Bruce is one of the greatest song writers of our generation in addition to being an exceptional musician and guitarist.

Bruce reminds me of Anthony Bourdain.... clearly skilled, articulate, unafraid of their own opinions, with a messy history which they own. Excellent interview.

The straight-on interview with Monsieur Cockburn, whose first ten-or-twenty, more or less acoustic -- and well, less-political in a sense -- albums continue to be among my all-time faves. Most inspiring.
Sense of mysticism. Ontario Place 1991 or so, rotating stage w/ Hugh Marsh, ending a concert with "Lord of the the Starfields.." C'mon, it doesn't get much better than this.. Unless a bum-day, and even then..
Cockburn's last ten (rock-pop/?) albums or so can't comment because I've been away in the Orient and haven't had access. But to reconnect from the other side of the globe by I'net, to hear of his ebbs and flows, his frank stories from more than 40+ years since I first knew of him -- has been yet another acknowledgement of how we all are human, making best of life we live, and how we and all are connected.
    Most grateful,

I try to avoid these discussions mainly as a function of time,my time, but I can't let this go. Saying that Mr. Cockburn is Canada's answer to Bob Dylan is like saying Montreal is Canada's answer to Toronto. The comparison is quite simply absurd. There is chalk, and there is cheese, try drawing a line on a blackboard with a piece of ripe Mozzarella, then grate some chalk on your pizza,Dylan and Cockburn would still be light years apart and I believe they would both agree.

Pinned down, pigeon holed.... Elusive seems more appropriate but the key is to not be reactionary and finding yourself not writing about what you love? Self editing and self censorship is a curious tightrope to walk. Cool talk. Good for you Bruce.
