You can turn head and there are no issues. With some other helmets you turn your head at highway speed and the wind grabs the helmet and you feel like your neck is being snapped. If you are going to talk about helmets fit, finish, quality, features are all important but if you can't wear it because is act like an uncontrolled sail, then the helmet is useless (other than looking good on your shelf). Same goes for the vents if they funnel water like spigot. Functionality should be as important.

I wore nothing but Arai Corsair's this century. Last year I bought a HJC HPHA 11 Pro and it's the best helmet I ever had. It's like half the price of a Corsair, lighter, better ventilated, cutouts for eyewear is larger, bigger ear pockets, quieter and the quality is more refined with a badge on the front instead of a cheap sticker, the vent knobs are rubber coated aluminum, ect. And it comes with a tinted shield for even more money saved. And you can swap that shield in like 10 seconds. Swapping shields on the Arai is a PIA no matter how many times you've done it. And eventually you will break one of those stupid sideplates.
There's too many variables with noise and aero. Your height, your seating position, your bike's wind protection, and even how well your helmet fits can change how noisy and how well a helmet can cut through the air. Schuberth claims to be the quietest, but I've met people who used them and said it was the loudest helmet they ever used. The thing I found that helped the most with noise and aero was proper fit. Using a helmet that was the wrong shape for my head (My head is super round oval) caused the helmet to move up and down and introduced so much wind noise. I don't trust videos that harp on how quiet a helmet is, because their experience probably won't be the same as mine.
Hi, please also review gears according to weather conditions. For example, some don’t fit well if it’s 50 degrees Celsius. I think hot weather conditions are much difficult to adapt compared to cold, since there are a lot of upgrades for winter now such as heated grips or seats.
Ya, i have a silly question. I am wearing the Arai RX7X, size M. There is no stress point whatsoever at any point of my head. Feels snug and all good at all speed. However, my mouth is in direct contact with the chinguard, like literally kissing it. Any feedback on this one? For those who responded, i shall extend my appreciation beforehand.
I met a guy at motogp last year that had a nice Arai helmet and we got to talking about it. He showed me all the paint chips on the front and said he'd never buy an Arai again. Said he's only had the helmet a couple of months and tried getting Arai to swap it out for him but they wouldn't. The paint was so thin and bugs / rocks from normal riding just destroyed the cheap thin paint. Looks great sitting back about 10 ft but when you're holding it up close it just scratches so easily. I always think about that when I see Arai helmets now.
Definitely something to consider. I personally prefer testing standards and results to the paint holding up, but I do have a few helmets that I bought bc the graphic and paint were dope ha. So I can't lie, I get that
@@derekpells9341 it was all rock chip type of dots on the front. It was a special edition with a graphic so I don't know if the problem was just that model of helmet or what but the helmet was really nice before he pointed out the flaw to me. Cycle gear had a big tent at MotoGP so a bunch of people were checking out different helmets and gear. For the money an arai costs I'm on the fence of whether you're getting the quality to match it. I personally own a bell helmet and an AGV helmet. They have their own good and bad things about them.
As you are an American shop, I understand why you choose to leave out FIM, but from a safety point of view and as an international viewer, I think it's a shame. You guys have a lot of power, and should be using this space to push the helmet industry towards FIM. "Best FIM Helmet" should at least be a category.
FIM was a category last year and instead of just rinse/wash/repeat with the pics, we went with the top helmets we still see whenever someone is at the track or looking for safety etc. DOT and FIM combination helmets have been SERIOUSLY lacking though so we hope manufacturers start bringing those models over here more often. While it is a great standard, pricing and availability still need to be factored in. If the most protective helmets are so rare in the US and so costly, people won't buy them regardless.
@@patrickmchugh8039 ls2 makes one that is dot approved and has the fim certification for about $450, which makes it a pretty affordable helmet for what it offers
This. ECE/FIM if u care about your noggin. Cant be sure now but like year ago or two ECE was updated and it was ''better' than FIM. Its also wild for me how video from someone with such influence about helmets dosent start with safety standards and explains them (like how Snell is worthless for example)
So if I just choose to say MIPS as M-I-P-S jsut like PBECLC, did I then make it an abbreviation. Or if I just say PBECLC as a word however I want to pronounce it, does that make it an acronym? Is it dealer's choice or is there a judge and executioner for this?
I bought a C5 in January and couldn't agree more. I live in Scottsdale and have worn it extensively on local streets and highways and am very happy with it. I also bought the SC2 comms unit after using Cardo for the past 5 years.
Owning a MX9 mips adventure, I'd recommend the LS2 explorer as the best budget adventure lid. Better airflow, quieter and I suspect at least as good if not better than the bell in low speed crashes.... But it does depend upon if you sell them or not 😂😂😂
We sell and have plenty of in house riders using the Explorer. We find it pretty good too, but that MIPS system in the MX9 gives it the clear leg up for extra safety which is why we choose it here. And why we suspect it’s one of the best selling ADV helmets of the past ~5 years. 🤙The explorer is still a solid option too though!
Didn't have shoes or schuberth but my.rpha90s absolutely doesn't feel like premium lid, way overhyped and overpriced helmet. Feels and vents more like 200$ one at most
I can't disagree more with most of their choices. As an engineer (yes I do ride an SV) I like the more comprehensive and data drive helment reviews from Champaign Helments. They have a UA-cam channel if someone wants more details and honestly, probably better suggestions. Example the icon airflite is one of the worst helments in that price range. I have one and regret it fully.
Audio sounds like it was recorded in a tin can. Distance to the mic and echo in the room maybe? Usually I always see stuff like this recorded with lapel mics to avoid that.
I mean it's to protect the most important organ. Just bought a Corsair X, and love it. Some cheap helmets are certified for safety but absolutely garbage in every other area. It's your money, depends what you value. You just can't go wrong with the big three (Shoei, AGV, and Arai)
Pricey for me too, but when you realise cheaper helmets don’t offer good protection or even ventilation, but what price our own brains? Who needs brain damage? Just think, divide the cost of the helmet by the years you expect to use it. 100 bucks per year if it lasts 7 years, it cost you only 100 bucks per year.
Its strange how the ADV helms can get so expensive and offer next to nothing in way of features. Arai’s doesn’t even have a tinted inner drop down visor that i can get on $100 helmets lol. Theres definitely a limit to how well a helmet can save your noodle…after that your just paying for a brand name and features. Which is why its sad that the $700 helmets don’t even have useful features sometimes. The helmet companies just want to juice you for money. I’d say a $300 helmet is gonna be just as good as your $1,000 carbon fiber helmet.
Bit confused here, because 9/10 of the helmets in this video are available through every retailer in the United States. Unless a 5-second Google search is lying to me?

How did you cover all those helmets in less than 10 minutes? Good job, breaking it down with a price leader option. Almost time for a fresh one, I’ll look closer at the Bell and Sedici options in ADV and/or modular like the new Sedici one with built-in BT.
Haha the scripting read-throughs are very important for this project and getting the timing just right. If you want more info on the helmets they all have their own stand-alone videos for more details. Enjoy!
I’ve got the Sedici. I get a lot of wind noise, so much I can’t hear the speakers turned up to the highest. It fits fine, but I can’t hear anything from the speakers. I’ve got a Schuberth E1, and the peak won’t stay in place when I close the visor. It gets down in my line of vision. I’d like to try the Klim. That’ll probably be my next 🏍️🏍️🏍️🏍️😎😎😎😎
That Klim is awesome... price made me spit out my coffee (sorry about that hon; I did give you a towel). If I had a brain to protect, it would totally be worth it!
Icons don’t run small. They’re a long oval which is the most uncommon head shape. Being more narrow it’ll crush your temples making you bump up a size leaving you with room but at the end of the day a bad fitting helmet. Also get ready to lose your hearing they don’t block wind noise for crap
All full face helmets have their limitation by design with ventilation. However if you are open to different styles the BEST venting would be something with an open eye-port for sunglasses instead of a shield. Something like the Moto-3 from Bell etc. Definitely a certain style, but that huge eyeport is a giant inlet for Air at speed. Anything that removes the shield from the equation (also something like the Biltwell Gringo w/o the shield) is your best bet. No-shield = biggest vent port on the market.
That Icon Airflight is one LOUD helmet. The vent design is severely compromised in regards to wind noise. If a helmet passes ECE/Snell, personally it all comes back to wind noise. Something that's lacking in a lot of helmet comparisons.
I bought the C5 from a European seller and had to fill out Customs paperwork that FedEx emailed me to complete. That process delayed the delivery by a day and it took less than 20 minutes to complete. My helmet doesn't have the DOT marking nor does it have the ECE 22.06.
@Michael Skinner No, it was ChromeBurner. It was an easy transaction and had the C5 in my hands in just under a week. I usually buy here from in the States, but the amount I saved was worth it.
I have a love/HATE relationship with the Icon Airflite’s. Love the looks, but damn they are NOISY!!! Because of how they make the side panels to cover the pivot, the cover makes A LOT of noise
Agree, I have 4-5 graphics on my retired-graphic wall bc they look so nice. But I HAVE to wear my earplugs with that helmet (even though I always do), I'll turn around if I forgot them or head to CVS and grab more ha.
Gotta buy the Schuberth from Europe if one wants ECE, though. (Sacrificing DOT, but meh.) I do wish they'd add MIPS to it! (And to more high end brands.)
Just to keep it real for new riders that might be reading this: wearing an ECE helmet in the US is technically illegal in helmet-mandated states. DOT is the requirement in those states and the ECE version will not come w/ that sticker or certification.
Agree on the meh for DOT. I put a lot more trust in ECE & MIPS. I just took a left turn from my Shoei Neotec II to a Bell Qualifier DLX MIPS. But I will seriously consider Schuberth next time.
Hi guys! Great job as always, what about the Shoei Nxr 2? In which category would you place it? And how would it be compared to the Arai helmets you talked about?
Honestly nxr2 is probably the best sport/street helmet on the market in my opinion. The arai is really noisy but built quality is comparable with shoei. Go with what fits you the best
Hey guys! Good video in the overall, But I would love to ask. Why all the helmets are ECE 22-05 having $100 helmets with ECE 22-06, being the as safe as a safe as a $1000 FIM approved helmet.
We usually pick that helmet for the ADV category but after 10 years, we think Arai should give it an update. So we decided to highlight some other options. It's still a solid helmet, but its getting a bit dated w/ other tech out there.
Both solid helmets, I'd prefer the Airflite even though its much larger. Just keep in mind that both those helmets are a bit older and meet the 22.05 standard of ECE, not the new 22.06 that everybody is looking for lately. MIPS in both those helmets will be the same though, and the Airflite looks the best (IMO).
If have older versions of both helmets, the Airflight is a tighter fit but much quieter than the Bell but the Bell with the transitions lens was my go to until the airflight loostened up a bit recently and now im enjoying that more because it has so much less wind noise, both great helmets in different ways.

@@molarmassz Could be just you, helmet noise factors in your arm length, bike type, bike shape, windshield or not, torso length, seated position etc. More of the noise comes from the aero of the bike than it does from the helmet, which is why most brands don't make it a main feature or marketing tool. They can't predict your bike or body shape.
@@molarmassz Yeah, that will help. Personally, I ride so much that I just spend $5 on a box of ear plugs from the local pharmacy though. But I am prone to losing them.
Shoei NXR2 is a Europe-only model. The equivalent model in the US for us is the RF-1400 which was in our 2022 Gear Guide and in our opinion the new Arai just edged it out this year. Great lid nevertheless though.
dude, its a motogp 2021 champion helmet XDDDDD. Its like you CANT make it or buy anything safer than these guys use. no such product on the market. he used it on track and won kinda importand stuff XD, and also snell is terrible noone cares about it.
The Snell cert is useless at best, and potentially dangerous in real-world crashes. Rotational energy is far more important to address than multiple impacts to the same location.
Are you talking about the Scorpion? If so, something to keep in mind is that track day organizations and racing leagues don't thing SNELL is as big of a requirement as it used to be. ECE helmets, FIM helmets, and even some just DOT helmets are acceptable at the track. People might not agree with that, and I personally always look for more than just DOT but I don't think SNELL is the end-all-be-all.
FWIW - in that span of 5 years - a few brands have blatantly knocked off MIPS, ECE 22.06 added rotational requirements to their safety standard, FIM has added rotational to their safety requirements, and some of the best helmets each year have MIPS in them. Seems like they have taken off pretty well IMHO.
The only two brands that we carry that offer 4XL helmets are HJC and Bilt. Unfortunately, no other brands that we have access to go that high on the sizing scale.

I also have the HJC RPHA 11 Carbon and really really like it.
But I do think my Shoei NXR2 is even better.
I miss Anthony, used to watch him when I started motorcycling.
Watch, decide and ride))
Where’s any discussion of decibel level and aerodynamics? I want to know how quiet a helmet is and how well I can turn my head at speed.
I agree, noise etc. is subjective to each person...a helmet I think is quiet could be noisy to someone else. Same with aerodynamics.
Had Icon helmet. Cheap junk, but it did look good. I wouldn’t take one for free. Good review!
How long should I use my helmet? The standard seems to be 5 years.... but what if I've never experienced a crash? Thank you for the video!
Since i got my first arai, i just refuse to even use my other helmets 🤔 it is just quality, performance and superior comfort
So I can't lie, I get that
I’ve owned 3 arais and have never had any of these issues. Sounds like homie drops his helmet a lot.
Coming after an accident I can vouch for Arai ☺️
No Shoei ? Right up there with Arai......
It’s about $$$. Shoei didn’t pony up, so no review for them
That's what I said. I just got the new one. Love it.
RF-1400 all day baby
Can the Schuberth come in solid colours?
I like Scorpion R1 because lightweight plus I use on track and off track!
1:03 an acronym is an abbreviation pronounced as a word. PBECLC is not an acronym, it's just an abbreviation. MIPS is an acronym.
So if I just choose to say MIPS as M-I-P-S jsut like PBECLC, did I then make it an abbreviation. Or if I just say PBECLC as a word however I want to pronounce it, does that make it an acronym? Is it dealer's choice or is there a judge and executioner for this?
Good analysis. TY
I like the scorpion's pump to increase the snugness.
I think I will get dirt helmets as I love the large visor and mouth vent, even though I will never go off road.
Schuberth’s are very quiet and comfortable…..👌🏻
Great video!! Shocked to see no Shoei’s this year. Would love to see a category discussing retro-styled helmets too.
Same
@@kell7195 No Shoei as they may have specified a max sell price meaning no love from sales turnover business models. One reason I wear Shoei.
No Shoei, no Goei… my head shape limits choices
Probably beaten by Arai, they only choose one helm so it doesn't appear
I think HJC Rpha 91 also deserves to be on the list!
Shoei NXR2 over the Arai.
Scorpion Exo R1 air over the Icon.
Shoei Neotec 2 or HJC RPHA 91 over the Shuberth C5.
Didn't have shoes or schuberth but my.rpha90s absolutely doesn't feel like premium lid, way overhyped and overpriced helmet. Feels and vents more like 200$ one at most
Do you have any vids on what helmets work best for riders with glasses?
Spurge and Jen, F yeah.
Thank you guys!
The Arai helmets as always looking nice 👌

@@MikeJones-bz3fm oh ):
I can't disagree more with most of their choices. As an engineer (yes I do ride an SV) I like the more comprehensive and data drive helment reviews from Champaign Helments. They have a UA-cam channel if someone wants more details and honestly, probably better suggestions.
Example the icon airflite is one of the worst helments in that price range. I have one and regret it fully.
I’ve been riding HDs my whole life but would seriously consider this GW dct. Next to HD it has the next biggest dealership distribution.
What is the best naked bike helmet?
Shoei Neotec 2 is still much better than Schuberth C5. Especially with the new Sena SRL MESH. Check out the test performed by Champion Helmets

Well you are going to really enjoy the next couple of weeks.
Audio sounds like it was recorded in a tin can. Distance to the mic and echo in the room maybe? Usually I always see stuff like this recorded with lapel mics to avoid that.
Scorpio air pads, any chance they will explode in an accident?
No instances of that here or with their racing helmets in the nearly decade they've been available, so it does not seem to be an issue.
All these helmets starting at $750+ is absolutely insane to me. I might, MIGHT, pay $500 but $750 is absolutely bonkers.
I mean it's to protect the most important organ. Just bought a Corsair X, and love it.
Some cheap helmets are certified for safety but absolutely garbage in every other area. It's your money, depends what you value. You just can't go wrong with the big three (Shoei, AGV, and Arai)
Of all the things to spend money on a high quality helmet is #1. Going cheap on a helmet is ridiculous if you have ever been in a serious accident.
I have to wonder how much of this is the best helmet or the best helmet our competitors don't carry online.
Bit confused here, because 9/10 of the helmets in this video are available through every retailer in the United States. Unless a 5-second Google search is lying to me?
I found some hemelts arround 170's€
Scorpion Exo-520 Evo Preto
Nolan n80-8 (the ONLY one with EE06)
Nexx SX.100R Fullblack
D-SKWAL 2 BLANK (a little bit cheaper, 150€)
What do you think its the best? They all include pinlock and i need one really good ventilation
Thanks.
We've shot individual helmet reviews on most of those models that you can check out to hear our opinion on them! Check out our UA-cam channel or search the model name + RevZilla to locate them. If you have further questions, feel free to reach out to our Customer Service team.
Arai # 1
Is the hjc rpha 11 pro a good helmet? They have an awesome version I have to have.
That Klim is awesome... price made me spit out my coffee (sorry about that hon; I did give you a towel). If I had a brain to protect, it would totally be worth it!
Its also crazy for that amount of money you still don’t get drop down sun visor…. Worthless helmet 🤦♂️
That price made me do a double take. Luckily it was not a spit take.
Icons don’t run small. They’re a long oval which is the most uncommon head shape. Being more narrow it’ll crush your temples making you bump up a size leaving you with room but at the end of the day a bad fitting helmet. Also get ready to lose your hearing they don’t block wind noise for crap
Cannot say enough good about my Exo-R1
What’s the absolute Best venting full face helmet? Ride a bagger in upright position looking for strictly best venting only? Thank you 🙏
All full face helmets have their limitation by design with ventilation.
Something that's lacking in a lot of helmet comparisons.
good stuff, wish you included weight with all of them
Every single helmet has a breakdown video where we go into the all the details like weight, but this format can't include everything unfortunately.
The Schuberth C5 is ECE 22.06 certified, but the video only says it's DOT certified
That's because in the US the Schuberth C5 is DOT only and doesn't share the same shell as the ECE 22.06 Euro model.
I bought the C5 from a European seller and had to fill out Customs paperwork that FedEx emailed me to complete. That process delayed the delivery by a day and it took less than 20 minutes to complete. My helmet doesn't have the DOT marking nor does it have the ECE 22.06.
@@CorgiDaddyJust curious, would that have been Champion Helmets?
@Michael Skinner No, it was ChromeBurner. It was an easy transaction and had the C5 in my hands in just under a week. I usually buy here from in the States, but the amount I saved was worth it.
@@CorgiDaddy Nice to know. Yeah, the prices that Champion has for this helmet and many others is considerably less than US prices.
How tall is the box where Jen's standing on?
I have a love/HATE relationship with the Icon Airflite’s. Love the looks, but damn they are NOISY!!! Because of how they make the side panels to cover the pivot, the cover makes A LOT of noise
Agree, I have 4-5 graphics on my retired-graphic wall bc they look so nice. But I HAVE to wear my earplugs with that helmet (even though I always do), I'll turn around if I forgot them or head to CVS and grab more ha.
Got an Icon Airflite for 3 years now but can't wait to change it..... so noisy and difficult to mount camera+mic
great video but down with Dupont
The ARAI is nice, but I will stick with Shoei because of the transitions visor.
Yeah, I’ve been wanting the AGV K6, but transitions lenses are indispensable for commuters
What’s the price on that first one??????
Gotta buy the Schuberth from Europe if one wants ECE, though. (Sacrificing DOT, but meh.)
I do wish they'd add MIPS to it!
DOT standard is about as useless as the beanie helmets they get put on. lol
Love to see the R1 air which is the same exact one i have in white😮💨
Where Shark?? I have a Shark Evo Gt2 modular helmet. Isn't shark good??
Hey guys! Good video in the overall, But I would love to ask. Why all the helmets are ECE 22-05 having $100 helmets with ECE 22-06, being the as safe as a safe as a $1000 FIM approved helmet.
Looks like the arai tx3/xd4 crown has been taken by the krios pro
And not the Arai Tour-X 4 for ADV???
It still is considered one of the best, probably being the Klim the main competitor.
We usually pick that helmet for the ADV category but after 10 years, we think Arai should give it an update. So we decided to highlight some other options. It's still a solid helmet, but its getting a bit dated w/ other tech out there.
why there are no hybrid helmets? which has removable chin part..
After hs/ls I’ve been looking for a full face helmet with mips and ece rating. Icon airflite vs Bell qualifier dlx mips?
@@kell7195 I just got the current Qualifier DLX MIPS, but can't comment on much as the weather is still too cold here to ride. I'm between M & L size, went with L and it's still a bit tight.
@@charlienyc1 I ended up buying the Bell, ordered a L and it’s also tight but at the same time it’s brand new, my old helmet was at its time so it slipped on easy, I’ll give this one time to compress the foam a little, other than that it seems comfortable and I like the features
@@nitrofish8908 Good to hear it should be better after break-in. I guess I'll wear it in the house for a while. My small kid finds helmets amusing, so there's that 😆
Thank you for the info; which vents better, the Contour or the Corsair?
Both vent about the same, but the Corsair will edge it out. Either way, opening the vents on the shield is always a bonus for those two Arais.
@@patrickmchugh8039 Thank you Patrick, looking to replace my AGV Corsa R.
Whats the quitest helmet
The quietest helmet is usually the one you wear with earplugs inside.
@@RevZilla isit just me or when I wear my rpha 70 with 3m neon yellow earplugs, I still find it loud when I go fast?
@@molarmassz Could be just you, helmet noise factors in your arm length, bike type, bike shape, windshield or not, torso length, seated position etc. More of the noise comes from the aero of the bike than it does from the helmet, which is why most brands don't make it a main feature or marketing tool. They can't predict your bike or body shape.
@@patrickmchugh8039 hmmm that's a bummer I wish for quieter rides 😂. Would noise cancelling earpiece be good?
@@molarmassz Yeah, that will help. Personally, I ride so much that I just spend $5 on a box of ear plugs from the local pharmacy though. But I am prone to losing them.
Wow! Budget is $230!😮 I never pay more the $40 for my motorcycle helmets!😊
Guys help me decide. Should I go for Arai contour white or bright yellow helmet. I like both colours but confused which one to get.
Personal choice, white is my go to though.
No retro/ vintage looking helmets?
How come Shoei NXR2 didn't make the list? Its the best helmet in my opinion. Its very lightweight and offers super protection.
Shoei NXR2 is a Europe-only model. The equivalent model in the US for us is the RF-1400 which was in our 2022 Gear Guide and in our opinion the new Arai just edged it out this year. Great lid nevertheless though.
No Shoei?
I'm surprised either not to see Shoei
would appreciate if you could make best retro helmets listing as well.
Why'd you suggest the EXO-R1 for track use if it doesn't have a Snell cert?
dude, its a motogp 2021 champion helmet XDDDDD.
How can you consider the Shark as a racing/track/sport helmet when it does not meet Snell 2020? This seems like a glaring omission and an oversight.
People have been saying mips is going to take off for at least 5 years now.
There are 2 types of helmets: Arai and others
I'm looking for a top quality quiet modular helmet in size 4x 67-68cm and not an HJC.
The only two brands that we carry that offer 4XL helmets are HJC and Bilt. Unfortunately, no other brands that we have access to go that high on the sizing scale.
We get ECE 2206 helmets for 70$ here in India
Shoei RF1400 all day every day for egg shaped heads. Medium oval.
