Great video with tips at the end. Curious to why you swapped out the Rig’d swing arm for the bumper? We’re seriously considering both exact solutions. Rig’d is less expensive and lighter so we were leaning that way, but maybe there’s something else we should be considering. We do take ours Offroad, but no hardcore rock crawling.

Thanks for watching & commenting! There were a number of reasons for the switch. First, our UltraSwing had a 2” hitch shaft. The Power Wagon has a 2.5” hitch receiver so we had to use a reducer. The result was that the anti-wobble device on the UltraSwing was good but not perfect, and there was some movement at the hitch. Second I really wanted a left side swing to work better with our awning on the right side of the camper. Third, the latch on the UltraSwing is at the pivot end of the swing which means when the truck hits rough terrain the weight of the tire has mechanical leverage against the latch. In my (non-expert) opinion this causes more wear on the latch, and movement at the bumpstop. In fact RIGd did replace one latch under warranty (the original failed). Additionally I wanted the additional carrying capacity on the 2nd swingout. I think the UltraSwing is a fine product, a swing bumper is a more robust solution but costs more and takes a lot more effort to install (as you might have seen, lol).

I order my bumper July 5th 2023. Picking it up today. Their lead times are a joke. It took me emailing them asking for updates every two months wondering where it was.

I really love my rear bumper. But an instruction manual would have been nice. The only problem I’m having is the latch system. I hate it! There has to be a better option. This past weekend was the first time I had to put the truck thru some mud, after opening the swing out, I could not latch it back. Yes it was my fault it was full of mud, but after cleaning it and blowing the latch out with compressed air it still will not lock in.

Thanks for commenting! I have not had problems with the latch, yet. I have wondered about the long term durability of that cable release button mechanism. Given your comment I am definitely going to keep that mechanism well lubricated! And yeah, the lack of documentation caused me make mistakes that cost me a lot of time on the install (cutting off the retained nuts in my case).

Thanks for the video. I ordered this bumper a month ago and can't wait to get it. Do you like it, how is it working out for you. Thank you for the license plate wiring connector info, I did not want to cut into the factory wiring.

They have changed the bumper design. The lock mechanism is totally different now, no push button cable setup. I Installed the one you have 2 days ago and one of the latches won't lock!

Nice truck. Does the spare tire block your rear view camera? I'm looking for a bumper to move my spare (37") outside as I just put a deposit on my ovrlnd camper.

Thanks for watching & commenting! Unfortunately the spare does block the camera (though not as much as the old RIGd tire swing). It’s on my list to relocate that in some way, though I have not decided how. It has been blocked on my truck for the last 4+ years so I am not missing the camera much. :)

So instructions suck from company how are you connecting bumper to truck- you don’t show or explain in your video

It bolts on to the chassis. 10 bolts in total, 4 either side, and then 2 on the top of the bumper in the center.
