Habibati! If you haven't checked it out yet, here's the link to the Retrospective we did about Angelina Jordan, this was a labor of love, we'd be super happy if you checked it out and shared your thoughts.
This video was published in August 2016, she was born on January 10, 2006, so she was 10 years old. I'd like someone to explain to me how a 10-year-old can sing like that. With so much soul and sensitivity. I don't understand how. But it's been like that ever since I stumbled on her performances at NGT at age 8. An old soul?
I love watching and hearing Angelina sing with a full orchestra. So many great artists coming together with her beautiful voice, a match in heaven. This is by far my favorite performance of hers doing Summertime. So very beautiful. Thank you!
I find this performance almost too much to comprehend, a full orchestra for a little girl, but as we all know that little girl is one in a Billion plus. I can never express my full admiration for Angelina as the words don't exist in mortality. Lovely choice and perfect reaction.
I really never have seen Angelina nervous. She 's happy singing and she knows how.Goodness gracious, she knows because she feels the lyrics in her heart and soul. And she understands them at first sight.I'm 73 years old and I only wish she'll be admired for her voice, her emotion and not for her physical beauty, which of course is very evident.I love Angelina, almost as much as my three granddaughters, but they can't sing, they're super at basket.Youcan't have everything❤
The Best Musicians in all of Norway working in perfect harmony with the Greatest Vocalist in the countries history......AND THE LITTLE GIRL IS 10 YEARS OLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you Arab man, one of my 100's of favourites of AJ just sublime, so calm she's a dream. She said in a recent live stream she is to be working with Kork again, 17 yrs old AJ heaven.💗👣
Can you even fathom and 11-year-old performing a CLASSIC with a full orchestra, let alone a delivery to die for, this is the genius of Angelina Jordan. We as fans of this angel are so lucky to be in the here and now to experience her.
I no longer have any more adjectives for Angelina, when she goes into a trance and rolls her eyes she invites you on a magical, sublime journey. thanks Arab Man sdos Argentina.
Angelina often slows down the tempo of songs so she can add embellishments and ornaments. She famously has told conductors to do this but of course in her own sweet way...
In American football we have an expression when fans put their hands on their heads with the elbows apart like you did at the end of this song. We call it the surrender cobra and it is an involuntary reaction to the moment we realize that our team is defeated and the game is over. Angelina has been prompting that reaction for a decade now.🤩
I ALWAYS enjoy watching this video. For the first time, I got the feeling that, based upon the sound of the applause, there were a LOT more people in the audience that's shown in the video. It was also the first time that I've heard anyone blow me away with awesome, impromptu scatting after their reaction. I'm glad I didn't shut it down before hearing that! For me, it was like the icing on the cake!😃
😊 I think it's the coolest and most beautiful performance of that song I've ever seen. The orchestra was absolutely incredible, the soft arrangement completely floored me. How smart to let Angie shine without a bunch of power brass. It ended up lacking nothing at all. Felt so delicate, I bet only a genius could make something so soft and delicate feel that crazy beautiful.
This reminds me very much of her “Song for A” with the production and energy of being part of a bigger event than just the solo. Everyone is reading sheet music, even the percussionists. Song for A was even more impressive to me because it wasn’t just about her vocal; her whole part led up to the final violin solo which was just something we had to experience to understand just how professional and prepared Angelina is to tackle this type of performance.
This ANGEL is a superb vocalist!!! Best I have heard in decades!! it is not easy to sing with a complete orchestra. Her low register is phenomenal!!! and her feel for the song, her emotional content is second to NONE! ...Great reaction as usual man! like, sub, comment and notification bell from me Bro. 😇
Thanks once again Boudy for the Monday's with Angelina....like I have said previously...wish there were more "Mondays" on the calendar. You already know this for sure...this is a 10 year old child delivering this absolutely stunning performance here with this orchestra. This version is her interpretation of the Gershwin version of this great song. Personally, love the NGT version at 8 years old but this one just sits differently with me, it is a masterful vocal rendition...that would be by anyone, yet alone a 10 year old. Appreciate you Angelina support as always Boudy!!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰 Once again I have tears in my eyes....and I am a grown man....just don't understand anymore.
The beauty of UA-cam is making your own playlists. I have one with mostly Angelinas top end high quality songs peppered with Diana and Aurora . Three new masters of song and vocals unlike any other. I kinda can't listen to others too much. But Angelina is pure and beautiful every time without fail
My favorite version of Angelina singing Summertime, at least as far as the vocals go, is from the Seoul Korea performance at the Muse festival. I have listened to that performance countless times and her voice and vocal choices were perfect. Also, from that same concert that version of Faded is in my opinion hands down her best
LOL, that’s some good scatting! And another immaculate performance by Angelina. Opinions differ, and that’s just fine, but for me, this is her finest version of «Summertime». And by extension, simply the best version.
No one ‘Understands’ Angelina better than my favorite Arab man. For Angelina the music comes first and boy it shows whenever she sings Summertime. I believe that the music shows that appreciation right back by surrendering to her love and her vocals .
Hi AMR 👋. Love how you noticed the small details and point them out to people. Like the harp, tension, her timing etc. We love it when a reactor can give a good professional and educated reaction. The nerdier the better 😁. God bless you and your family 🙏 ✝️❤ 🙂👍
It is said that when God wants to listen to music, he listens to Bach or Mozart. When Angels want to listen to music, they listen to Angelina Jordan and God eavesdrops.
The Norwegian Radio Orchestra (Norwegian, Kringkastingsorkestret, abbreviated as KORK) is a very popular orchestra throughout Scandinavia and beyond. Among the artists it is considered an honor and awards to receive an invitation from KORK. Once again, Angelina (10y) proves her musical talent. Regardless of whether it is a capella, acoustic, jazz band or orchestra version, we always experience an amazing Angelina. The conductor's facial expression, his enthusiasm for Angelina's performance says it all. 💯 *AJ* 💯👣 Summertime is the title of the most famous aria from the opera Porgy and Bess by George Gershwin (music), Ira Gershwin and DuBose Heyward, which premiered in 1935. Summertime was marketed in isolation as an independent song from this opera and developed into the most-covered jazz and classical standard of all time. 🤗🤗
I can't believe what I just saw. That was absolutely brilliant. Who the F is arranging this Sh. This is other worldly good. As a musician I would never even think of the levels that this young girl goes to. She has to have guidance on this as it s incomprehensible for a person so young to be able to do this with so much style and never a wrong note. She just elevates every passage.
Great analysis of a beautiful song by a beautiful Orchestra. Whoever you have a musical background and your reactions to the right spot on keep it up you're doing a great job.
If she’s nine here, it’s just barely. You didn’t comment on the fact that she slowed this performance down quite a bit from her NGT performance. Her timing was perfection, and she couldn’t see the conductor, so he was following her, not the other way around. Every time I hear this, I love it all the more.
I’m so glad this was recorded because the orchestra looked larger than the audience. I think I’ve heard Angelina sing Summertime in four different performances. She’s a true jazz singer, giving us her different takes depending on her age, the band behind her, or maybe her mood. But with Angelina you always feel you’re getting what she’s feeling rather than something rehearsed to death over the past months. Whatever the mood or venue, she makes you feel, not just hear, the lyrics.
What an interesting venue and performance. KORK is truly one of the most outstanding orchestras in Europe. I understand Angelina met with them when she was in Oslo a couple of weeks ago. Maybe there are some surprises in the future... The contrast between the orchastra, the small audience and an incredible 10 year old was magic. The selection of the venue is interesting. This was performed at a restaurant a few miles South of Oslo. You can view the Oslo fyord through the windows. In her 10th year, Angelina was breathtaking. This is just one of many unbelievable performances.👣💕
In her younger videos her right leg and foot has a mind of its own, in this one it was quietly tripping out and keeping her calm..... but making you vent the stress for her... clever foot... LOL
Great reaction to a masterpiece. Another thing to consider, Angelina was standing slightly in front and a little to the side of the conductor and probably couldn’t see his direction very well and yet her timing was impeccable, second to none.
Wonderful reaction and great that you brought the attention to the timing. Her sense of timing is mysteriously and extraordinary good and always has been. The two songs that made her famous in the first place from Billie Holiday (Gloomy sunday and I'm a fool to want you) both are slow ballads. Summertime might be seen the same way. To feel the beat with little to even none rhytmycal accompinament is very difficult. Especially in a jazzy, partly improvised way. She sang I'm a fool to want you at age 7 a capella, almost with perfect timing and pitch (skipped some empty bars, because it would take too long without hearing the band). A couple of years later (11 or 12) she recorded it with a (military wind) orchestra flawless. Only musicians understand how special it is that she could do that so tasteful at such a young age.
I agree. There is something impossibly beautiful about how Angelina stretches out the notes. When it comes to slow ballads, I think she is one of the greatest ever.
A big orchestra behind her ?🎉look at her opening of the 85. Birthday Event of Quincy Jones, London O2 Arena with the original arrangement of Quincy. The biggest London symphony orchestra singing Fly me to the moon 🌙 at the age of 12y Quincy was a biggest fan
I find the performance to be like floating down a river in the summer on a small boat with the sun shining and the birds and crickets sounding off…The pace of this performance is wonderful. When Angelina slows songs down they vastly improve. I did not realize that her foot was keeping that pace but now it is clear. Thanks for that observation. Her eyes rolled many times during this performance and I believe she went to that beautiful place she talks about when she performs.
Songs like this and SONG FOR A , and MY FUNNY VALENTINE( 16) are important to understand Angelina. She is not one of those singers relies on tricks and vocal ticks. She can abandon the grit and fry for a pure smooth classical jazz etc. She has complete control She doesn't need to show off its all about the musical interpretation. Is she11 or 12 here Angels?
Many of her performances in the age 10-13 yo age range were non-professional, and the vocal mix was ba or weak. This one is an exception, as it is a professional recording, well-mixed.
Watching Angelina perform “Summertime” as Gershwin wrote it, with her more advanced skills at age 10 and supported by much of the fabulous KORK, is nothing more than awesome. I also like her interpretation of the cover that Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald did together - both performed at the marina with the setting sun in her eyes for its beauty and magic vibes ua-cam.com/video/5HR2GP1EDr0/v-deo.html and at NGT for her enthusiasm and the surprise of the crowd, but "Summertime with KORK" is so much more beautiful, unfortunately outshined by her famous Ella/Louis cover (NGT) - so thank you for reacting to the KORK version.👍 I think it should be clarified once more - this is a different approach on the song. Angelina used the jazz standard for her NGT performance, based on the famous Louis Armstrong/Ella Fitzgerald duet, and this was a good choice for the occasion because it's in her wheelhouse and was fitting the time limit on this NGT show well. But this performance with KORK is the operatic aria as originally written by Gershwin for his opera Porgy and Bess. It is actually a soprano part and should be sung in a way that would lull a baby to sleep. Some complain that it's too slow, but it might still be a bit too fast compared to the original. Angelina is primarily a jazz artist, but she is so versatile and not limited to jazz, as you can see very well here. With her contralto tessitura she can't go as high as a soprano in the long run, but this interpretation not only does more than justice to the original - it has fairytale magic on it. . And the orchestra's performance cannot be praised enough. The overall package is just great. KORK (KringkastingsORKestret = The Broadcasting Orchestra) is the Norwegian Radio Orchestra affiliated with the Norwegian national Broadcasting Corporation (NRK) and it is here in full cast (I count 53 musicians). Here's an additional short pre-concert interview with excerpts from the rehearsal ua-cam.com/video/jbSvk__nRQU/v-deo.html (turn on subtitles) and here you can watch how it sounds when sung by a soprano - another national treasure of Norway, Sissel Kyrkjebø ua-cam.com/video/oc731PV7kwk/v-deo.html I just recently found a Japanese docu clip about the song, showing Angelina as the heir of the Greats of the past (including Maria Callas) ua-cam.com/video/cQFRdfCTgiU/v-deo.html . It has Japanese subtitles, so one can choose Automatic translation to English in order to understand the spoken word.
This always stunned me this Recording. Hay guys and Arab man. When this Reaction finishes. Play the ariginal on full screen. Have a look how many different types of instruments are playing together as the camera pans around the room. It is amazing how perfectly they are playing and blending with each other. How well they are playing with Angelina's singing. I love listening to this. Can never get sick of it. Thank you for playing this and reminding me about this peace of music. Steve from NZ
By this time of this individual's decade old existence, a decree by the King of this mountainous snow- covered fairy tale lands, declared her a national treasure. By this time, a book had been published and lyrics had already been written. By this time, international stages were graced by her presents for the benefit of her many charities. By this time, many had come to realize that miracles are real. The future is bright. Hope lights the way. Rb
Such a stunning performance of Angelina! Gets even better and better each time you hear it. And what a great performance of you, Boudy!😅😂 - Thank you, Ramzi for putting that in!!🎉😄👍🙏
Wanna see Angelina nervous ? Give her a poor band match up. I'd like to put my camo boot up Christie's ass. As soon as she realized we love her more than life itself she loosened up. I have NEVER seen her this tense EVER in any performance. She still brought the roof down. And I can tell you as a fact that not one Angelina fan would trade last Friday for a million bucks. Regardless of the band. It wasn't a concert, it was a two hour journey to somewhere else. And when you're there you never want to leave. I'll tell you what, whoever's still reading, when she performed " Unchained melody" we all went somewhere together. Ask anyone that was there. It was magical and surreal. When she finished the place erupted for a five minute standing ovation. Every soul in that theatre knew something special just went down. Angelina is a miracle. 👍❤️
I am wondering if this was a royal performance for Angelina. Given the size of the audience and the formal dress of the orchestra and Angelina, it appears that it may be. Also of note is the size of the atrium and all of the banners outside.
Habibati! If you haven't checked it out yet, here's the link to the Retrospective we did about Angelina Jordan, this was a labor of love, we'd be super happy if you checked it out and shared your thoughts.
10 years old her very best interpretation, in my opinion! 😇🌺
I think Angelina has said she actually enters another world when she sings. I think this a part of her skill set to give such fine performances.
Not an exact quote, but Angelina said something like, "Many performers dread getting on stage; I dread leaving stage."
Most beautiful rendition of this Gershwin classic I've ever heard...gorgeous...how do you not fall in love with this young lady?
As I have said many times, Angelina was was endowed with a highly developed intuition, instincts and an ear for all things music.
Just beautiful she should be on top of a wedding cake!
This video was published in August 2016, she was born on January 10, 2006, so she was 10 years old. I'd like someone to explain to me how a 10-year-old can sing like that. ...and the slower the tempo, the harder it is. She nailed the timing and with her signature sensitivity. Still unreal to me.
She is music 🎶 when she is on stage, she's home
Angelina has an inate sense of timing and phrasing, so much so that she plays with it, literally making it music to our ears.

Thanks for the wonderful Angelina reactions Arab man. 👍❤️
Angelina sang this song many times, each different.
Angelina often slows down the tempo of songs so she can add embellishments and ornaments. She famously has told conductors to do this but of course in her own sweet way...
Beautiful
Thanks for the reaction to our angel Angelina.. she’s simply the best..❤
In American football we have an expression when fans put their hands on their heads with the elbows apart like you did at the end of this song. We call it the surrender cobra and it is an involuntary reaction to the moment we realize that our team is defeated and the game is over. Angelina has been prompting that reaction for a decade now.🤩

Such a great, detailed reaction!!! I love that you bring attention to all the complexities of AJ’s vocals
I’m so glad this was recorded because the orchestra looked larger than the audience. I think I’ve heard Angelina sing Summertime in four different performances. Watching Angelina perform “Summertime” as Gershwin wrote it, with her more advanced skills at age 10 and supported by much of the fabulous KORK, is nothing more than awesome.
I also like her interpretation of the cover that Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald did together - both performed at the marina with the setting sun in her eyes for its beauty and magic vibes ua-cam.com/video/5HR2GP1EDr0/v-deo.html and at NGT for her enthusiasm and the surprise of the crowd, but "Summertime with KORK" is so much more beautiful, unfortunately outshined by her famous Ella/Louis cover (NGT) - so thank you for reacting to the KORK version.👍
I think it should be clarified once more - this is a different approach on the song. Angelina used the jazz standard for her NGT performance, based on the famous Louis Armstrong/Ella Fitzgerald duet, and this was a good choice for the occasion because it's in her wheelhouse and was fitting the time limit on this NGT show well.

Here's an additional short pre-concert interview with excerpts from the rehearsal ua-cam.com/video/jbSvk__nRQU/v-deo.html (turn on subtitles) and here you can watch how it sounds when sung by a soprano - another national treasure of Norway, Sissel Kyrkjebø ua-cam.com/video/oc731PV7kwk/v-deo.html
I just recently found a Japanese docu clip about the song, showing Angelina as the heir of the Greats of the past (including Maria Callas) ua-cam.com/video/cQFRdfCTgiU/v-deo.html . It has Japanese subtitles, so one can choose Automatic translation to English in order to understand the spoken word.
Paul you are a treasure for provide all of us, with this wealth of information. Thank you! Rb

Epic, God Bless!
Now this is music. Oh divine that orchestra and her sumptuous vocals❤ I feel so carried away in memories not mine but universal unto all. 🎙️
Rb
noteworthy how the appreciative audience reacts but with a contemplative air of, 'what strange thing did I just witness?'
Truest magical. Love this performance and your reaction 🫶
Nice scat to take us out; thanks.
❤❤❤
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I am wondering if this was a royal performance for Angelina. Given the size of the audience and the formal dress of the orchestra and Angelina, it appears that it may be.
Also of note is the size of the atrium and all of the banners outside.
❤❤❤🥰
This could be from Rogers& Hammerstein musical.!
It's from George Gershwin musical
If that's not a SIC amount of talent to have at that age, I don't know what is. I'm out of here! (THANKS)
I would like to see your reaction to zeynep avci singing at the voice of germany. that was also a breathtaking experience.
