In a current world where musicians, singers and songwriters are interchangeable and pieced together through a computer, it's easy to forget how singular this woman (and the music she made, whether with Dave Stewart or on her own) was groundbreaking - and remains so decades later. Visually, musically, vocally, she created her own mold, broke it with each new album, and rebuilt it again. Eurythmics were as unpredictable as it could get in the 80s, and once they weren't anymore, they went their own ways. The consistency of their albums remains unrivalled.
I was 10 when sweet dreams was out and being played on the radio. I was a foster kid and I heard the dark in this song. Eurithmics, and Annie specifically gave my dreams more crediblility. Love to see this interview today and hear that she felt so conscientious about the work.
Eurythmics & Annie Lennox herself bring joy to my life. Will never forget when I saw her live here in Edmonton with Sting, that she noticed we had a statue of Robbie Burns near the Hotel Macdonald. So proud of Annie, that she devoted her life to a cause she truly believes in, feminism, which has helped countless girls & women worldwide. A true Saint
"Who's that girl?" So nice to see Annie having such energy. Eurythmics was the very first CD I bought. Looking at it now with such great songs on it. She mentions how she performed for the audience, but she performed for us as an individual, so when people meet her, they know her as a friend as she has sung to them, but to her, they are strangers as a person, but hopefully not as a fan.
Oh what I would give to hear this wonderful woman sing live. The Eurythmics provided the soundtrack to my youth and I fell in love to her early solo work (love song for a vampire having a special place in my heart).
I have only heard her do a few songs on the piano, not a proper show. It was when she had the exhibit at the Victoria and Albert museum in London. And yes, Love Song For A Vampire was my in to her solo work too.
I loved this interview. No larger than life personality from Annie, just an extremely interesting and talented woman who had me hanging on every word.💖
Everything she talks about in this podcast you feel it through her vocals like so many others you take your pain and turn it in to art to let you know that you are not alone
I saw Eurythmics twice. The first time was in 1984 at the Beverly Theater in Los Angeles. I went alone because I was the only one I knew that was totally into their first two major releases. Even before the curtains parted, they were taking control of their audience with sight and sound, and when the curtains parted, the band was jamming away at full force. After a few minutes of this, Ms. Lennox came dancing out in her Scottish plaid pantsuit, and proceeded to completely dominate the consciousness of the audience for the next two hours. It was a mesmerizing, spellbinding performance. One of the best shows I’ve ever seen. I have never forgotten that tremendous performance and my appreciation for Ms. Lennox and Dave Stewart.
This is like the chat i always wanted to have with Annie, but with me it would dinner with some other guests ! Her songs have been important to me for most of my life. The albums Sweet dreams and Touch showed me there was more possible with music or even just sounds to touch the heart? The album that really touched my heart was Songs Of Mass Destruction. Do i need to say i love this woman !!!
*Thank you!* Hard to convey to those who weren't around then what the world was like before Eurythmics and all the ground-breaking that she has done over the course of her life and career -- no woman came from (and has made sound from) the place/s in her soul & body that she has -- *so grateful* for her music!
Her music and voice have changed my life. Her debut solo album Diva is my favorite album of all time. It's perfect from beginning to end and helped define my childhood and adult taste and sensibility. I'm so thankful for her.
Been a huge fan of Annie and Dave since The Tourists charted in '79. (I was born 5 days after Annie). Bought Eurythmics' 1st album In The Garden. Huge fan of her/their work. That sexy, striking face of Annie's and its expressiveness was absolutely made for the pop video age. And to have that gorgeous voice, songwriting talent and performing charisma as well, she has the total popstar package. And such a beautiful, thinking, un-popstar-y person under it all. Love the breakthrough Sweet Dreams but I rate Love Is A Stranger as their best early single.
I remember I first Annie Lennox with the Eurythmics on MTV back when they had videos😄. I thought who is this?! I've loved her voice ever since. Her songs especially from Albums like Diva really resonate with me. Songs like Precious and Little Bird still give me chills when I hear them. Thank you for the interview with a very talented artist.💖🙂
Such a clever lady. Thank you for your input into the music industry. I had the Diva album given to me (vhs) for my fortieth birthday. Those songs have carried well, the videos are brilliant. Thank you
I never was a fan of Annie Lennox's music and still to the day not my piece of cake. Nevertheless, Annie, as a person is really engaging and hypnotising. I love listening to her. She has something up there, haha (Sorry Annie), but it's great to hear a woman with a perspective bringing her deep thoughts out. Annie Lennox is a very interesting person! Perhaps I should listen back to her music ;-)

She is humble and down to earth , nice person, not arrogant like other rockstars.
Annie Lennox is great
An absolutely wonderful interview. ❤ Thank You.
One of the best shows I ever went to - Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart at Sydney Entertainment Centre. It was a spellbinding performance.
First class interview. Love Annie. I appreciate the way in which the camera was focused on the interviewee and not the interviewer.

A musical match made in heaven Annie & Dave, such fantastic vocals & tunes. I don’t think they made a track I didn’t enjoy.
