Almost 80 years of age 🤯 Pure, clean, articulate, not overdone, not overacted, and most of all, tempo on point! Masterclass at such an age. The woman is an absolute goddess mmm. So much firepower…BUT the brain and maturity not to unleash it all out and act like a circus monkey (as so many I won’t name seem to do nowadays in order to selling shows)
That reverberating sound goes together with the performance. The reverberation is conceptually due to the fact that the hall is empty because people could not be in there..., covid rules! She plays alone, we listen to her alone in our houses... That reverberating sound, which is like an organ playing, is an echo of our loneliness. Thank you Martha

I heard a recording of her playing the Chopin Polonaise in Ab major when I was a kid. POWERHOUSE! It inspired me to learn it as well. She’s a legend who has faced health crises and came through shining bright.

I have no idea how a 80 year pianist could play to generate touching sights with Partita No.2 (BWV826) in Lausitz Festival Oct. 13th 2020. Her soul travels around free and light, reaching a new fresh space, where she would have another chance to break into new fields. I confess I love this performance in the Festival much more than a live performance in Concertgebouw, April 1979(CD/7243 5 56975 2 3) and another performance (recording:Feb 1979,Berlin studio Lankwitza CD/289 463 604-2),although both of which are tremendously super.Thank you so much for bringing it up to ＹouTube.

She has face similarities with my mother who passed away around 4 yrs ago! When I see Martha, it reminds me of my mother! But the big difference is my mother could not play the piano! Today I do not know why but felt that at 79, she is suffering inside & at the same time playing piano with the same command & brilliance as before! I usually prefer Bach’s music to be played more slowly but here Martha’s tempo, although brilliantly fast her, her voicing is crystal clear and uplifting. Just what Bach had in mind when he was creating this stimulating partita we can only imagine. To me each melodic phase is technically explored, transposed and summarised as though reading passages in a book and then the page is turned and a new musical character is created with spirit, happiness and joy. And so the music progresses and character’s change. Martha brings out the spirit in Bach’s music, her remarkable agility is not diminished by age, on the contrary it is enriched. Thanks for sharing this unique experience. Loved it 🥰

Amazing I would never have dared hope to hear her solo In the last few decades there has never been a solo evening always only with orchestra, chamber music or at best in a duo And the admission is from 2020! Few can manage a 65-year career And she's aged, but those hands that could strangle a tiger haven't lost anything. The quick part of the Sinfonia shows it It's very difficult to play at all, and you can also recognize every voice with her, everything is transparent and intelligent. All the best for the future.

I have no idea how a 80 year pianist could play to generate touching sights with Partita No.2 (BWV826) in Lausitz Festival Oct. 13th 2020. Her soul travels around free and light, reaching a new fresh space, where she would have another chance to break into new fields. I confess I love this performance in the Festival much more than a live performance in Concertgebouw, April 1979(CD/7243 5 56975 2 3) and another performance (recording:Feb 1979,Berlin studio Lankwitza CD/289 463 604-2),although both of which are tremendously super.Thank you so much for bringing it up to ＹouTube.

She has face similarities with my mother who passed away around 4 yrs ago! When I see Martha, it reminds me of my mother! But the big difference is my mother could not play the piano! Today I do not know why but felt that at 79, she is suffering inside & at the same time playing piano with the same command & brilliance as before! I wish her good health & long long piano-performing years!

I usually prefer Bach’s music to be played more slowly but here Martha’s tempo, although brilliantly fast her, her voicing is crystal clear and uplifting. Just what Bach had in mind when he was creating this stimulating partita we can only imagine. To me each melodic phase is technically explored, transposed and summarised as though reading passages in a book and then the page is turned and a new musical character is created with spirit, happiness and joy. And so the music progresses and character’s change. Martha brings out the spirit in Bach’s music, her remarkable agility is not diminished by age, on the contrary it is enriched. Thanks for sharing this unique experience. Loved it 🥰

Your mind doesn’t comprehend yet all miracles the great Bach has to offer for a lifetime. Once you have gone that far like Martha Argerich, you think, feel and express that miracle. And then you sit there in awe for both this marvelous Lady and the great old JSB. Mi piace moltissimo
