This guy is going to go places. There are many amazing players out there with tons of chops and versatility but only few have the musicality, inventiveness, style, tone, touch and the compositional sense and Plini has 'em all. He reminds me a lot of Guthrie but he's got his own thing going on musically and that's a very rare thing these days. He's a composer indeed. Very refreshing.
I saw Plini play this live. The entire crowd was in awe of the beautiful light show and the melodic guitar solo in the intro that plays through for a bit. I looked to my left and to my right, all eyes glued to him and bodies stiff. I looked straight at him in the middle of the crowd, raised my hand and gave him the rock on symbol with my hand and waved it around. We locked eyes and he nodded at me. It was such a sick moment.
I've heard the some countless times for 8 years, but listening along while reading these was a lot of fun. I missed a lot of the connecting layers you pointed out.
Yeah I haven't even gotten to the point where I can come up with an original guitar piece and mix some MIDI drums over it. :( Hopefully I will be there soon though! (but not even on the level of this)
You don´t need drugs when you just can get this for free and it's absolutely healthy for your body and mind. You listen to this guy playing and it's like having a trip elsewhere.
I cannot express to you how much I adore your music. It takes me places man. I basically trip when I listen to your music. You are one of the most talented artists I have ever seen. Please keep going
I can't begin to tell y'all how many times I've listened to this song! When I first listened to this, this was such a nice song. Then I've listened it over and over until I knew it by heart. Then I started listening with good headphones, and started listening closely to all of the details, such as tone, drum mixing, orchestral sounds etc. Then I started to listen to this to get an upbeat energetic feeling. Then I had it as my alarm clock sound, and I never grew tired of it! And now I'm still returning to this so much! For the emotions packed in it, for dreaming about being able to play this one day with my guitar, and for trying to wrap my head around how even the parts are built up 😂. And of course for at least trying to play the "simple parts".
That uni bend to double harmonic whammy dive gets me everytime. Kinda like a futur sonic the hedgehog song. And the pinch harmonic two tone in the riff before the solo. So damn good
It's amazing the progress and evolution of your music style! This sounds pretty wild and powerfull, but the most recent songs/records sounds more refined, more stylish! #pliniRocks
I cannot even remember the last time I was so impressed by a piece of music. It's so powerful, kickass, and awesome, but also completely uplifting and really happy at the same time. This is literally - and I really do mean literally - one of the greatest songs I've ever heard
This is one of my all time favourite songs! And now I'm listening to it with good speakers, I hear the tiny things so much clearer and better! It's a joy to be able to listen to music like this! Thanks a lot, Plini!
HOLY CRAP it took me forever to finally figure it out! I was always struggling trying to figure out where I'd heard this song before, like it just seemed to familiar to me. I knew who it must have been so I flipped through my Dream Theater collection and it is (the first and last sections, at least) the same chords and progression as Solitary Shell (or at least the ending acoustic solo section) and that's why it also made me happy. It is such a happy, joyful, sunny day kind of sound that I love. Well done, Plini! It took me 1 and 1/2 years to figure it out but I figured it out! :) What a great song
I watched this around 5 years ago and immediately became a fan. I can't believe how far he's come as a composer. Really cool. The lack of Strandberg does feel wierd now though. 😂
You just gave me new hope for humanity Plini. I love your name too! Strangely... I only just discovered you yesterday, but in that time, I've felt something in my heart about your music that just compels me to grin the hardest grin my face muscles are capable of. Thank you for existing. Much love and mad respect ;)
Thanks for the inspiration! If I get stuck on a songs structure I listen to your stuff and it helps me to figure out where a song should go. Keep up the great work!!!
People all butthurt about no cable, but in reality, any actual guitar player would know that just by watching the frets, he's spot on the notes, and to think that would mean he would have to have composed this all note by note, solos and all. That's a very classical approach to composition you don't see anywhere really. I'd love to see what this dude could improv.
Robert Giovanni Also drugs, money, narcissism and how these things make you cool which is also a proponent of manipulation whether it's intentional or not, younger audiences are attracted to it and some even make their life based on these things. I've known first hand. I was that "gangster" kid in HS. They base the rest of their life off of shit they hear in these songs.
Love watching Plini play. Such great vibrato, careful phrasing, catchy melodies and tight playing. I see/hear influences of Petrucci and Vai although his music is really different than both of them.
To all of you asking about the cable: What does it matter? He can obviously play it live, and even if he couldn't, he can at least compose songs like this. I dare you all to compose something that's even remotely as beautiful as this one is! I guess he just went the no cable way, because it looked cleaner. (P.S.: I'm willing to listen to anyone who wants to share some of their songs :). Tell me if you want constructive criticism. I love y'all!) (P. S. 2 :I am completely utterly unable to find even one of those chords to make something good with, so I'm not saying I could do anything even remotely alike. Just trying to explain the cable thing and encourage y'all to make something cool :))
It's so weird NOT seeing Plini play a Strandberg now, it's almost like his signature thing ;p
ikr
I mean, not to be "that guy," but it is his signature guitar, built specifically to his liking. xD
@@aliatruman the comment is 3 years old dude
@@handlethehurdle It is weird to see tho. haha

nick johnston too.
You were correct
Agreed..his music is more ears friendly than most...new comers out there...
How right you were good sir
2019 May and see how correct you were.

0:04 - 0:17 Layer 1 Guitar lick (Section A)
0:17 - 0:32 Layer 2 Guitar riff + L1 (Section A)
0:32 - 0:45 Layer 2 repeated alone (Section A)
0:45 - 1:13 Section B
1:13 - 1:16 Pre Section C
1:16 - 1:38 Section C (guitar improv)
1:38 - 1:42 Pre Section D
1:42 - 1:52 Section D (Stacatto guitar licks)
1:52 - 2:06 Section D repeated: Stacatto guitar licks + Guitar interval line 1
2:06 - 2:20 Section E: Tremolo rhytm 1 + Guitar interval line 1 (interval line 1's purpose is: connects the sections.)
2:20 - 2:33 Section E: Chord rhytm 1 + Guitar interval line 1
2:33 - 2:47 Section A, just layer 1 (with new sound fx)
2:47 - 4:05 Layer 3 guitar improv (Section A) (L1+L2 as backing track) (Outro)
I've heard the some countless times for 8 years, but listening along while reading these was a lot of fun. I missed a lot of the connecting layers you pointed out.
Now do this for Glass Bead Game
Anytime I write a really cool song and think I'm a good composer, I come back to this and am just like "nah".
I'm so relieved to hear that . thanks god i'm not alone
At least you write songs xD
Yeah I haven't even gotten to the point where I can come up with an original guitar piece and mix some MIDI drums over it. :( Hopefully I will be there soon though! (but not even on the level of this)
You are not the only one, my friend!! How humiliating!!! ;)
your are not the only dude ;)
His playing is so good he doesn’t need to plug his guitar in
Plini is really one of the most uniquely gifted songwriters I've ever heard. Incredible
True, although I've just listened to Jakub Zyltecki's 2020 live performance and I was truly blown away.
How many times did I listen to it? I don't know, each time each different feel. Thank you very much.
I don't know why but I get this rushing happiness senstion everytime that pinch harmonic at 2:57 plays. Amazing work, Plini!
In-room sound of string strokes is adding an interesting kind of atmosphere to this video.
You don´t need drugs when you just can get this for free and it's absolutely healthy for your body and mind. You listen to this guy playing and it's like having a trip elsewhere.
Thanks to this song, I now know what 'tears of joy' feels like! Just went ahead and bought it. Plini you rock my world!
ya 9 años y no deja de sorprender como la primera vez y el renombre de plini entre los mejores guitarristas de prog actuales.
I cannot express to you how much I adore your music. It takes me places man. I basically trip when I listen to your music. You are one of the most talented artists I have ever seen. Please keep going

cody thompson Hey, I knew like 5 of those words!
Must not be a seasoned guitarist then. He got it and thats what matters
+cody thompson I've been playing ten years and didn't understand a word.
I'm a drummer with no formal training. So its understandable I knew nothing of what you said
+cody thompson Right? The most beautiful two notes I think I've heard in long time.
It's amazing the progress and evolution of your music style! This sounds pretty wild and powerfull, but the most recent songs/records sounds more refined, more stylish! #pliniRocks

In a world where instrumental guitarists are a dime a dozen, this is something special.
This is one of my all time favourite songs! And now I'm listening to it with good speakers, I hear the tiny things so much clearer and better! It's a joy to be able to listen to music like this! Thanks a lot, Plini!
Those clothes look comfy as hell.
the last 15 seconds is awesome

MUITO BOM PLINI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Saudações de Portugal.
i connect with your music in a way that is quite literally impossible to put into words. thank you so much.
I watched this around 5 years ago and immediately became a fan. I can't believe how far he's come as a composer. Really cool. The lack of Strandberg does feel wierd now though. 😂
I listen to this song since march 2014 and I still love it. Kisses from Belgium.
Written, recorded & mixed like a boss..
The best he’s done period!
that melodi - it's so satisfying holy **** with the synths in the background.... amazing
Pure Love again "mon frère" !!
everything about this dude is amazing. i worship thee.
0:28 is just rude out of this World! Atlas is just such an amazing composition, and I absolutely LOVE your work Plini! Keep it coming!
I wanna see Peeni play this at UK TECH-FEST, FUCK IT JUST PLAY ALL THE THINGS!
sounds like a plan to me!
***** More Steve Morse on this one. Look up User Friendly on Coast to Coast 1992. Enjoy. But a host of other styles are used to solo over it.
Plini Im going to techfest with you as one of my must see artists! Pls play this with your guitar flat :p
What if he plays Other Things? ;)
it's like frank zappa and dream theater on steroids - love it!!
I explain Plini as: Steve Vai and Mozart had a baby, and the baby was was nanny'd by Chick Corea... and Chick always had Djent playing the background.
Astonishing guitar playing.
in love with them pinch harmonics
what he does at 1:04 ..... it's pretty clear this guy is an alien living among us
knew your name through sithu aye's work. but i have yet to check you out til now. REALLY nice work man. very impressive
So glad that this was the first thing I found on here after a long day's work.
Very much reminds me of Scale the Summit. Especially on Carving Desert Canyons album.
Awesome! Incredible guitarist!!!!!!!!!!
I'm assuming the 2 dislikes were mistakes......fix that please. Plini and Sithu Aye, never never never stop making music. Thanks!!
Genius ! Beautiful phrasing! And awesome Time signatures!
You just gave me new hope for humanity Plini. I love your name too! Strangely... I only just discovered you yesterday, but in that time, I've felt something in my heart about your music that just compels me to grin the hardest grin my face muscles are capable of. Thank you for existing. Much love and mad respect ;)
simple, straightforward, smooth, technical melodies… I LOVE THIS FVCKING SONG!!!
Was incredible experiencing this one live in Birmingham!
i agree!!! such good vibes from plini/intervals
Thanks for the inspiration! If I get stuck on a songs structure I listen to your stuff and it helps me to figure out where a song should go. Keep up the great work!!!
Super graceful vibrato.

Just when i think i have the craziest melodies in my head
You have THEE BEST vibrato technique out there my friend. So smooth, even and consistent. Love watching (and hearing) you play dude.
3:42 Man just be chillin with an unplugged guitar on his lap.
Huge Vai/Petrucci vibes on this! Killer!
Your music is an inspiration. Thank you sir.
Saw this live a couple weeks ago in STL! AMAZING!!!

0:28 Those little details that make you shiver
YOu are one of the best musicians in history !!!!
This brings me in another dimension
Thanks for backgrounding my life with your incredible music. You are awesome
Why does this not have 1,000,000,000 views??? o.O
Because way too many people do not appreciate good music.
And it is sad.
This is a pretty fuckn sweet song..agreed!
it will when im done hahahaa
Tina Carnicello I'm working on it too!
This guitar is gorgeous. It's like a beautiful violin.
I love the circular vibrato.
Beautiful music.Thanks for sharing!.
Beautiful, so melodic.
I hope you guys get to add this in Spotify soon.
Watch this pure masterpiece everyday to overcome my madness.
So weird this is 7+ yrs old now lol. I remember when it came out everyone I showed it to was like wooooah what is that.
powerfull freaking intro , loved the riff , and so as the pinch harmonic , right where was expected n loved the idea of it , nailed it dude
How does this only have 197k views? This is phenomenal.
Few more now but still not enough
So awesome.
Tocas genial la gurtarra!!!!!
Me encantas Plini!!!!
Dude, you guys are amazing. Truly, truly amazing.
my fav song in my life
The part at 2:20, though the most simple to play, is my favorite section in this composition.
かっこいい!!
Unquestionably amazing, as always! Brightened up my day of impending calculus final studying.
Fantastic!
Great Music!
Plini makes so good music he can make a music video with his guitar unplugged without having any trolls pointing it out in the comment section
those pinch harmonics are insaaaaaaaaaaaane
not going to lie this video made me want an ibanez lmao
This is the most Steve Vai sounded shit I've ever heard that wasn't written by Steve Vai.
You're seriously one of my favorite musicians ever. Your music is just perfect and amazing. Damn.
Love watching Plini play. Such great vibrato, careful phrasing, catchy melodies and tight playing. I see/hear influences of Petrucci and Vai although his music is really different than both of them.
not forget the guthrie govan influence

Damn I love this prog scene right now so much talent going around
TO all the youtubers playing cover songs, take note....
In these genres one of my Top20 songs🖤 I love it🖤
very good
THIS BECAME ELECTRIC SUNRISE!!!! My favourite song off of an AMAZING album
I can't tell you how hard 0:43 is to pick. Insanely good.
Wow. I like the creativity.
Super Amazing...Great Job!!!!!
so much talent!
So playful and effortless playing. Great stuff as always :)
This is the best thing i've ever heard
How have only just discovered you, man? Epic tune! Reminds me so much of Vai. Cheers from Scotland!
There's so much John Petrucci in the first minute
I heard Paul Gilbert :)
me too!
So funny, I hear Steve Vai all over this.
When looking around, I think it's some mix of fuzz universe and scarified in the intro. After that I can hear Vai, and at 1:42 Petrucci enters.
More of Paul Gilbert
i love you man so much.thanx for all this great music
The drums sound way better on this one! Whatever you did on this one is definitely my favourite!
