I second that point about 'its about the song/music' . First time I saw and heard her, gap in front teeth and all, it was as if she was 'channeling,' in some way, the true spirit of the song/music itself, as if the music itself is living right in front of you, except it used the physical body of a very young young girl. (Very uncanny experience , I think, enhanced in that case by her pure a capella performance). In her later performances its the same thing, the 'music taking over'.

Back to watch this reaction for maybe the 6th time… I think I found a good "nutshell" way of putting what you were saying about which of the two types of singers she is. It is this: For her, the performance is all about her voice, and what she's doing with her voice is all about the song.

I'm sitting here, major goosebumps, just WOW, WOW!!! Angelina was the first time I ever heard this song, so yes, unfortunately, I missed out on a lot of different genres of music. Jazz & The Blues being two of them. I absolutely love how Angelina's stage stance, she commands, without trying, and to be perfectly honest, she doesn't even know how amazing she is on stage, her presence is undeniable. I've listened to both Nina Simone, and Buble sing this same song, and o know it's Nina's song, but I'm sorry Angelina made this her sing right here, right now with this performance. I love all of her songs when she was young, amazing!!

Look up her version of Diamonds Are Forever. It’s a live performance outdoors and her hair is very full and frizzy looking. There is more added production to the sound , but I absolutely love it. She doesn’t have anything in her hair. There is another video where she has a flower headband on.

Unbelievable talent
How? She is the greatest female vocalist to ever live. You will soon believe as well. That band is her own full time band hired after her win on Norway's Got Talent. That was about 2 years when this was taped. They called her "Boss," not because she is their boss but because after hearing her sing, they knew they were working for the future greatest. She has always arranged her own music and has retained that right while contracted to Republic Records. Wait until you experience her 17 year old development and perfection! Oh, she has super-model good looks as well.

I'm not a simple minded human, I too know exactly what you're speaking about, I've seen, I heard, so many different types of music, even though I might like a particular artist, group, band, or song, here's where I can separate an artist from all other aspects of a particular song. I can listen to the original artist, or I can listen to the same artist singing a cover. Just as I heard your honest description of Michael Buble, you characterized the best way you understand how you personally can differentiate what he brings to his way of singing style, and we all know that there are those artist that not be duplicated, no matter if there's another singer out there who just may be a close second. It's difficult to imitate greatness period. My soul recognized music at a very young age 8-9 yrs of age. I know very few that really understands an artists ability to be more than an entertainer, a great voice, a great stage presence, a showman. There's more than a record deal, more than wealth, for me I can hear the richness the simple quality, without effort, the look in the eye of a truly gifted artist and see what we can see is absolutely magical! Angelina Jordan has this, I'm happy that she hasva large following, and that many are stunned by her abilities as a singer an artist, but I honestly wonder if they really see, really know what this child who is gifted only by God alone, no one taught her, what she has wasn't practiced, wasn't shown to her, she had this gift before her birth. Yes, her grandmother encouraged her, brought magical artist for Angelina as an infant to listen to, this little 18 month old baby knew already that see loved that magical sounds that she now sings herself. There are 2 or 3 songs she did when she is about five years old in a recording studio. One she is giving a house tour and shows them her “not so good” pink guitar then spontaneously playing and singing Rolling in the Deep.

Thank you for another reaction to Angelina. In my opinion, she is the best singer in the world, and there are thousands of others who would agree with me. Every moment you spend featuring her on your channel will being you great emotional satisfaction. And, congratulations to you: for you are one of the very few reactors of the over 1,600 who have featured Angelina who has recognised that she always p,ays resect to the original singer. She did this at the age of 7 on her audition at Norway's Got Talent and has continued to do so since then.
There are so many things I get from this performance. Some I recognised immediately and those I missed were brought to my attention by the more observant Angelina fans (her Angels) and I thank them for letting me know what I had missed.
(1) The realisation that at the age of 10 Angelina has shed all childishness from her voice.
(2) A feeling that the placement of the spotlight at the beginning of her performance was deliberate. If it was, then, to my mind, it was a brilliant move.
(3) The fact that Angelina arranged this song and that the band kept out of the way and let her voice be the focus.
(4) The incredible low note she sang for the word "good" at the beginning and end of the performance.
(5) That wonderful crescendo at the end.
(6) The was Angelina used her left arm and hand throughout the performance
(7) The way she changed the microphone from her right hand to left hand, so that she could flip her hair back with her right hand.
(8) The cheeky smile she gave to the cameraman when she realised he had focused on her at about 6.50 in your reaction video.
(9) The sideways look and grin she gives to her instrumentalists just after she curtsies to the audience -- as if to say, "Yeah, we killed it, guys! Now let's go get some ice cream!"
(10) The almost instantaneous switch from "performance" mode to that of a young child who,curseyed and gave a sweet smile to the audience as an acknowledgement of their applause.
Others have commented that the performance by Nina Simone should be considered the "gold" standard for this song. Until recently, I had never watched her performance, but have now done so. They just cannot be compared, for Angelina's arrangement is totally different

This may be the first time I've heard her sing this song in this performance (I think she did it for Norway's Got Talent and I heard THAT one), and something I'm just now noticing is that she gets really tasty, savory and sweet musicians to back her. I can only imagine what a treat it must be to be asked to back someone whose own insturment is so gorgeous. I often think reactors to her cover of I Put a Spell on You should show a little but more love for those musicians, but now I am seeing that her gift appears to draw out the gift in others. I'm truly amazed that you've already uncovered part of what makes Angelina's performances so "magical'. Looking forward to many more of your Angelina reactions. I know you're going off a list - but to learn more about Angelina as a person, I highly recommend her interview with Ann Lindmo, NRK TV when Angelina was 9. I've commented so many times that Angelina doesn't perform. She just sings and lets us listen....and we are so lucky for it. Her music moves me. Can't wait til you get to Suspicious Minds. You’ve understood something about Angelina that doesn’t get mentioned enough because reactors are too stunned by what they’re hearing. Angelina respects the music and often pays homage to the original singers. She also gives us authenticity for whatever genre she’s singing-and you haven’t even scratched the surface on that. Blues, jazz, pop, soul, ballads, r&b, and some gospel once in a while. Her vocal toolkit seems limitless, but she doesn’t flaunt it.
What I realized a couple years ago is still hard for me to accept. Angelina gives me my favorite versions of many songs in about five different genres. I followed music all my life and I respect the great singers, but I’ve never heard any singer who can effortlessly deliver such beautiful performances in so many different styles. There’s no way to analyze it. She’s just the best singer I’ve ever heard, and I realized that when she was 12 and I heard her acoustic cover of Adele’s A Million Years Ago (it’s on your playlist). When Adele sings her melancholy song, you feel her sorrow. When Angelina sings it, you understand that every word in the lyrics applies to you and your life.
You forgot rock, classical poetry, swing, folk, modern country, EDM, adult contemporary, Christian, and even her Jazzy pop & modern retro etc.❤❤❤

Because Angelina is about the music & not herself, she only uses whatever vocal tools are needed to interpret that song, rather than some singers you described that use every tool in their toolbox in every song they sing. For that reason it takes about 50-60 songs from many different genre of music until you've seen most her skills. Even then she will surprise you with something you've never heard her do before.
