    Just got induced three days ago. Used the balloon method. Asked for a hit of morphine right after I started dilating rapidly 😂 the worst part of labor for me was when they placed the epidural into my spine. But the pay off was actually delivering my baby without feeling anything!!

      Hey kiddo! Your spelling and grammar are stellar! If you want to be a doctor, I believe you have everything it takes to be one! If you want to do both pediatrics and labor/delivery, consider being a PA (physician assistant)! It takes fewer years of schooling than a doctor, and you'll be able to work in any specialty instead of settling for just one.

      Primary care and family physicians are in desperate need in Canada and the USA. Definitely consider becoming one if you like babies and want to work in medicine. Family doctors, especially in smaller communities, often are the ones that handle all prenatal and postnatal care.

    I got induced on a Monday morning super early, then it took THREE DAYS for me to finally be admitted on the Wednesday night! Finally fully dilated around midnight, only to end up needing an emergency c section around 5am because the baby’s head was big and she wasn’t turned quite the right way. Oof

    I had my son on the 12th. I had been given pit to help myself dilate faster. My contractions were brutal back to back. I'm lucky and my body reacts very well to pitocin. Once I got the pit and epidural, my little guy was out within a few hours.

    I had to get induced with my 2 pregnancies. The first one took so long: it start on tusday around 10 am I got a pill, a few hours later oxitocina but after 24 hours I wasn't even 3 cm dilated (they gave me morfina so I can sleep and rest) the put the Foley balloon too but didn't work. Finally the gave me pitocin and my baby was born on Thursday at 6 am vaginally. My 2nd pregnancy got induced too but I was in so much more pain that the first one. I had to get a emergency C-section. I wish I could have a normal delivery without any induction.

      I’ve gotten induced 3 times! First one I went in Wednesday at 6 am and didn’t have her until Friday at 6:53 am. Second one was within a couple of hours and third was less then an hour after contractions starting buttttttt with that being said it feels absolutely horrible everytime and for some reason contraction pains get more intense with each labor. I’m pregnant with my fourth and already talked about a membrane sweep at 38 weeks with my midwive and induction at 39 weeks. And yes epidural has never worked for some reason 🤷🏻‍♀️

    Why do they need to take blood so much 😵‍💫 I never had an issue with passing out when my blood was taken and in the last year I passed out twice in roughly a two month span 😭 now I’m scared to get pregnant and have a baby if they’ll be pricking me with needles and taking my blood a lot

    • @amieparham7657
      @amieparham7657 Рік тому

      Because your blood can tell if you are healthy enough or have the proper levels of certain cells in your body for induction.
      For example, if you don't have a high enough iron level going into labor and delivery, you could bleed more after delivery. If the doctor knows this ahead of time, they can be prepared.
      If you have certain blood types and your baby has a different blood type, they need to know if your blood has mixed at delivery, and if your body is sensitized to the baby's blood as it will effect future pregnancies.
      Overall, you get blood drawn 2-4 times while pregnant. It really isn't super often. And some things they can do a finger prick, like the iron levels.
      Having a child is worth it. If you know you pass out, you can warm the person taking your blood, and they can help you. ♥️

    • @meganamos8543
      @meganamos8543 Рік тому +9

      The first exam is important, because they need to know if your cervix is ready for labor. You need a nice, soft cervix that is ready to dilate before you move on.

    • @codename495
      @codename495 Рік тому +8

      A few things. The first is you will likely be given the opportunity to ask questions and it will be explained that without a cervical exam it is essentially impossible to know if your contractions are effective, if your labor is progressing and what stage your labor is in. Not being able to asses that can very likely lead to additional interventions and perhaps c-section. Discussing your reasons WHY you’re against the cervical exam, what if anything can be done to help you be more open to the benefits of that exam and what that exam entails. As a mom who has had three gigantic babies I can promise you that if you’re worried about the exam hurting fear not. If you’re laboring without pain meds you won’t care about how the exam feels as you’ll be focusing on contractions and if you are laboring with an epidural you won’t feel it.

    • @changemymind666
      @changemymind666 Рік тому +3

      @@codename495 I just don't want anyone looking/touching down there. I think I'm just going to have to insist on a C section, even if they don't want to do one. There's no way I'm going to let it happen the natural way. Pain isn't a concern of mine. It's the indecency and embarrassment.

    • @MamaSassKathryn
      @MamaSassKathryn Рік тому +1

      @@changemymind666 a c section will have you naked, splayed on a table in a bright room full of strangers. You need a catheter inserted. So idk how less "embarrassing" that is.
