Thanks, you inspired me to do this. It was the toughest job I've ever done. Didn't have a lift. One trick that allowed us to access the top transmission mounting bolts was to remove the cross brace under the engine to allow it to drop by a couple of inches. That made all the difference. Had a helper, we took our time and it took FOUR days. Your video was very well done. Thanks again!

I'm all honesty. It is a big job but it is doable at home. The hardest part for me was the to Bell house bolt. I didn't have the right wobble head. I recommend using 1/4 or 3/8 sockets for that one as space is limited. Great video!

(17:37 minuets of getting ready to be there, and still not showing access to the rear main seal.) Be sure to look for the second part to see the seal change, U-tube algorism didn't show the second part when I viewed the 1st part. The Man doing the photography does a good job showing things to look for and remove. A rear main seal failure that causes oil stains on the driveway is going to happen when the engine has 100,000 to 2000,000 miles on it, If the Transmission hasn't been rebuilt in that time and you still value the truck, I would suggest that this job should include a transmission rebuild as well as the rear main seal replacement. Since removing the transmission is part of replacing the rear seal and the instruction is how to get to the point of replacing the seal, this information is valuable. By doing this work as well as having the 4l60E transmission upgraded you will save a ton of money.

I pretty sure I’m having issues with rear seal leaking on my 2009 Escalade hybrid 6.0 L, I’m starting to get small puddles of oil drippings in my garage, and lately when I change my oil the oil pan and the cross member is soaked in oil. I am a DIYer with some basic mechanical knowledge, and I Usually try to fix things on my own, like the fuel pump, injectors, plugs, wires, sensors, ecu, etc, I do have plenty of jack stands and heavy duty jacks, but unfortunately no vehicle lift....that being said is this job only possible using a lift? I don’t want to waste time on trying to fix something that is next to impossible...how much would I expect to pay a shop for a job like this, labor and parts included ? Can someone give me a rough estimate? ...I have watched several videos of the GM 6.0L having the rear main seal changed and it doesn’t look complicated just looks VERY labor intensive....I’ve also noticed since mine is the hybrid version, I DO NOT have several of the parts that get in the way such as starter, alternator, and maybe a couple other parts, However It does have a few hybrid components, but I’m not sure if they are in the way....and another question I have is, should I also have the oil pan seal replaced since it will be dropped? Just to be safe? Would that cost a lot more money or would it be easier since it’s already disassembled? Please anyone with any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Other than copious amounts of oil everywhere, how did you determine it was the rear main seal instead of valve cover gaskets, intake valley pan gasket, oil pressure sender etc.? Did you open the flexplate inspection cover? And if so what did you see? Many thanks!

Hey bro, you’re not replacing the rear main seal on a motor, you’re replacing it on an engine. By definition a motor is electrically powered and an engine creates its own power by means of combustion of fuel.

My uncle did it for me my mechanic said that it wasn't worth fixing because when the rear main seal breaks it will break again even though you replace it. I didn't replace with a whole kit like you did on your video which By the way was great. I only replaced the circle seal. I'm going to go at it again next weekend with a kit like you did but I wanted to ask your opinion if your rear main seal starts leaking is it fixable or will it always leak???
