Nevermore was one of the most criminally underrated bands of all time. They were so much better than 99% of the other bands that gained popularity. Every member is masterful at their instruments and Warrel is one of the greatest Metal singers EVER! To this day I still listen to them! RIP Warrel..........
Well said, and Warrel's lyrics are second to none, the first time i listened to Dreaming Neon Black and heard the background story i was soo shocked, one of my all time favorites.
For me this is the best metal band in a history ever!! Their super fantastic Dead Heart in a Dead World is the best metal album ever created!! Their music is mix of heavy progressive thrash groove experimental metal, and is not so easy listening by a lot of metal fans, because the most of them are foolish and don't listen a very good progressive music by this fantastic band!! Also Jeff Loomis is the best guitar player ever, and his riffs and solo guitar on the Dreaming Neon Black and on the DHIADW are just incredible amazing!!
Perfect music, perfect vocal, perfect video and I would say perfect location, though I was not there anyway... Shame, I won't have the chance to see them all together any more:(
"The Learning"(part 1) "Senteint 6"(part 2) - seriously, that's how they're played live, here. Also, "The Passenger", "In Memory" is amazing as well as "Matricide" and "The Psalm of Lydia."
the singer is a classically trained opera singer. all the dissonance in his vocals and of course his melodies and tone are unmatched I meant dissonance with the rest of the music it's incredibly genius it's too bad that Chris Broderick sold out. I have heard that Jeff Loomis actually plays guitar in Dethklok anybody know if this is true?
+dan novak Dethklok is pretty much compositions by Brendon Small, he composes and records everything, as far as i remember. Live theres other musicians, but no Loomis, unfortunately.
why is Nevermore so underrated? I've loved them since I could walk. my dad would play the old cds in the car and I remember singing Heart collector in my carseat
I think they were just too intense for a lot of people. Even a lot of metalheads prefer music that affirms them instead of challenging them. Nevermore were never easy listening.

Yeah. Im a 53 year old metal head and came across nevermore a few years back. What got me was the lyrics and his voice not to mention the music. Hits you deep inside
This is probably the most talented band out there. The most amazing singer, the most amazing guitarist, genius song writing... no band has talent like Nevermore
You are in my mind, i agree totally with you!! Their album Dead Heart in a Dead World is the best metal album ever created!! Lomis is a super fantastic guitar player, maybe the best in a metal music!!
Symphony X is another band of the same caliber. I was supposed to see SX and Nevermore play together in Worcester MA the night it was announced Nevermore had broken up 😢
Nevermore truly raised the bar of heavy metal in many ways. if i can bring only one album to heaven/hell ,it will be This Godless Endeavor. it has almost everything, almost everything i loved about music.
I first heard them over 10 years ago and never really got into them at the time so didn't bother to keep listening, then a couple of years ago I randomly decide to listen to some more and now they're one of my all time favourite bands O____O.. I then find out they split around the same time I got into them properly. Damn young stupid me :'(
I got to see them ONCE at a smallish venue in San Francisco. Warrel Dane pulled me onstage during I Am Voyager and I got to sing into the mic and everything, it was one of the most insane experiences of my life. Then a year or so later I had tickets to see them again in SF, but they split a few weeks before the show. It was heartbreaking.
deanml1986 this is exactly what I went through with this band. I heard Enemies of Reality when it first came out. I thought it was ok. A few years later, my friend got me to listen to them again. He showed me this song and This Godless Endeavour. A few months later, they broke up. I was also much younger and not ready for their genius.
Very sad news indeed, I got into them just before the Obsidian Conspiracy came out, then Nevermore announced tour dates and I had a ticket to go, then unfortunately they broke up and the shows were cancelled, now it seems there will be no chance of seeing either Nevermore or Sanctuary, I don't think you can replace a singer like that, it just wouldn't be the same. All we can do now is remember and celebrate the great music, we are very lucky to have that!

Warrel's singing style is probably partially influenced by his opera training. He's downplayed any opera influence in interviews but said he did get training from an opera coach because the techniques they teach let you utilize the full range of your voice without damaging it. Heavy metal singers often destroy their voices at a relatively young age but opera singers are still performing well when they're old. I think Warrel's unique style might be due in part to using those opera techniques.
Fuck me, this is one of the best live metal performances I have ever seen on UA-cam. So polished yet raw. Every musician is a master of their craft. The drummer is such a fuckin beast. Let's not even get started on Loomis. Can you boys bring it back with a new singer like what AIC did and ACDC etc please?
If I wrote the song, I would have had a quiet beep in the background, that beeped the lyrics in binary. Add to the whole sentient machine thing. But that's just me. Fucking beautiful song.

One of Nevermore's most difficult songs to perform, one of their saddest and one of their deepest. Difficult to understand as well, to me this is about a time when the machines uprise against humankind. But still the Sentient longs to be more than a machine, so is he good or evil? I think this is actually Nevermore's hardest song to sing. They don't have easy songs to sing by any means, but this one is a higher bar than most.
It could also easily be interpreted from an outsiders perspective. Knowing Warrel as an agnostic, it’s also a cry for help. “I wish that I could see the one who made me.” “Knowing I’ll never reach your heaven, it’s unattainable.” You could also interpret it as we are all machines, living out our days in this robotic fashion that never dream, and don’t know how to progress beyond our mechanical selves. There’s a lot of ways to interpret it, and that’s why it’s brilliant. Such deep music. That’s why I love Nevermore
Seems to be so many who says Dane doesnt fit, and I sort of get them, but then again, I can't picture anyone else in Nevermore. I hope they reunite one day!

@OfficialChokmah However, since it seems that the Sanctuary reunion is going well (just check the recent metal news) I highly doubt there will be any big news about Nevermore in the near future. I fear they'll freeze Nevermore and work on the Sanctuary stuff for the next years. I hope I'm totally wrong (though I'm really curious about the planned Sanctuary output), but I'm prepared for the worst :-(
The one thing you need to remember is that it was not due to ego / money / drugs they parted. They all had decent reasons (Health, family, musical differences) and in the end it cannot be seen as the result of a single cause, but as a collection of problems that lead to their (possible) disbandment. I guess they have a higher calling.. Thats all....
@CreatorOfChaosxxx Ever seen movie called "Prestige"? Whenever he used the device for his performace, one of them ended up caged in water box, and a clone appeared somewhere not far away from the device. Question is, which one is original himself, which one is a clone? Are all of them a clone or all of them original ?
nevermore is amazing. broderick is a fucking god, i have no idea how he can remember every song he wrote for jag panzer to play live with them a few years back, as well as remember ever song for nevermore at the same time, and now megadeth. loomis is a guitar good too, a great writer. love the lyrics, warrel danes the man. nevermore just all around kicks ass
The only one thing I can say about this band is "They are fucking awesome". Jeff Loomis is the man! I hope this summer I could go to see them at least two dates. They will always have my support. Sound cheesy but fuck I don't care.

RIP Warrel Dane. This fantastic performance captures the incredible dynamics of his vocals, he will be sorely missed.

@@sisaktamas Yes sadly.
I had no idea he was dead. Pretty sad to hear years later. He was pretty much the perfect metal vocalist rip

RIP Warrel Dane. What an amazing voice. And this era had the 2 most under rated guitarists ever.

"The Learning"(part 1) "Senteint 6"(part 2) - seriously, that's how they're played live, here. Also, "The Passenger", "In Memory" is amazing as well as "Matricide" and "The Psalm of Lydia."

65 percent of the planet would take a synthetic opioid drink by the 10,000 gallon vat and say thanks, 1/3 off the world is starving to death, 5 percent need bones they can't or don't want to get replaced, 5 percent need organs they can't or don't want to get replaced, 5 percent are terminally ill 5 percent comic pain, 5-10 percent never wanted to be here anyway, and everyone else will have a peaceful way to go when they want. Guy saves 1M in state aid, paid 600k in social security, doesn't have to die every day, just gets to leave before suffering. The guy with the kids gets 800 k from Uncle Sam in life insurance he never signed up for and Uncle Sam keeps the other 800k. Free euthanasia. Cut inflation by more than half, more than doubled available resources. Have a job by a company which pays all the taxes and picks up grass clippings M-S to take it to fields now with cows on it, 4x your US cattle with lawn mower clippings from every years, save 2500 on property taxes and make sure your clippings are out in your neighborhood on Tuesdays
Dig out 10 ' of river bed and cast and set two 10' pipelines to being Atlantic ocean water to every house, use steam distiller for sale free disinfected water at the kitchen sink, dump waste water into sealed pipelines. It took a turn 2 years to dig out 10' of riverbed, everyone could be back to work working in every town and we'd be at with new infrastructure. Don't put salt in your water, have more salt for more roads in the winter. Use electrolysis for energy from salt water. At the very least, feed rivers with desal water immediately to overcome drought shortages, no problem
Make a grass and corn crop that grows in ocean water hybrid with say, oceanic grass root structures, best generic corn crop growing in salt water in Texas and Arizona while you solar desalinate more oxygen and hydrogen into the air in a 24/7/365 grow season with ocean water and no weeds growing in salt water cross, full your swimming pool with ocean water and water your karma with salt water, dint out salt in your what salt water put it in the roads, use a small steam distiller makes it glass and stainless to get disinfected and salt water free water for cooking and drinking, maybe an ocean let for your pool, were have to deal with ocean water rise, how about a Dolphin?
Как мне жаль, что я так никогда и не смогу попасть на его живой концерт - я почти в отчаянии( Мир слишком много потерял со смертью Уоррела... Вечная память...
Warrel is that good when I first saw this I almost thought his vocals were overdubbed lol. Resting up in Paradise you Legend
The only one thing I can say about this band is "They are fucking awesome". Jeff Loomis is the man! I hope this summer I could go to see them at least two dates. They will always have my support. Sound cheesy but fuck I don't care.
