A philanthropist is a rich person looking to increase their net worth by increasing their fanbase through a better image.
Sure, it helps people.
But imagine if they did more, and didn't do it out of greed. So much more people could be helped.
Look up Josè Mujica, he used to be president of Uruguay. The man gave away 90% of his income to charities and people in need, and never made a dime out of for himself. What he made, he again gave away.
Thàt is true philanthropist and a true good person. And the reason why is very admirable too. He learned to live with less while in prison, where he learned the value of life. Then became president through hard work, and once he became president, he actually fulfilled èvery single promise he made. He even lived a very poor life style. In a small country house, unlike most other leaders. He didn't dress in fancy expensive suits either. No big car. No private jet, etc.
Imagine if all philanthropists were like that. We'd be living in a utopia right now, where everyone was equal and everyone helped each other because the act of helping would be normalised
