sister were both born in Murfreesboro Tennessee! Take care and Thanks for watching
I stopped this halfway thru and added it to some of my playlists on my 2nd YT profile here for stuff. Every one of your videos I end up shaking my head at stuff I see you showing, there is so much woodsy handy wisdom on your channel, I just cannot get over it man. AWESOME stuff! I am appreciative for sure. Appalachian Yoda is what you are.
Thats cool Barry! Man I gotta add, I pretty much have different items in every video. I try and show stuff once then move on and show new things so the old doesnt get beat to death. LOL. In other words, each video contains some odd surprises!. I love that Appalachian Yoda thing! Take care brother Barry.
here comes multi use dave with his "hanging stuff bushcraft" ideas - lol brother thats too cool for school, your a youtube pioneer dave. awesome inventions. take care my friend
+funkyprepper "Multi Use Dave"? LOL! I like that brother! Always great to hear from you man and Im glad you liked it. Take care and Thanks for watching
David, I haven't watched any of the "10 item" themed videos, but, when I saw the title of your video I couldn't wait to see it! I knew it would be unique. I enjoy seeing these simple yet effective camp craft designs of yours. From tactical survival Wal-mart bag to tactical Ninja cooking hood this video had a lot of neat ideas. Its always a pleasure to hear about your mentors, too. Take care friend, Tim
+boggycreekbeast LOL, brother I had fun with this one. I knew it would be cool when it stated "show what you carry that others dont" I should have just showed my whole gear pile. LOL. Im glad you liked it man, Thanks for watching brother Tim.
HaHaHa! True! Thats why I love your channel so much. Unique and original. I don't like copy cats. Too many on youtube as it is ;) I made one of those Reds Rings once after seeing it in one of your earlier videos. Thanks for showing it again friend. Talk to you later David
I believe your "extra tall Billie can" is really an asparagus cooking pot. To properly cook asparagus, you should cook it standing up with just the lower stems in the boiling water. That way the stems boil and the heads steam. The stems are tougher. Tex
Hello Dave I was watching some of your older videos again and this one really caught my attention. I was very impressed by both Reds Rings and your Pan Bag / Hoodie . I went out to my Shop and made both of them. The only thing i added was i made a toggle with an eyelet so i can change pots without unhooking the rings.Over the last year or so I have used the hoodie many times up here in the cold north country i live in. Like you i get almost as much enjoyment making gear as using it. I look forward to your videos especially the D I Y ones . The best to you'
Hello my friend! We do think alike. Half the fun is making the gear! Im amazed if you got the hood thing right the first time. Most folks have to sew up two or three to get it right. Sounds like a good addition for Reds Rings. I showed em just like he made em out of respect for it being his idea but a hook is an improvement.
Hi Dave. I completely appreciate showing something as original. It does show respect. As for understanding patterns etc. my brain just seems to dissect things like that. I cant take any credit for it just works that way. The down side is my head fills up with images of dozens of projects waiting to get loose. Watching you just gets everything swirling faster. Its a real pleasure to watch your videos. Paul
This has got to be the best channel on UA-cam! Even the most experienced bushcrafter or survivalist would learn something new every video! Thank you very much for sharing your ideas and knowledge with us!
Another great video David. I know I will always be entertained when I find one of your videos on my sub list. Having been a survivalist for over 30 years, I learned to appreciate comfort in the woods. I have to say I have learned a lot from you since I first started watching your videos. Makes me wish I was 30 years old again. Good job David. Keep it up.
+zzzgeok Thank you my friend, Im glad you liked it. Thats awesome you have been doing this for 30 years. I have been a bushcrafter/camper for right at 28 years. Thats very cool you have learned from me. Lots more to come!
You have so many cool, great stuff on your shelf my friend and you made an awesome video to show ( some?) of them! I bet you have some more stuff there you one day will dust off to show us. And I am looking forward to that day. Thanks for this video! I really enjoyed it! /Ulrica
+Gullrica LOL, you know me well Ulrica! I have shelves and piles of weird gear and supplies. I like to show em a few at a time so I can have something new to always show. Always great to hear from you. Take care and Thanks for watching
Great video Dave! It was great to be reminded of some of those clever things you have. I've always wanted a hanging grill like your V-grill. I think they're smart for certain situations. And, two things of yours I've adopted are your welders blanket (I'm always in danger of setting things on fire with these little wood stoves I've tried) and a movers blanket for special situations. I'd forgotten about some of these things, and there are unique things you've shown before that you didn't show this time. All good. This has been a fun time watching this. Cheers friend.
+John W MacDonald Thank you John, Im glad you liked it. Thats cool you have used two of my ideas! That welders blanket is just plain a good idea for all kinds of safety reasons when using a tarp and a fire. I often forget about some of the things Ive shown since there around 105 videos out now. Take care and Thanks for watching
If you were a boxer you'd be Dave "The Alabama Hammer" Pearson and your special move would be the multi tool combo punch :) Very inventive my friend and I'm learning tons of stuff, thanks.
A another great video! I really enjoy watching your videos on this subject ,because you make it fun and still very informative! I also enjoy seeing all the cool items you make yourself and your improvising of different items! Thanks so much for taking the time to share with us!
OUTSTANDING video David,As a welder of nearly 40 years, I get the feeling you are one as well, the use of stainless TIG wire for your custom items is inspiring,I will be fabbing up a V grill soon!! WELL DONE once again!! GOD bless.
+Duke Sinner Thanks Duke, I'm glad you liked it man. Thats always good to meet a fellow welder. I love Tig welding the best for this kinds stuff. Make a V grill and if you havent seen it, check out this other grill if you have time brother. ua-cam.com/video/vm3gNdy-j_w/v-deo.html
Well done Dave! I enjoyed all your creative items. I certainly will make and use Red's rings, RIP Red. The way you can pull the stick and then ramp the leather cord away from the fire to retrieve the pot is a bonus to the suspension system. I had fun watching your enthusiastic demonstration of all the items. Your metal working skills are obvious and understandable but your sewing machine skills.... who taught you how to operate the sewing machine? I've tried and I either break something or end up with a rats nest of thread. Thanks and keep smiling.
Thanks Don, I'm glad you liked it all. Well I got a used sewing machine and didnt know how to get started so I started watching basic sewing vids. As I sewed, I watched more and more vids and finally got pretty decent at it! Thanks for watching
Dave, since I found your video's I have become a real big fan, I'm an old man now but it brings back so many good memories of when my boys were kids & I took em out camping in the forest. The years have flown past and they are men now but age brings it's own rewards. You should see the look on my grand sons faces at night , when I tell them bed time stories. They love the one about that Bear you fought off with your bear hands one night when we were on the trail together. I just love these videos Dave, more power to ya! Thank you so much my friend, I have learned so much since I have been watching your video's Take care & God Bless you son. Chris.
+Christopher Poole Thank you Chris, Im happy you like the vids so much and they have taught you a little. Absolutely nothing wrong with being old. If it wasnt for two old men being my mentors, I wouldnt be doing all this outdoors stuff today. With age comes wisdom and mainly knowing what not to do. LOL. Thats cool telling your grandkids about the old times. Funny thing, I have a bear story I need to tell one day! Take care now and Thanks for watching
You did fantastically on this challenge. There wasn't a single one that I didn't learn something. I either learned about a new item, or learned new things about each item. It has me stoked for learning more, but also freaked out that I feel I have so much more to learn.
an idea for improving your V-Grill, replace the rods with threaded studs (or all thread) and use a nut instead of the tubing that they go in so it can't fall apart during setup or when attaching it to a tree this should also make it more stable over all
+Stuart Mangold You would think that would be a great idea but, anytime I have ever used threads or nuts on a stainless steel grill, once its assembled and heats up, the threads gald and you can never ever get them apart. I pretty much have to stick with studs and sockets.
As ALWAYS, I really enjoyed your video! Thanks for the multitude of bushcraft tips & tricks and your wonderful sense of humor! Can't wait to check out your friends tips and tricks also and safe bushcraft to you always!
You've amazed me again Dave! I look at a lot of bushcraft videos, but yours are unique in that you are so creative and you make or make a lot better almost all of your gear and equipment. I love that tree gril, that's amazing! While most people would have a it of trouble carrying 10 unique items. But I'm sure that you could have easily showed well over 20 or 30 items! Good to see you again Dave!
+David Fiorini Thanks David, Im glad you liked it. Funny thing, I was just mentioned to another comment that I may could have gone past 20 maybe up to 30 that no one carries! I have a lot of weird off the wall homemade gear. Thanks for watching
Genius inventor of the backwoods! I now have a vision of someone sneaking around your camp, at night. Only to hear this tremendous clatter, and a curse, as you headbutt all the pots and pans. Then you come tearing out, waving your machete, but wearing your balaclava pillow you would look like some kind of giant-headed alien! The fellow had better hope he decided to wear his brown pants.
Wow! A Bush Crafter...and a 'Tree Hugger'. That is a great bungee pack hanger hack. The Scout stew pot certainly brings back memories to me: mainly of frustration with how aluminum has hot spots and how difficult it was to clean the carbon off the outside (if you didn't know enough to coat the outside with soap suds. Survival 'guys' are really just like you: they take what they find and make what they need. What an insightful video. A am a Yankee...but I sure do admire what you know and how your teach it! I have seldom seen such a quick and easy tarp shelter, with the fireplace hacks that looks so inviting to an outdoors person.
LOL, man Im both. I'm glad you liked it. Funny you mentioned cleaning the pots, I just let mine scale over black. You say youre a yankee? Believe it or not, my Dad was born in Nassau county hospital in Long Island New York! Thanks for watching
Thank you Dave for getting me out in the woods for just a little while. It may just be in my mind but it helps. I can almost smell the those woods. Your videos mean so much.
I was thinking about you last night and wondering when your next video would show up,and lo and behold here you are. Always good to see a new post from you...lots of unique stuff showcased in this video. Thank you for your time and effort.
Dave, you truly are the mad scientist of the woods. some really novel ideas. as always your vids are informative and entertaining. you must be looking forward to the cooler weather. I am for sure. I'll be in the woods almost every weekend till the hot weather returns. take care.
+Cantab Hiker LOL, Now thats a cool saying! Im happy you like what all I do, its all fun to me. I absolutely love the cooler weather. Sometimes I just go on an overnighter in a boring shelter with no camera and just have some alone time. Ya gotta relax and unwind. See ya in the woods brother and Thanks for watching
All that cookware! you are one long coil of copper tubing away from having a backpack-able moonshine rig! LOL! I really like your survival sack. Just got done watching this video, and already looking forward to the next one.
+Darryl Machtmes LOL! Youre about right! I probably could get a mini still in my larger pack if I had to. Im happy you liked the vid, see you in the next one and Thanks for watching Darryl
Please don't concern yourself with what a few think. You'll never make everyone happy. There is no way the fire is reaching that tree and even if it did, who cares. The tree doesn't care so why should anyone else..
This one was great! Lots of fun!! Brain candy.. :)Thanks David!! Really really good stuff. Thoroughly enjoyed watching this one's parts. The pots hanging up reminded me of like a tinkers wagon type thing :) lol ..As always, thank you so much for sharing all of this!!
+Ruth Elgers Thanks, I'm glad you liked it Ruth. Im sure theres plenty here for other ideas. LOL, my tinker wagon look almost looked like a homeless camp! Thanks for watching.
OMG! The Rube Goldberg of Backpacking! Ingenious! So I've come to the realization that, with all the wacko & clever stuff you've collected/built, you must have several hundred possible combinations of gear available. It would take me two years just to figure out what I was going to take out on a trip. Long and short of it, I don't know how you ever make it out of the house! But, given the fun you obviously have concocting all that stuff, you probably have more fun at home anyway. You are truly one of a kind! Love your imagination!
+James Franck Thanks James! I can be a little creative at times. LOL. Actually it isnt hard for me to decide on whats going into my pack on a trip. I always know the season, location climate and environment. That along with knowing the number of days and expected weather and you can almost always pack a viable pack for the trip. Ill also admit, making the gear is half the fun! Thanks for watching
Thank you again for all your hard work making your vids. Every time I watch one of your videos I come up with stuff to make myself; you really give me ideas. That vee-grill is pure genius. I have a bad back and useless knees and it completely solves the problem. I will make it as a shelf-type setup. Thanks for helping the handicapped! :)
+StandsWithABeer Youre very welcome brother and Im glad you can use some of my ideas. I know exactly what it means to have a bad back, I have flare ups from time to time and my brother has severe spine injuries. Its terrible to live with. Good luck with the project and Thanks for watching
You're a genius. I love your videos, you always think differently, that's how great things are made. I appreciate all the time you put into your ideas. Steve.
+C Veg (Bushcraft) Thanks Steve Im glad you like what all I do so much. Ya gotta think differently or better ways will never happen. Take care and Thanks for watching
I was looking for the bungee cords and wondered why I could not find any exactly like yours . I am pretty handy with a sewing machine so can't wait to make the covers. Little pokey things had me rolling on the floor !
When I bought them they were sold under the name secure tite. I believe the name has changed but them still come up under that's search. Thanks for watching Pam!
Hey Dave, nice video! I like your new cinematography style; it mixes things up and its cool to see a channel develop as the person learns newer filming techniques etc. - so keep it up; I reckon you're doing great!
+Tristan Janse van Rensburg Thank you Tristan, Im glad you like the way Im doing things. Im trying all kinds of new things just to try and mix it up a little and be different as possible. Thanks for watching
I've watched a lot of your video's for the past month and have really enjoyed them but this one did it , Subbed . Thanks my brother for the upload . GOD bless you and yours .
Of course it's impossible to watch your channel and not learn something. Most of what you've shown here is amazing, but I didn't expect less. 10 things= no way + Reallybigmonkey = Dave's delightful brilliance shines through ! As a Floridian in constant swamp, that V-grill is amazing, but I'm not a welder so I may have to work out my own salvation with fear and trembling. We all love you, brother.
Dave I have to say it truly is fun watching your videos. you keep it light hearted and not afraid to make fun of yourself. Now I do have to say your my hero! I was ready to fall out of that tree. When you pulled me down. :) Thanks for the great video and a peek into the Q esque fun stuff you carry Mr Woodsy Bond. You have a good one sir!! Puts corks on all those "pokey" things. Safety ya know. :)
+Certawin I try my best to keep it fun and light hearted, Im not Rambo, LOL. Good to hear Im youre hero, Im usually called weirdo by my neighbors and coworkers. :). Im happy you liked it, Thanks for watching
The snow is hitting hard where I live. So I've been binge watching your channel for about 4 days now lol. So glad I subscribed to your channel because I'm learning so much from your videos. Keep doing what you're doing brother, and I'll keep watching!
Ah man we rarely ever get snow here but I know up North y'all get sick of it. I'm glad you're liking the videos, thanks for the sub and for watching my friend!
Dave, such a wonderful job. I think this was one of your best vids to date. I am really glad I subscribed years ago!! Your passion to create and share is inspiring. Please keep doing what you do my Woodland Southern Brother!!
+BossWarEagle Thank you my friend, Im glad you liked it that much! I was really into this one, I rarely show this much never before shown stuff in one video. Lots more new and wild stuff to come brother. Thanks for watching
we watch your vids all the time ...we love day camping and over niters...your vids are the real way things happen and this is why your vids are so good , reality is what people needs to see and you sir are doing a very good job....fr our family to yours keep safe out there
Awesome Dave! great items, really enjoyed this video and all your great ideas and inventions. Amazing, Thanks again. Couldn't believe that pot holder bag/balaclava, what a neat item.
I hope everyone realizes the trouble you go through to make a vid like this. Packing up all the neat things you shared with us comes to mind. As well as the trip back and forth to the woods. I certainly do. I look forward to your vids and I have seen them all. Hope Nick can film some more with you. Would like to see some more shop vids or progress on the Chevy. Many thanks for all the time you put in on the videos.
+joenet42567 You hit it right on the head, it is a lot of work to plan, prepare and film these videos. They are fun but, they are also work. I hope Nick gets back interested too. It was fun having him along and it also cut the work in half, lol. Take care and Thanks for watching
+Black Hat Bushcraft Thanks! I'm glad you liked it all so much. Make you a set of Reds Rings when ever you can. They are super handy. Take care brother and Thanks for watching
Yep I've recently found ur channel too. And I am learning so much from watching. Heck I watch so much now I can't even get my own work done. Lol. Thanks for all that u share.
Always great to hear that and I'm happy you like what all I do so much. LOL, sorry Im taking up so much time. Mors Kochanskis and Lofty Wisemans videos did the same thing to me! Thanks for watching
You sir, are a Leonardo Di Vinci of bushcrafting! I always enjoy your videos, and this one was another great example. Of interest was the "Alabama hammer" as we have the same tool in Texas. (Only bigger of course...; }) Thanks for all your efforts!
+stg04562 Thank you! And Im glad you always enjoy the vids. LOL, I believe every neighboring state has their own rock/hammers. Take care and Thanks for watching
I'm a recent subscriber and just wanted to say thanks for all the neat ideas you've shared with us. I'm looking forward to building my first Flat Head Shelter in about a week or so on a three day trip.
+Chris Aitken Thanks for the sub Chris and Im always happy to share. Thats awesome youre gonna give Flatheads Frame a try! Good luck with it and have fun. Thanks for watching
Once again another great video full of new interesting things. Your videos really get me to thinking about gear i have wanted make for awhile. Glad to see i'm not the only one that says tuck in stead of took, my wife has made fun of me for years for it. I had to show her the video to prove its a southern thing, i'm from South Carolina stuck in Indiana.
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it brother. Sometimes making gear is half the fun! Lol, tell your wife all us Southerners sound the same. Take care and thanks for watching
one good item is a pair of channel locks(or pliers) to grab hot things with, bend all your wire creations, even defend yourself from pesky critters, and before you question the efficacy of tools as weapons, I once killed an adult possum with a spanner.
Glad to see a new video from you Dave. I've gotten so many great tips and ideas from you past ones.... and recommended your posts to backpacking buddies when they all (eventually) ask "Where and how did you come up with that?"... I gotta get one of those heat resistant wielding blankets for my pack! Northern Tool carries them... I noticed that when I bought MY bungees there.... Covered mine with some leftover canvas... :-)
+Jerry Dismukes Im always happy to be on here Jerry. Thanks for telling others about my channel, thats cool man. Aint it neat when you can show fellow campers and hikers stuff thats weird and different? To me, thats half the fun! Take care and Thanks for watching
Wow just amazing !! I love the fact that you have such talent and skills to make great ideas for easy use making it practical and easy ....no need for response...I'm glad to freely comment on all your videos ...looking fwd to next video
Hi dav great video as usual. Always a pleasure to watch what mad stuff you pull out of your pack and entertainment us with. Im going to have to try and make them wooden rings, they look pretty cool. I might have to go outmand make my dinner on a fire this afternoon now, you've inspired me to play outside for a bit. Well you stay safe and take care and I'll look forward to the next one . Cheers.
+Bold Bushcrafter Thanks , I'm glad you liked it. No telling whats gonna come out of my pack next? LOL. Good luck on the rings, they are fun to make and fun to use. I have a fire pit in my back yard and I cook out there all the time myself. Take care and Thanks for watching
Another great video! Those plastic containers you use to store your hooks look just like some that I have that I confiscated and re-purposed when in the reman business. Water pump bearing containers if I remember right. Anyway, love your ideas and your creativity. I've GOT to make some of those wooden "O" rings! Just wish I was set up to weld SS... Only have a MIG welder.
+Terry Beeson Thanks Terry, Im glad you liked it man. Im sure them containers are used for lots of stuff, what sucks is you cant buy em, stuff gets shipped in them, LOL. Mine was what a Milwaukee hole hawg arbor was shipped in. In the machine shop I work in, we get all kinds of cutting tools in them containers. As far as a mig goes, you can get SS wire and some migs actually have a spot welding setting. It works good on grill building because it times a high amp short blast of SS in one spot. Thanks for watching
Great vid Dave. Always a treat. Love the 2 wooden rings. Wonder if you could use a couple of smaller carabineers in place of those. Gonna have to give it a try. Steer clear of those little pointy things my friend.
+Max Allister Thank you Max, Im glad you liked it. Yes, you can use two carabineers. Anything oval that will past through itself will work. I use the hand carved wooden rings out of respect for the guy that created it, just as he made it years ago. LOL, I hate little pointy things!
Good Mornin' Dave!! Another great video, some items I haven't seen in quite a while. The reason I decided to comment on this video was because of an item that you showed and one that you talked about. I watched the video of these items when you first showed them but just something that you said today really gave me a great idea. The v-grill and the pocket paracord seat, intended to give you items to use in wetlands, when you have to be off of the ground. (or if you physically cant get up and down on the ground) I have had several back surgeries and can no longer get up and down on the ground without lots of pain. This has kept me from getting out with my daughter and enjoying the woods. Having a grill that can be put up at a comfortable level as well as a seat that I can tie between two trees and not have to get up and down, would allow me to get back out in the woods and enjoy the things we love to do, instead of just watching videos and wishing. Thanks for another great video my friend. ( I still think the "Elcheapo heated tarp shelter" is one of my favorites if not my favorite videos :) ) Have a great day!!
+Bruce Barlow Thank you Bruce , I'm glad you liked it. Thats awesome you remembered the V grill and that paracord pocket seat. Them are very cool out in the wetlands. Yes, youre right, anyone with a back injury or issues would benefit from the V grill anytime. I often have back issues myself and I either have to stand or lay down. Kneeling or sitting just kills me. Funny thing, that El Cheapo video wasnt even planned. I just threw stuff in a pack and went out with a camera, lol. Take care and Thanks for watching
+elpasokid 53 Thank you my friend, Im glad you liked it all. I always love me some red beans and rice but there just wasnt time to do any real cooking on this one
You're really in trouble now Dave! No health warning on the piped skewer saying which end to stick in your mouth. Expect legal suits for millions in damages. Some really great ideas here, I particularly like Red's rings, the S-rings and the V-grill but they're all good. Great post and good to see you're still filming. Thanks for sharing. Paul
+TheRunereaper LOL! Youre about right Paul. I always get in trouble for showing such dangerous camping items. Im glad you liked it all, Thanks for watching my friend
I also like carrying multi use items for the shear versatility. I like many of the items here from the bungee to the very nice way to use hooks for more than just fishing. Ty for sharing...maybe i should show a few off myself soon. C.R.
+Creative Redundancy Thanks C.R., Im glad you liked it. You and I think alike, have more than one use for every item carried. Show us your ten my friend and Thanks for watching
Hey Daaave!! Love the new vid. I agree with Wes41 -- you have a great way of putting things and I knew you'd easily be able to find 10 things that no other folks carry. And I'm sure you could find 15 more given all the stuff you make yourself. I look for your posts every day -- no pressure. We all just love seeing your vids! :-)
+Connie Flohr Thank you Connie, Im glad you liked it. I was kinda thinking I could have came up with 20 to 30. Maybe more? This one was a lot of fun. Take care and Thanks for watching
Love the pillow head sock pan thingy. Top stuff as usual and as of writing this no thumbs down hooray!!! No need to do my silly little "why they don't like it". Great stuff mate. Always love it when I see a new vid from you. It's always about having fun. Cheers mate.
+Matt Lilly Thanks Matt , I'm glad you liked it along with everyone else that did! LOL. I cant not believe I got no thumbs down so far. Normally the first day I get at least five. Im pretty darn happy. Lets hope its the same on the next, Hee Hee. Take care and Thanks for watching
You really have some clever ideas friend! That V-grill is simply amazing! It's very inspiring watching your videos. I really wish you would give your Dakota pit idea another try, maybe modify the design somewhat. I really like your idea of a small portable shelter! Take care Dave!
+crazygamingswede Thank you my friend ! I love using that V grill, I just havent shown it much. I do still have the frame and part of the cover for that Dakota pit tent and I may rebuild it but, I have a wicked winter shelter up my sleeve to show yall thats gonna be a mind blower! Stay tuned
+Reallybigmonkey1 Whoo! I'm looking forward to that! Meanwhile I'll try to figure out how to make a tiny poncho heating device.. (one of my crazier ideas ha ha) Take care!
Awesome vid Dave! And i loved the homemade "hook hanger handle" and the "face mask bag"........................ Still laughing with "little poking'thing", "shining silver stuff"!!!!!!! LoL
Hay David; Been awhile trying 2 get caught up on my videos. Wonderful line-up of goodies. Always a pleasure 2 follow along with an awesome woods adventure ! Many thanks 4 sharing with us friend. Hello Nick !......................ATB Terry.....God Bless
+T.W. Milburn (skillet210) Thanks Terry, Im glad you liked it brother. Watch the vids when you can I always say. Thanks for watching and may God bless you too.
You might be surprised to know that I have a very similar balaclava. It’s not quite as long as yours, but it is very similar. You might not be surprised to know that I never thought to use it as a bag! Lol. If you put an extra strip in that, you can also turn it up and use it as a hat and a scarf. So far you’ve got lots of great ideas in here. Really great ideas. Reds rings are particularly beautiful. Perhaps a part of that is how it came down through your mentorship. But it is ingenius. Your leather strips with the snaps on them definitely deserve a very honourable mention there, although if you leave it on the handle of the pot, you have to be careful not to burn yourself on the snap later. I must confess, I either use cotton or silicone for that. But the leather is much more practical, as it can also be used for a strop later, which might be really important for somebody who uses a blade lots, Requiring it to be sharp at all times. That V-grill of yours is like nothing else. What a great idea for when you want to be out hiking and camping, and you need to have a bite to eat before you can finish making camp. No need to dig out the snow before setting a fire. You could just start Cooking your meal as you put her around setting up camp. That’s a product you could sell a lot of.
Thanks for the comments and I'm glad you like all my gear! As a side note, that V grill was originally developed for use in wetlands, swamps and for kayak trips! Take care and thanks for watching Daphne
+Weston Probst Thanks , I'm glad you liked it. Im sure theres plenty of varieations on them rings, but that hoodie is a one of a kind! LOL. Thanks for watching
Real survivalist video! Starts with a 10 item challenge, just show your stuff, but ends up showing how us to build a full shelter! LOL, I probably learned more in this single video than 10 others from any 10 other guys...
I swear I heard banjos in the back ground. Hillbilly camp to the hilt. That got me chuckling, but then you pull out the dang mask pot bag. Made me fall off the couch. I was waiting to see where you were going to pull the rabbit from out next. My friend you are a national treasure. I can't imagine anyone else pulling ten item off the shelf that no one else would be carrying let alone have on this planet. Good stuff bub. always a pleasure!!
+Sam Spaun LOL! I dont know how to respond other than you have the best comments yet! Im happy you liked it so much, Thanks for the comments and Thanks for watching Sam
Dude if you only knew how eager you viewing public are for your videos. I will predict this; of all the bushcraft associates that are out there I say you SHOULD be the next to get on the history channel, discovery channel, wild hog caller of America channel, some damn channel. You're no Trapper Jack mainly because you have better hair, but you're just as talented.
+Sam Spaun Thanks Sam but Im not holding my breath. I got several show offers to be like on one episode of some idiotic show then about a year ago I had a program developer contact me about my own show. They was pretty serious and got the ball rolling and then they just stopped all contact with me. I guess Im not dramatic enough to keep the TV crowd entertained. LOL.
did you show them the pot bag mask? That would have sold the show. I guess they're looking for more Like "House Hussies of Dallas and crap like that. Dave Canterberrys back on tv. The show really aint too bad. Anyway us subs are still holding out hope for a Big Monkey show on the big screen.
Enjoyed the video! I like the fact that a lot of your gear is custom made. I can see a lot of uses for the skewer/gig. I have been thinking about making something like that myself. That stainless still instrument air tubing is handy for a lot of bush craft projects. I actually have made a figure 4 deadfall trigger out of the stuff( I have not tried it yet in a real world situation), but it seems to work pretty well in the shop. Thanks for sharing brother!
+Kentucky Woodsman Thanks Brother, Im glad you liked it. To me, half the fun is making the gear! Thats very very cool you made a deadfall out of that stuff! What an incredible idea. Thats something good to carry because you dont always have luck making one when you really need one. Thanks for watching
Hey David! Another awesome video of you. I wonder if you could make another crafting video like the shovaxe tool or the home made machete. I really like all of your videos, they're funny and informative. Big Fan!!! Greetings from Germany
+el farto Thanks, Im glad you liked it. I actually have been planning on filming myself making a full forged machete. I just havent gotten around to doing it but plan on it this winter. Take care and thanks for watching
The pan carrier transforming into the surprise face mask that doubles as a pillow is my favorite!! You have the best laugh! You are such a great teacher...I learn so much.
+joyfuldenay Thank you my friend, Im glad you liked it. That pillow mask bag thing even amazes me sometimes! LOL. Thanks for watching
Hey man, just found your channel and this is the first video I have watched. I have been an outdoorsman for a long time and I didn't expect to see anything new or interesting here, but I have to admit, I learned a few things. Good job!
Thanks Shawn! Always great to hear when a fellow outdoorsman can learn from me. Take care and thanks for watching.
Take care brother Barry.
here comes multi use dave with his "hanging stuff bushcraft" ideas - lol
brother thats too cool for school, your a youtube pioneer dave.
awesome inventions.
take care my friend
On km
I believe your "extra tall Billie can" is really an asparagus cooking pot. To properly cook asparagus, you should cook it standing up with just the lower stems in the boiling water. That way the stems boil and the heads steam. The stems are tougher. Tex
+TexasScout Noneofyourbusiness Thanks Tex! I actually had no idea what that pot was originally intended for. Thanks for the info.
Hello Dave
I was watching some of your older videos again and this one really caught my attention.
You are very welcome and I'm glad you like my channel that much!
Man, I love all the creativity you put in your gear! Those extreme tentstakes are awesome! Thx for sharing, Cheers, Marc
+Scouting Free Thank you Marc, Im glad you liked it and Thanks for watching Brother.
LOL! Very cool "punch" lines! Thanks for watching my friend
A another great video! I really enjoy watching your videos on this subject ,because you make it fun and still very informative! I also enjoy seeing all the cool items you make yourself and your improvising of different items! Thanks so much for taking the time to share with us!
+Lynn Moore Thank you Lynn, Im glad you liked it. I gotta say, I had a blast showing all these weird items! Thanks for watching
Chuckle - chuckle ... another Reallybigmonkey1 Classic!!! ... Thanks for another genius video, David! --- Clark
Make a V grill and if you havent seen it, check out this other grill if you have time brother. ua-cam.com/video/vm3gNdy-j_w/v-deo.html
you are the MacGyver of bushcraft a great to see you out there doing some more videos superb
+Mark Smith Thanks Mark! Im my happiest when Im out there. Thanks for watching
Gotta love UA-cam.
Unique and practical at the same time. Brilliant.
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it!
Great video! You are fascinating to watch! Be well.
You did fantastically on this challenge. There wasn't a single one that I didn't learn something. I either learned about a new item, or learned new things about each item.
It has me stoked for learning more, but also freaked out that I feel I have so much more to learn.
Thanks! I'm glad you liked it! As long as you you keep learning you'll never age mentally! Thanks for watching
an idea for improving your V-Grill, replace the rods with threaded studs (or all thread) and use a nut instead of the tubing that they go in so it can't fall apart during setup or when attaching it to a tree this should also make it more stable over all
+Stuart Mangold You would think that would be a great idea but, anytime I have ever used threads or nuts on a stainless steel grill, once its assembled and heats up, the threads gald and you can never ever get them apart. I pretty much have to stick with studs and sockets.
I realized later that it wouldn't work properly with out some specialist studs anyway
As always you exceed expectations and do it in a disarming, relaxed manner.....don't change. Great instructional stuff. Thanks again.
+Julius Gonzo Thanks Julius , Im glad you liked it and learned from it. Thanks for watching
Well if anybody was going to make that challenge easy is was always going to be you. Another good vid DaveKeep um coming.. cheers
+Maff T LOL, as far as werid stuff no one carries, that tag is right up my alley! Thanks for watching Maff
As ALWAYS, I really enjoyed your video! Thanks for the multitude of bushcraft tips & tricks and your wonderful sense of humor! Can't wait to check out your friends tips and tricks also and safe bushcraft to you always!
Thanks Kenn, I'm glad you liked it. Thanks for watching and see ya in the next one brother
LOL love that pot/hat... I'd call it a potaclava >_o
Great items!
Thanks for the video
+Eat Carbs Rock on brother Mark! I love that name man, if I ever show it again, its got a proper name now. Thanks for watching
Thanks for watching
awesome.. you should patent your stuff man.. goodbye cabellas.. hello fun in the woods.. i know i would buy it!!!
Lol! Just souds like another day at camp for me!
I wish that I had the mechanical aptitude and machinery that you have for making stuff.
Thanks for watching
you made my jaw drop with the Pillow head
Its pretty neat aint it?
I am constantly amazed at how many different uses you find for an item! I love your videos!
LOL, ya gotta look at things from all angles Brother! I'm glad you like the videos, Thanks for watching
i love your V grill, genious, thanks for the vid
+flon57 Thanks! And Im always happy to share.
Thank you Dave for getting me out in the woods for just a little while. It may just be in my mind but it helps. I can almost smell the those woods. Your videos mean so much.
+Randy Musick Youre very welcome Randy, Im happy I could bring a little woods feeling to you, Thanks for watching
Always been a favorite of mine Dave, nother' great vid.. thanks..
+dzac01 Thanks Brother , I'm glad you like what I do that much. Thanks for watching
I was thinking about you last night and wondering when your next video would show up,and lo and behold here you are.
Always good to see a new post from you...lots of unique stuff showcased in this video.
Thank you for your time and effort.
+willynthepoorboys2 LOL, you must have sent me some vibes to upload then! Im happy you liked it, Thanks for watching
There u go huggin trees again. Dave, u make very good vids.
+Dennis Cook Trees need some lovin too, LOL! Im happy you like the vids, Thanks for watching
Dave,
you truly are the mad scientist of the woods. some really novel ideas. as always your vids are informative and entertaining.
you must be looking forward to the cooler weather.
I think you should change your name to Reallycreativemonkey1 :) Good stuff!
- Martin
+NorwegianWoods LOL, Thank you brother!
I knew they couldn't hold you down to ten items. Love your videos.
Awesome items , every time I see a video of you I am amazed about the creative stuff you make.
+Martin bushcraft Thank you Brother, Im glad you liked it. To me, making the gear is half the fun!
best channel for novice survivalist and weekend outdoorsman. goes in depth on how to use the items and any variations and fun to watch
Thank you Ricky!
No thank you for the videos
No thank you for the videos
This was fun to watch. Love everything you showed. The V Grill is awesome and the pot bag / balaclava is a hoot and brilliant.
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it all brother!
+Reallybigmonkey1
Thanks for the sub, that means a lot. Cheers Steve.
Thanks for the sub Matthew and I'm glad you like the videos. Thanks for watching and may God bless you too!
Great to hear that Joe! And thanks for watching
Thanks for watching
we watch your vids all the time ...we love day camping and over niters...your vids are the real way things happen and this is why your vids are so good , reality is what people needs to see and you sir are doing a very good job....fr our family to yours keep safe out there
Thank you Doris and I'm glad you like the videos! I try to keep em as real as possible.
Awesome Dave! great items, really enjoyed this video and all your great ideas and inventions. Amazing, Thanks again. Couldn't believe that pot holder bag/balaclava, what a neat item.
Thanks, I'm glad you liked em all Jeff. Man that pot holder balaclava thing was a dozie to sew! Thanks for watching
Nothing but one genius idea after another here! Loved every one! Reds rings is definitely on my list of must haves! Thank you so much for sharing!
+Black Hat Bushcraft Thanks! I'm glad you liked it all so much. Make you a set of Reds Rings when ever you can. They are super handy. Take care brother and Thanks for watching
Will do! Thanks brother!
Awesome Video! Lots of great ideas! The V-Grill is truly genus as is the pot carrier/hoodie. I like the wooden pot lifters too! Thank You Very Much!
+James White Thanks James , I'm glad you liked it all my friend. To me, half the fun is making the gear. Take care and Thanks for watching
I loved this video David.you are my favorite.Your ideas dont stop surprising me.Thanks
Thanks Luis! Im a surprise a minute! LOL.
Oh I agree. Any tool can be a weapon. Channel locks will dang near handle any chore.
I wish I had found your channel when it first came out!! You are so fun to watch!! And a really good guide as well!! But you are so cute!!
Thanks Mary!
Wow just amazing !! I love the fact that you have such talent and skills to make great ideas for easy use making it practical and easy ....no need for response...I'm glad to freely comment on all your videos ...looking fwd to next video
I try to always comment back, thanks for watching Maria
Very cool items you have and made for your camping living in the woods. Quite unique and very useful too.
Thanks Danny. Man, to me half the fun is making the gear! Take care and Thanks for watching!
Loved all the ideas here David. Timeless common sense ideas born from good old fashioned reasoning skills.
Thanks Brother Chris, I'm glad you liked it all
Fabulous camp kitchen set up too . Loving your videos .
+Iva Hill Thank you Iva! Im happy you liked it and all my videos.
Great video as always. Look forward to all of your informative information, so keep up the good work and keep them coming.
+Fred Sullivan Thanks Fred , I'm glad you liked it, Lots more in the works!
Great video Dave. I was waiting for some red beans and rice though. Thanks for giving us some awesome ideas. Red's rings are a great invention.
Enjoyed all the unique gear Dave. Some things I would not have thought of. Thanks
+Dan M Thank you Dan, Im glad you liked it. Sometimes ya gotta thing outside the box. Thanks for watching
LoL
+Faber Marchi Thank you Faber, Im glad you liked it all. LOL, I know theres technical name for them but pokey thing just hit me. Thanks for watching
I liked Red's Rings. I've seen some things similar to that, but those are nice. That pan holder/bag/hood/pillow thingy was special!
+Weston Probst Thanks , I'm glad you liked it. Im sure theres plenty of varieations on them rings, but that hoodie is a one of a kind! LOL. Thanks for watching
Again - the most brilliant collection of ideas and tools.
+Dr. Ron Goldstein Thank you Dr. Ron!
Real survivalist video! Starts with a 10 item challenge, just show your stuff, but ends up showing how us to build a full shelter! LOL, I probably learned more in this single video than 10 others from any 10 other guys...
That's fantastic to hear my friend! Thanks for watching
Great information, and a good video suitable for the whole family. Many thanks for your hard work getting this clip to us. Hal
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it Hal. Thanks for watching
Dave you have so many unique items you have made, you are truly brilliant:-)
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it all!
"looks like a hillbilly camp here" bless you man, thanks for sharing your ideas a couple really hit home for me an im excited to try them.
LOL, it looked more like a hilly billy wagon broke down. Im happy you found some good ideas in this, Thanks for watching!
