I haven't seen anything else out there. This Video will cover the intake side of things. Mostly Attempting to TIG weld the BOV vband connector using a DC Inverter TIG welder. And maybe some LOW HEAT Aluminum Welding Rod. Stay tuned to the end for a car surprise!

      Thanks!! That's the goal! Luckily it's a low benchmark.. The quickest 914 that we can tell was this car by the previous owner at (EDIT) 11.289 when he had a much hotter can in it. Soooo we just have to get back to and surpass those numbers. Goal is 10s.

    Love the old fashioned sanding to fit technique. Creative, and the perfect solution for a perfect fit. Have you thought about trying an oxyacetylene torch for your aluminum welds? This is normally the tool used to learn with before one transitions to tig as you can more easily control the temperature by moving the flame in and out. There are some small units which can be had cheap, especially when you locate a sale. Although not as pretty, a spool gun may be another option.

      Hey John! Actually I was going to try the Mig spool gun next. I do have one. I picked up some aluminum sheet today to make a cover for the Turbo area. I do have to pick up another tank of Argon. I burned it up with Tig Practice. I'm sure I'll have to do some more practice with the Spool gun, but at least it won't have to be airtight.

      @@budgetoutlaws9978 I look forward to see how this works for you. Your welds will look a bit different, but it's easier to master than TIG welding, which takes a lot if practice.

    I love the videos, 1.8T 914 guy myself. You should really do yourself a favour and pick up a Primeweld 225x($700ish) it's a great budget welder that can beat most Millers and Lincolns that cost twice as much. I was looking a Lotos 3 in 1 myself but I didn't see any glowing reviews and went with the Primeweld because it can weld aluminium/stainless beautifully, and I'd rather have something that can do one job great than 3 mediocre jobs.

      Great advice!!! The ESAB rebel was reccomend to us. Andrew here and I might try that one as I have limited garage space compare to Dan. But it's a heck of a cost... But a cost that I've been putting off for 10 years....

    New wheels! The "Turbo" emblem is way too fitting. I still don't think that low heat aluminum weld will hold, but hey... As you said "Budget Outlaws" :)

      I'm going to try the Mig Spool Gun. I did it once before but it too was difficult. But I think it would be solid. I tore apart my practice welds much too easily. I'm hoping my final 'weld' was ok. I'd be happy with with something working. It's starting to look like I should pay the $150 to weld once small piece... Ugg

    What website do you use to the the world records for every car?

    • @budgetoutlaws9978
      @budgetoutlaws9978  3 роки тому

      Honestly, it's really hard to find the fastest times for a given vehicle. I've looked all over and find very little. UA-cam usually has someone talking about their record. Dragtimes has stock cars. www.nhra.com/stats/14-mile-records-competition-eliminator has class records. I'm going to say that checking an online forum for your car make is the best option. Usually someone has heard of someone running a fast time. I've thrown it out there a few times to find someone with a time to beat for the 914. So far, nothing other than a previous owner of my car with an 11.289 at 131.42mph which is really good and probably cost him a gearbox.
