absolutely never crocheted anything other than a single chain, but now I have my mind set on a bralette but I’m making my own w/o a pattern. this is gonna be fun...
Admittedly, I used this pattern for cat ears on a doll. Other triangle patterns just didn't look right on it, but this one does! So thanks for sharing! :)
The way you explain what you're doing is top notch! I actually get it now. Thank you so much for this video, it's got exactly what other tutorials lack. Keep it up!!!
Omg this was THE MOST easiest tutorial I could follow along!! I'm currently making a gift for a friend that involves triangles and I had trouble find a tutorial that was right for me since I'm a beginner and this was totally beginner friendly... At least for me it was. Thank you so much for this!
Thank you for this simple to follow tutorial! I'm using this tutorial to create ears on a Baby Yoda Christmas gift. I'm going to fold the bottom of the triangle and incorporate it on the head for his ears 😄 Your tutorial makes this possible. Thank you so much!
im making a little sun pillow and these triangles are going to be the sun rays !! this is by far the best triangle tutorial I've found. Thank you so much for posting it!
Have three different colors and make a cute scarf or possibly the beginning of a hat. have the points be at the crown of the hat, than work the cuff at the bottom. These are adorable thanks for the vid can’t wait for next one. ✌🏼
Thank you so much, for this video. I am well taught in sewing miniature clothing. However, I’d love to learn to crochet. I bought a ton of yarns from a thrift store, still need to buy needles. These triangles would come in extremely handy in doll clothing. I would place two together at the tips for a bikini top. And, use two to make a bikini bottom. I’m not there yet, but I can visualize it well.
Crochet each new triangle onto the old one (instead of chaining each time) and crochet along the side where you'd normally put tape and you don't have to sew (I hate sewing)
I can only crochet triangles. I gave up on crochet a coup years back and gave my hooks away and my yarn. Now I want to crochet triangles and sew together
If you wanted half of this same kind of triangle, you could start with half the number of stitches, and only decrease stitches along the one side. I hope this helps!
What do you mean by blocking with the triangles? I’m teaching myself to crochet and would like to know some of the projects you’ve used with triangles! I have 3 girls (13, 11, 4... my boy is 16). I’d like to make a blanket for my kids. My goal is to make them each one they can take with them when they leave the nest and many other special occasions! Your video was easy to understand! I look forward to trying this!!!
Hi! I have a video on blocking here: ua-cam.com/video/imZ6xIQs79k/v-deo.html Blocking is a way of relaxing the fabric, and getting it to its final look and feel. It can also help fix any curling and make the triangles lay flat. I hope this helps!
Hi! I have a question. I wanted to make a triangle that was longer (two of its sides longer), would I just reduce the number of stitches on every other row or however many rows to skip?
Thanks for this vid! Question- I'm wanting to crochet taller triangles of about 8" across the base to 10-12" up to top point. I'm not sure how to decrease when I need the "tallness" of triangle. Any suggestions? Hugs for all!
Hi. If you want a triangle that is taller, you'll need to work some plain single crochet rows in between the decrease rows. Maybe you could try working one plain row after every 2 or 3 decrease rows. I hope this helps!
So for every single crochet do I work it into the chain next to the one from which the yarn is coming out of? Or is that just for the first double crochet of the row?
Hi Amelia. On the first row, you'll want to skip the first 2 chain stitches and work your first single crochet in the 3rd chain from the hook. On the following rows, you'll chain 1 and turn the work... then, instead of working the first single crochet of the row into the same stitch that the chain is coming out of, you'll work the first single crochet into the following stitch. (This is because we are counting that chain 1 as the first single crochet, and working a single crochet into the same stitch the chain is coming from would be adding a stitch, which is not what we need to do at the beginning of the row.) Then, at the end of the row, we work a single crochet 2 together (sc2tog). The first part of the sc2tog is worked into the last single crochet of the row below, and the second part of the sc2tog is worked into the top of the turning chain from the row below. Does that help? Please let me know if you have any more questions. Thanks!
Using a thinner yarn and a smaller hook will automatically make the finished size of the triangle smaller. You can also make it smaller by starting with fewer stitches in the foundation chain. I hope this helps!
Hi! The method you use to block will depend on the yarn you are using. I have a video explaining blocking in detail here: ua-cam.com/video/imZ6xIQs79k/v-deo.html Hope this helps!
If you want to turn this triangle into a square, you'll probably need to experiment with it a bit. As you crochet around the triangle, you'll need to use smaller stitches around the wider part, and taller stitches around the narrower part of the triangle. I would suggest just trying it out, and experimenting with it to get the square shape you want. I hope this helps!

I got a question do you have to then skip 2 crochet chanies every time when you start to the end that how triangle because i am very confused.

@@YayForYarn Thank you!
You can make a kerchief
Exactly what I was looking for! I have a question, I want to make larger triangles, if I doubled everything up would that work?? Thanks!
Hi Katie! Yes, doubling the yarn would make the triangles larger. I hope this helps!
How would I make a smaller triangle using a dk (size 3 ) yarn?
Using a thinner yarn and a smaller hook will automatically make the finished size of the triangle smaller. You can also make it smaller by starting with fewer stitches in the foundation chain. I hope this helps!
mine came out as a triangle but one side is straight and the other side and all lopsided... I'm not sure what i did

How to make a long triangle so I can make a poncho
How do you block the triangle so it doesn't curl up
Hi! The method you use to block will depend on the yarn you are using. I have a video explaining blocking in detail here: ua-cam.com/video/imZ6xIQs79k/v-deo.html Hope this helps!
Please help me understand why mine came out a circle??
Hi! You are welcome to send a photo to me at blogger[at]yayforyarn.com. I will be happy to look it over and see what might have caused that. :)
Is there away to turn that into square? I'm wanting to make a Afghan with different shapes inside of a solid granny square.
@@YayForYarn yes thank you.
I would like to make this but not sure because I need it for throw blanket basically to crochet the Puerto rico flag any ideas?
Yes, you could use a triangle like this to crochet a Puerto Rico flag. You would just need to make it much larger. Hope this helps!
@@YayForYarn I has wondering how
There are several shops on Etsy that sell an inexpensive PDF Crochet Pattern for the Puerto Rico Flag. tidd.ly/b6ae1a4d Hope this helps!
