This is one of the saddest Sabaton stories and an awesome song. Most tragic thing about Witold Pilecki is the fact that, after everything he went through for his country, he was arrested and sentenced to death for treason by the communist authority!
Such a powerful song and like you, I just can't imagine what he went through in the concentration camp and how he got out alive. Sabaton are so passionate about their wartime history and that passion comes through in the songs. Thank you for a great reaction. I'm so glad you like the guitar 😀 thank you for the mention. Get well soon. x
Yeah very powerful indeed. Yes it must have been a complete nightmare in there. Sabaton makes us feel stuff, and thats what its all about. Yeah the guitar is awesome, thanks Pauline! =) Have a great evening!
Historien är ju helt otrolig, frivillig i Auschwitz och lyckas fly dessutom! Den tunga musiken passar verkligen ihop med historien. Vilken tur att du fick nåt att spela på, riktigt tjusig😀 Tack för denna🙏🏻
Thank you for adding more feelings into already good stories, a cheer your gostbumps, and wet eyes. Best regards, Thure from Sweden (Boden Tommy's hometown)
song is about Witold Pileki In 1940 Pilecki volunteered [2]: 66 [3][4][5] to allow himself to be captured by the occupying Germans in order to infiltrate the Auschwitz concentration camp. At Auschwitz he organized a resistance movement that eventually included hundreds of inmates, and he secretly drew up reports detailing German atrocities at the camp, which were smuggled out to Home Army headquarters and shared with the Western Allies. After escaping from Auschwitz, Pilecki fought in the Warsaw Uprising of August-October 1944. Following its suppression, he was interned in a German prisoner-of-war camp. After the communist takeover of Poland he remained loyal to the London-based Polish government-in-exile. In 1945 he returned to Poland to report to the government-in-exile on the situation in Poland. Before returning, Pilecki wrote Witold's Report about his Auschwitz experiences, anticipating that he might be killed by Poland's new communist authorities. In 1947 he was arrested by the secret police on charges of working for "foreign imperialism" and, after being subjected to torture and a show trial, was executed in 1948. From the 1990s, following the fall of communism in Poland and Pilecki's subsequent rehabilitation, he has been a subject of popular discourse.[9] A number of institutions, monuments, and streets in Poland have been named after him.[14] In 1995 he was awarded the Order of Polonia Restituta, and in 2006 the highest Polish decoration, the Order of the White Eagle.[6] On 6 September 2013 the Minister of National Defence announced his promotion to colonel.
Great reaction...Witold Pilecki is a polish hero and I recommend watching The Sabaton History Channel. Thay Haven a video for each song so U can find out about every ewentualnie Thatcher Sabaton sing. One more time great reaction and I'm joining your channel
Cool heavy song 😎 with strong meaningful poignant lyrics 😢 I’ve visited it’s so very sad being there as it affects you deeply but it needs to be seen and the stories needed to be told 💜
Melodies, Arrangements, Orchestration. This one is especially massive sound-wisely and the text... so heavy topic. And masterfully set in scene. Light footnote: You're a big child, aren't you?
What a beautiful song and an incredible story. I agree that Sabaton are real masters. They seem to be more than just a band, playing music. Their songs have so much meaning. And about the song - people were tough 80 years ago, completely different generation. For us, it is incomprehensible. I can't imagine anyone doing something like that today. The Polish nation suffered so much during the war and there were many heroes in that country.
Witold Pileki also stayed true to the polish government in exile in London when the Soviets to over in Poland. He ended up in Russia in prison and was killed in 1948
If you want to know his story then Sabaton has his history channel where he talks about most of the stories behind the songs. But I am warning . Get ready for nightmare or horror stories. There is real darkness here and there is no happy ending here.
Thanks for another great reaction. This is not always my favorite style of music I still enjoy it. What I really like about their music (and I truly don’t know a lot of it but catching up) is that the lyrics have a meaning not just as you say there is so much 💩 out there with lyrics that are hateful, distasteful just not a plus to humanity in anyway. So it’s just great to hear. Do you or anyone here know why or ask tommy sometime when you see him again, why they write the songs on war history…. I am really quite curious what drives it. Thanks again
OMG...Reaction of the song about Witold Pilecki. Tack så mycket för det 😁😁😁😁😍😍😍😍💗💗💗💗 Out Polish Hero 💗💗💗💗 You should see the video. It's sooooo emotional. I'll send you the link on MSN. Pilecki was killed in 1948 by communists, they sentenced him to death for TREASON !!!!
Watched it. Really dark stuff. Hope it doesn't give me nightmares. But even if it should: I love Sabaton for making this vid so... uneasy, eerie and dark, for not making it easier for the watcher.
ABBAMAN..... You know my view on sabaton's lyrics I'm just not a history buff and especially where war is concerned I do though would like to hear different lyrics to one of their songs because the music is so good. Knowing history is a good thing but I don't find it very entertaining I don't think there's any other group that does this so they are unique in that way
Maybe an idea for Tommy to do a reverse Disneyton? To put Disney lyrics to Sabaton music, could be interesting. I love history angle in their songs, but not everyone feels that way
Hello Gene! I do, the music certainly is very good indeed! They are true professionals. They make us "feel" something, and thats what really good music is all about =) They are quite uniqe yeah =)

Det sorgliga är att många trodde på det han berättade efter han hade lyckats rymma.
Ja verkligen! Helt galet. Ja haha luftgitarren äger! :D Tack!
