BT3 actually has tons of small cutscenes for battles you were not supposed to win/lose but manage to. I remember one in Nameek that you plays as Frieza, and if you lose against Gohan, Vegeta starts talking how he can't believe that a kid is the legendary Super Saiyan. It's hilarious.
Funny thing is: the last easter egg you showed in the video with Fasha was the one i got when i played the game for the first time. I realised that Zarbon took less damage, indicating that i was not meant to win, but stubborn young me was like "Screw this! im not losing to this guy!" and beat the hell out of him. I legit did not know that this was a hidden ending for this "what if" scenario.
me too, i beat him the first time but i just skipped the dialogue because i'm used to the dialogue being short and useless when you do something you're not supposed to
what I like about Tenkaichi 3 is that in the story mode, you don't need to press R3 to to finish the battle,, you can finish the normal way, sometimes it's the normal ending, sometimes it's a cut to black, but in certain fights, in-between certain events, you can defeat your enemy in non-cannon ways and the characters will have a little commentary on what just happened, like if you defeat Raddits without killing Goku

Not always. I still remember a ridiculously impossible fight that I won with a weak character against a very strong one and the game simply gave me the DEFEAT screen for WINNING!!!
Cell states in both the manga and anime, during his first encounter with piccolo that he’s able to do spirit bomb if he wants. We never actually see him do it, but I believe most of these games take Cell at his word.

The cool thing in dbzbt3 is no matter what character you win a fight in the story mode they have all their own special dialogue. The kid buu one where’s he really tanky because goku is suppose to use the spirit bomb to kill him is one example. It’s so difficult to beat him with hercule, but you get a dialogue where they are shock that he beat kid buu. Tried it when I was younger to see if each had dialogue and they do. Nice detail the devs put there too.
You know, that reminds me of something fun. My copy of DBZBT3 didn't work perfectly, so when I try to use certain characters the game wouldn't work anymore. And one of this characters was Mr Satan. So without being able to get him out to stall kid Buu, I had to somehow kill him using only Goku and Majin Buu in order to win that fight. If he thinks beating Zarbon with Fasha was hard, then defeating Kid Buu may be almost impossible.
@@ZargosK dude the chip damage is wild during that fight. I kept using Buu’s freezing breath move because I was fast enough to charge it up and spam it without him getting close
It's not really that hard. Hercule is a broken character due to his bomb special. You just need to cheese it. But yeah, it's nice to see. Many games just pretend like it never happened and still show your character losing during the cutscenes.
Here's one I haven't seen anybody mention. In Tenkaichi 3 if you make a tag-team of Spopovich and Babidi you can power up "Babidi's Ultimate Power" by using Spopovich's "Majin Buu's Resurrection" and I think you can stack it up to three times to make it do major damage. Pretty neat little easter egg to add continuity to the tag-team. Edit: Also, "Majin Buu's Resurrection" does less damage to androids.
Fun fact: Halo effect also works on the other Z-Warriors. It works on Tien, Yamcha, Krillin, Chaotzu and Piccolo. In fact, im pretty sure it works on any non-evil character that has died at least once in the series. Does not work on evil characters or Hercule. It is not limited to only Goku and Vegeta
Would spend hours as a kid matching up different characters just to hear every unique battle opening and end. It's a small detail but makes every fight worth it.
1:27 the term is super Armor. it's generally a term used in fighting game when people don't flinched when attacked. Edit: Wow, nearly 500 likes! Thank you all. It been a while since I last seen these numbers
You likely know or have mentioned this one, but in Budokai Tenkaichi 3, Devilman's Ultimate Attack, Devilmight Beam damage varieates according to who is used with. For example, the highest damage output its done agaisnt Final Form Janemba, who suffer 30000 of damage, while the lowest is shared among Goku(all base forms, transformations suffer from 1500 to 1650), Goten, Kid Chichi, #8, Nam and Arale who all suffer 0 damage. This is a nod to a quirk of the Devilmight Beam, as when he used it agaisnt Goku in OG Dragon Ball it didnt worked causehe had a pure heart.
I remember the devil might beam is a one shot move to people with evil in their heart. My question is can it kill Beerus or whis since both are not pure of heart? My guess is the attack can't harm gods.
So SSJ Goku doesn't die? He did say that as a Super Saiyan he can't do a Spirit Bomb since his heart would be considered impure hearted, but then again, he's still a good guy so i guess it would hurt a little bit but not fatal
Cell has stated in the anime that can perform the Spirit Bomb, but at no point does he use it. This is likely because of how long it takes to put together a Spirit Bomb and the fact that if the Spirit Bomb is deflected or redirected (like how Gohan did to Vegeta) towards Cell he'll be in big trouble since he is evil. So Cell can use the Spirit Bomb, but doesn't use it because of its slow build time and danger is poses to himself should his opponent manage to deflect it.
I think that's a mistranslation, it's purity that's the issue. That's why Kid Buu is able to stop the attack at first until Goku gets his strength back: He's pure *evil*
@@darkmeme2289 That only became the case in Super. Before that, only people with evil in their Ki can be hurt by it. Which is why Gohan was able to bounce it back at Vegeta.
@Toru Sato they dont charge their ki at all they only have to charge to reach full power which actually makes sense for robots and androids, also metal cooler
Another interesting detail is that when you try to fuse 2 characters the health bar depends on the health these characters had before you performed the fusion.
1:57 actually thats not true The Spirit Bomb can hurt anyone, but only those who are pure of heart can push it back The original manga never stated that good people couldn't get hurt by it unless there was a translation error
I believe I've read that the reason Future Gohan rarely has one arm is that in Japan, there are some issues relating to showing that sort of thing in games. Essentially, the ratings board over there considers it a form of dismemberment. You can also see it with Frieza, where you rarely ever see him get cut in half (though you do see him without his tail sometimes; the ratings board is more favorable to an appendage people don't normally have, I guess). DBZ Sagas was able to get away with it because it was made in America.
The funniest thing to me is while most games have Future Gohan fight with one arm but have both, Sagas has him with one arm but certain combos he still attacks with both
Good video! Oh yeah! The Halo was something I was happy seeing when equipping it. It's surprising how much we complete in these games as kids. Some of these points I say to myself "Oh wow, I remember doing that!". Forgotten SO much!
@@deanambros7806 Attacking someone and they did nothing to you. If your parents saw this they would be ashamed of you. If they would be proud of it, then I'm sorry you got raised poorly.
2:16 it isn't an attack that damages evil it can be done by anyone and can damage anything. Goku just aimed it against evil ki when he was fighting Vegeta so Krillin could catch it.
Similarly to beating Zarbon with Fasha in the Saiyan Galaxy Battle, I grinded the first story mode of budokai tenkaichi 3 to beat Nappa with Chiaozu. It took me suuuuper long, and there was barely any reward, just a small cutscene of Chiaozu saying "Tien ! I really did it !" or something to that effect. Haven't play the games in a while but I love your channel btw !
I think the reason why Cell can use the spirit bomb, is actually a reference to one of his panels on the manga talking to Piccolo, in which he stated that he can do all their techniques, even the spirit bomb, reason why he kept up with him in basically every game, maybe devs wanted to give him like a unique ultimate technique and not going for just a super kamehameha.
Thanks for showing my comment in your video, such an honour! The explanation for why the water shows on Budokai 3 (Vegeta's Final Flash) is because there are two versions of Budokai 3 on PS2. One is the original and the other is the Budokai 3 Collectors Edition! The HD remaster on PS3 and Xbox use the Collectors Edition. You also get Japanese voices, bug fixes, and extra costumes (King Piccolo, Trunks with Armour and you guessed it Goku with a Halo) definitely check it out!
I don't know if this is well known or not, Devilman's ultimate attack in the show did damage depending on the level of evil in the opponents heart, this is reflected on the game, if you use it on someone like Kid Goku it barely scratches him (just like it did in the show) however if you use it on Pure evil buu (The slender gray one) it fucking destroys him. That's a really nice level of detail
I always assumed it was Arale's height and inability to fly (flightless characters slowly descend to the ground in this game) that caused her to slip under the opponent's guard in air. Had no idea she had gag mechanics working in her favor
She does she has hyper armor, she can also break it, she doesnt need to charge ki because she is a robot, fighting against her is hard she is always in your face and doesnt let you charge then she doesnt fly so sometimes she just falls to the ground, if theyre in the air too long and dont fly they just fall to the ground fast instead of slowly they fall slowly because theyre moving their feet fast lol
She’s an android from Akira Toriyama’s previous work before Dragon Ball so in a way she’s Goku’s big Sister by four years. When your a parody/gag character you’re unbeatable(so long as it somehow funny) because you turn regular fights into gag fights and primarily your opponents are the straight man to the comedy setups. The early days of dragon ball, Goku had the same power as well before it became primarily a fight series over its gag/parody series origins.
The reason why we see Cell use the Spirit Bomb in games, despite the fact we haven't seen him use it in the franchise, is due to the fact that he mentioned it in both manga (chapter 364) and anime (episode 144) that he can use more than just a Kamehameha. He could probably create a Spirit Bomb if he needs to.
fun fact they actually brought back that accel dance easter egg in fighter z if you have krillian on a team with 18 he replaces 17 in her super attack but if 18 isn't with krillian than 17 does the attack with her. Also that easter egg with fasha isn't the only one there are a lot of alternate scenarios in BT3 example in the goku vs reccome fight if you get your ass kicked hard enough by recoome nail comes in to help and beats the force goku commits on how strong nail is and when this is over he wanted to go a round with nail agreeing
I enjoyed the video it’s pretty interesting to learn new facts about the budokai and Budokai Tenkaichi games. Some of these facts I knew about but the halo one, the wave effect one, future gohan using one arm and that what if dialogue weren’t something I didn’t notice actually. Great video! I hope to learn more new stuff. These games are part of my childhood actually alongside budokai 1.
It could be possible that Cell's Spirit Bomb IS that simple. He could have adapted the ability so that he uses the negative energy of life instead of positive giving his Spirit Bomb a much more broader destructive power instead of targeting simply the evil that the original can. Cell is artificial life and was created with the tools necessary to adapt and evolve in order to achieve his ultimate goal.
Budokai Tenkaichi 3. What a fucking gem. My 2 cents about Cell using the spirit bomb is that he's an bio-android. He's not good nor evil, he's simply doing as programmed, so he can do whatever the hell he wants. +Goku cells.
I know you're mostly focusing on older games, but in Xenoverse 2, custom trainer characters get special voicelines if you use special attacks they don't normally use, for example Pan has several special voicelines if she uses Videl's special attacks. EDIT: The ones I know have special voicelines are Justice Rush, Eagle Kick and I think Finish Buster and Justice Combination also have special voicelines.
2:00 The reason is that Cell in the manga says that he probably could do a spirit bomb, and most of db games carry the information to his move sets, that way, adding it.
I remembered using the Halo item a bunch even if it didn’t show up because it allowed you to charge faster and your special attacks used only half the amount of ki then it usually would
I had a bunch of these fighting games growing up, and whenever I was presented with playing as the losing side, I made absolutely sure to win, because I knew it unlocked secrets. Fasha was the hardest fight I had. Unlocking Zarbon's secret story was the second hardest.
5:00 Future Gohan also appears in the mobile game Dragon Ball Legends, and there is a specific one, which is the Legends Limited version, who has only one arm Also, he's the only character with a sparking rarity, that performs a different kind of tap attack, instead of punches, he uses kicks
Alright, it looks like I was completely wrong when I said it was a Goku and Vegeta thing. Just tested it again after reading your comment, and it works on most of the Z fighters.(PS2 version) When I was making the video, and testing everything, I swear they weren't appearing on anyone except Goku and Veg.😭😭 I was testing everything on the wii version. Maybe it was a wii version glitch? Bruh, I legit feel stupid rn, my bad.
@@kadazee Hello, I was the guy who made the comment in your video. I actually believed it only worked for Goku, Vegeta and Gogeta. If it works for other characters that's really cool! I wish you could add it to villains but "Halo" doesn't equip with them.

I've always heard the whole "You have to be pure of heart to use it" and "It only harms evil people" aspects of the Spirit Bomb were things added only by certain English dubs. There are no aspects like that to those techniques in the original Manga or Anime, the dubs were just trying to make Goku seem more heroic/superhero-like to make DBZ appeal more to western sensibilities. However I'm no expect and I don't know Japanese, so other than finding a Manga Translation or Anime Sub that claims to be accurate to the original Japanese, with no way of verifying those claims myself, and seeing what they say I have no way to confirm one way or another. Of course I've always like the Gag idea that Cell's Spirit Bomb is actually harnessing the collective stupidity of life on Earth/whatever planet he's on, hence "Alright planet, give me that stupid energy!" Which very well could make this version of the Spirit Bomb the strongest technique in the entire franchise, even stronger than whatever Zeno used to wipe out multiple entire universes.
Yea I feel like if it even was in the original manga, it has been retconned by super. Goku tries to use it against Jiren and Jiren is of course not an evil guy. Moreover he redirects it at goku who should be unaffected by it anyway but gets blown up.
Gohan was able to deflect the spirit bomb despite being severely weakened as well as no experience deflecting something like that. I feel you do have to be good but it was left out. The manga is pretty garbage because it doesn't explain things well they just happen. Anime did Z the best which is why it's beloved and not the mangs. Without the anime, you'd be stuck wondering hoe bad vegeta ki blast stunned cell while piccolo could not. In the anime vegeta was ascended ssj and hit cell with an enraged big bang attack. In the mamga goku and gohan weren't shown in the chamber so him just assuming gohan would go ss2 just doesn't work there.
@@SoraX66z Dragon Ball and DBZ are sort of a "base" canon, so everything that happens in Z canon is consistent with the stories of both Super and GT simultaneously. Super and GT then add their own bits of lore which can expand upon the canon of Z (such as Beerus's involvement in Z's events, which is only explicitly confirmed in the Super timeline but unconfirmed in the GT timeline). so if you're discussing what's canon to the main timeline (DB + Z + Super), you can take lore from Super and apply it to DB and DBZ.
Regarding one armed Gohan, I'm pretty in Budokai Tenkaichi 3, if you receive those ultimate moves to the face (when the character gets banged up), he'll also lose his arm! At least I remember it happening when I played it on the ps2
Speaking of devil man, his ultimate affects different characters for different values. Because it only works on evil characters (per the anime) it does max damage to evil buu and maybe syn shenron. But doesn't affect goku cause he's pure of heart
Future Gohan also appeared in Dragon Ball Z Shin Budokai Another Road (PSP). Fun fact: in that game he had the ability to turn into a Super Sayian 2 and Unlocked Potential because he was revived and trained with the old kai
Some characters can also use a different grab attack than the normal one. When the opponent is down you can grab them by the foot and launch them into the air
many of these story battles have an alternate ending. i remember how i beat Dr. Wheelo with Kid gohan and the characters were talking about how strong Gohan is.
Bro finding out you could beat bosses with the first characters you get in the story and get different cut scenes was amazing. Went back and work hard to beat them.
In DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi 2 and Infinite World, Cell also has the ability to do Genkidama, and in Tenkaichi 2 he also has the Halo custom. Edit: I love this video, it's really good! Congratulations Dude! 👏
When I was 10 I noticed the fact that future Gohan used only one arm and I couldn't see why, yet it made me smile a lot. It is bleeding incredible that I discover the reason of that 15 years later.
I think Accel Dance changes depending on whether the opponent is a Z fighter or a villain. I played a ton of Budokai 3 against my nephew who always picked some variant of Goku or fusion characters and Android 17 was always my partner.

If you watch original z cell mentions to piccolo that he is able to use the moves of the people he is comprised of. He actually say that he can even do goku’s spirit bomb
If I recall correctly, Future Gohan having two arms is something that is specific to the North American versions of these games. In the Japanese versions, he only has one arm, however they were required to censor it for NA release as some thought it would be “too violent/gruesome” for the international releases.
So in both versions he only has one arm? Also if anywhere it would have been censored in Japan. Japan is hugely against showing people with missing limbs.

@@razielkayn3885 Nah, I had the PAL version back then, and he can't lose the arm either. The most plausible explanation is that he was going to be armless up until very late in development, and they forced the devs to censor it.

Only the grab and the one handed Kamehameha are Future Gohan's signature moves.

I was curious, so I tried the Halo Z Item with all the characters in the roster that can equip it (only the good ones) and I came to the conclusion that the halo shows up during fights also on other characters: the three Gokus from Z, both the Piccolos, all the good Vegetas from Z, Krillin, Yamcha, Tien, Chiaotzu and Gogeta as well; as for the fusions: Vegito will never sport it, no matter what, whereas Gogeta will always have it if at least one of the fusee is equipped with the item. They're all characters that have been portrayed with a halo during the story, plus Krillin whose death(s) is clearly significant for the plot. On the other hand, Halo's evil counterpart, the Demon Seal (which I assume being the Majin symbol on the forehead), doesn't have any visible effects on those who equip it.
i love u making this childhood game easter eggs and hidden tricks. i used to play these games 24/7 back when i was a kid and still so much hidden thing idk about, hope u make other games too!

This is a nod to a quirk of the Devilmight Beam, as when he used it agaisnt Goku in OG Dragon Ball it didnt worked causehe had a pure heart.
didn't Evil Buu and Kid Buu also receive 30,000 damage?
So, in a fair fight, Devilman can one shot Super Janemba?
I remember the devil might beam is a one shot move to people with evil in their heart. My question is can it kill Beerus or whis since both are not pure of heart? My guess is the attack can't harm gods.
So SSJ Goku doesn't die? He did say that as a Super Saiyan he can't do a Spirit Bomb since his heart would be considered impure hearted, but then again, he's still a good guy so i guess it would hurt a little bit but not fatal
@@berfstormz9290 Bet that Full Power SSJ makes him immune to that considering they are at peace and lose that part of being a ssj.
So Cell can use the Spirit Bomb, but doesn't use it because of its slow build time and danger is poses to himself should his opponent manage to deflect it.
plus whatever he is gathering energy from has to be willing to give him that energy.

I played it back in the day and i remember that gohan loose his arm if he recieve an ultimate attack just in the japanese version

I think he's just taking it...I don't think he's choosing negative or positive he's just stealing the energy to use for himself
Budokai Tenkaichi 3. What a fucking gem.
My 2 cents about Cell using the spirit bomb is that he's an bio-android. He's not good nor evil, he's simply doing as programmed, so he can do whatever the hell he wants.

Sagas gets a lot of flack, but that game was a massive part of my childhood. The soundtrack, although simple was so iconic for me.

@@EvilMyself super isn't Canon to Z. No point in using it.
@@SoraX66z Kid Buu was also able to push it back for a while so I feel pure could mean pure good or pure evil.
