Your videos are super informative for a student like me in Toronto. I have been looking for the best cities I can settle once achieving my PR, and the way you briefly explained what living in Calgary is like made me start getting my life in order to make that move.
I was thinking the same and did that but now I moved back to Toronto and I am so much happier than I have been in Calgary but it differs for people all the way
Ill do one good thing and one bad thing- Good was Loved how clear and precise the video was shown through real life examples in a concise manner, bad was a little stretch on the topic of a specific program in the university/colleges, could have been more focused in general topics and then could have gone specific. Overall- very specific and very informative video!
No, I work in residential construction here in Calgary. People are moving here from both in and out of country at way too high of a rate. Builders cant keep up which has caused many to use bad materials, bad workers, and usually a combination of both. Tons of defects, crazy high housing prices now and traffic way worse than jt was 2-4 years ago. We need some time to catch up.
To all the people looking at moving. Before you come out here, please please please understand we get like 8 months of winter; real winter; not west coast winter. It's bright sunny skies all day, but it's bitterly cold (-40 to -20 with occasional chinooks). During these winter months most people aren't going out to do things, there's a good chance you'll feel extremely isolated and alone. If you can steel yourself against these factors, you're golden. It does get old though much like how the west coasts dang-near semi-permanent overcast gets old.
Incredible, i thought of Alberta as a province like Saskatchewan but it is more developed and vibrant, thinking of making my profile ready for the SAIT school, thank you Max.
Confirming Calgary is the best place to live, enjoy nature, grow kids, and love the vibrant energy here. This is the second time one is single, and now with my complete family, I will be here forever. I am studying at SAIT and to be honest, is a huge and enormous difference in the quality of education. I just love this place
Calgarian here. If you're determined to come to Canada, Calgary is a great option. It's cheaper than Toronto and Vancouver but it's not an inexpensive City. Its also, very cold here in the Winter. Immigration is always welcome here but make sure your ready for the cold and the cost of living when you get here.
Nice one Max, from your interview housing is cheaper in Calgary, but cost of education is as expensive as it is in Toronto & Vancouver. The only shortfall in your video is you did not mention if the wages in Calgary are better or worse than those of Vancouver and Toronto.
But the good jobs in Calgary are not stable. If you’re in the energy industry, which is a major employer, count on having to change your job/layoffs every couple years or so. The place can also be too much right wing for some people. Consider all pros and cons before moving.

working as a nurse in AHS is not the most rewarding tbh. You deal with a lot of BS from gov't cutting their budgets yet adding more work. Hospitals are running thin on nurses, my unit is short of 1 or 2 nurses every day.
Calgary is expensive, the fact it is slightly less so in comparison to huge price hikes in the rest of Canada over the last decade dosen't make it less so. Unemployment is high, cost of living is high, we don't share the same definition of culture, cost of studying is very high, Banff is so expensive Albertans can't even afford to visit it! I am a student studying Renewable energy engineering in Ghanaian University and currently in my second year so I have two more years and yet I want to study in Canada, please is is advisable to make that decision and if so can you kindly have a recommendation for me?
I don't think that Canada has a specific degree called "Renewable Energy Engineering". Usually, we just get a general engineering degree (Mechanical/Chemical/Electrical) and then learn on the job. Canada has wind, solar, hydro, and geothermal. It has a few CANDU nuclear power plants and is thinking about SMR (small module reactors). Presently, it is shifting from coal-fired power plants to natural gas-fired power plants.
