I know it’s old at this point but keep in mind you should have between 1/64-1/32” exposed wire at the end of each crimped connection, the crimp is not supposed to catch on the wire insulation (Garmin manual). Also for new people, the shield drains should face forward towards the pins not backward and then loop around to face the shell.
This video never gets old seemingly haha. Thanks for your comment. Strangely enough I'm actually picking up a Kitfox factory pre-built wiring harness for my Series 7 build today. I'll report back on what Nikk has done with the terminations
@@damienradford no worries at all, looks like great work that you did and frankly this is the way they taught it for years I’m simply referring to what is in the current G3x, etc install manual. There is a specific section which shows shield drains and it calls out not to loop them back. Frankly it’s most likely fine just wanted to make sure new people coming across this look up the instructions. Good stuff and thanks for posting this!
I might be the only nerd in the world who enjoyed this haha. Good to see your process. i'm planning to upgrade my radio to the GTR200 or GTR200B. I also want to change my Bose headsets to LEMO connector, do you think it's better to have the BT in the Garmin or in the Boses? Guess a connected app like Foreflight would broadcast callouts to every headset connected and not just one. Price wise it would be the same.
Haha, your comment made working for two hours around a camera tripod worth it :D I run foreflight on my iphone 12, stuck to my dash. Phone connects to the 200B so I can make calls. The Aera 660 connects to the Garmin GDL52 and I have a plan to connect those via data cable to 200B. I think the 200B only allows one bluetooth connection at a time.
@@climber5150 do a clean install and it beats any older radio on the market. Got my first incoming radio call and almost lost my shit because it was so clear.
@@experimental_av My KX 125 transmit got weak then eventually failed. So, I've been using a hand held. I can't wait to just have a radio and intercom again.
❤ best video around the platform don't stop ❤

Did you make the harness only or you also installed the radio on an aircraft? Best regards
