THIS. GAME. ALWAYS. ROCKS. Always causes laughs, always causes clenched fists, always begs a second play, always better than the last time it was played. Great stuff.
You guys misplayed the last place point loss. You only lose a point (or points) to reset down to 9 if you had 10 or more during the round and went out last. Otherwise if you have 1 point (or less than 10 during the round) and you come in last you don’t lose the point. The point penalty is only for a person who is about to win and comes out last during the round. So Lincoln should not have lost his 1 point after the first round when he came last. Great game!
20:00 If you have trouble reading the upgrades just put them on the table (behind your screen of course) or put a piece of paper behind it so it's not transparent which makes them easier to read pre-sleeved.
the game already exists... its basically the old card game President ( otherwise known as Sh!thead and many other things)...this is just the main mechanic with a few knobs on ...President 2.0 in essence
Even though I love game night and all the gang. Honestly I don’t feel like they did the game justice. They misplayed some of the rules and a couple of the complaints about the game are not anything that would make it unplayable or remove from the fun. And they did misplay a rule that made the game go longer than they should have.
Johnwatsis To be fair, everybody but Dave seemed to love it. It really seemed like he was upset about being skipped a lot this game, though he looked to be having a lot of fun during the game despite his end game discussion. I agree with Nikki and Mike. And Lincoln liked it even if he could see some of Dave’s points. Looks great to me!
Been waiting for a playthrough of this game. It's a lowkey favorite of mine (it's like a super crazy fun Uno). BTW the "change numerical order of pile," we play with the attached number being equal to or lower than the previous number, instead of higher. Logically, if you play the card with it's power shouldn't it already affect the pile; meaning the number should already be lower than the current.
No, because the power is triggered by playing the card. So before the effect happens the regular rules of the game have to be followed (which is a card equal or higher has to be played). So first you play the card with the effect, THEN you pay the cost of it’s power (to reverse the pile) and the power triggers changing the rule. The effect doesn’t happen the moment the card is played. The order of process is that the card is played, then cost is paid and the power triggers. So before the cost is paid the card played needs to follow the standard rule of the game. After the card is on top of the pile and the cost has been paid then it reverses the pile.
When explaining the game at the beginning, Dave says that since you can not use the kadora power when playing the card, you do not get a power point if you don't use. At 1:02:10, he says that you do. Which is correct?
If you play a card that has a power token symbol on it (even if the power token symbol cost on the card is zero) if you do not play the card for its power (meaning you don’t pay the power token cost) you always gain 1 power token.
[21:53] "Yeah a chocolate mess" lol... whoa, that's really dating me that I remember that old commercial. ;) And while Dave looks like he has a few years there, I would not have thought he was old enough to have seen it. :D For those who want to see the commercial: ua-cam.com/video/Lo_vyTNhHXY/v-deo.html
It really is a more complex version of a standard card game named something like "scum", "asshole" or "President". Actually im french canadian and we say "Trou d'cul" which means asshole
I don’t know what you mean but the rule is that if your card is on top of the pile and it gets back to you while the last card that was played on top was yours you win the pile. They misplay it slightly because save tell Nicky that “if you pass you’ll win the pile”. Nicky did not need to pass to win the pile, since she played the last card on top of the pile and it got back to her turn while that card was still on top she automatically won the pile.
This looks like a ladder-climbing game that plays much slower than either Tichu or Abluxxen/Linko because of the pondering on whether you should upgrade a given card or not...

If this designer married someone, would they reply "I do, D. Clair"?
...sorry.
Lincoln's smile is PRICELESS
Cool, a video of a game I've already played for a change :)
i've never known Nikki to be so talkative. She must really like this game. :) It looks fun.

Just picked this up NIS for 4.99 at a Goodwill. It looks like Great Dalmuti on steroids. I’m pretty excited.
I still feel this is a mechanism in search of a game.
Works fine in Mystic Vale, and apparently in Edge of Darkness.

Works well for Mystic Vale, works incredibly well in Canvas.
Another great episode guys. I liked the look of this one, right until the post game chat. Thanks for the honesty.

I love Mike but I wish that he would win. That being said Dave has the most fun.
fun video!
When picking the starting player, I’m sure Dave had to be the first player. He must have worn a costume most recently. Isn’t he an Actor?
Is this the last episode of Season 5?

Yep. To me, this is "Asshole with Card Sleeves"
At 17:20, is that really how it works? I understand the 3 pass rule, but doesn't always the last person standing win it?

I love mystic vale - this game looks great!
Like the UNO of card crafting.
As good as Tichu?
Give £1 to charity everytime Dave says 'alright'....
