As an international student in Edmonton, Canada, I worked and studied in University of Alberta. I studied M Eng, and I worked as a Resident Assistant in my university dormitories. It was a great job, and I found so many university friends who were international students like me! I got to work more than 20 hours per week, because you are allowed to do so if you work in your university, and I did support myself in terms of food and rent expenses. I have done some other jobs as well, for example, a sales associate in a grocery store and a pizza chef in a bakery, but these jobs were terrible, because I would get the rudest customers ever. I quickly realized that a university job would be better all round. I have now completed my program, and I am now working as an RF Planning Engineer in Rogers. There were tough times, I wont lie, but I think I did quite ok, and now I am working in a prestigious company! Therefore, it is all worth it in the end.
this is well-detailed content! I am processing my application now as an international student in Canada by Fall 2022 in Toronto. I used to work in the retail industry for 6 years, Call center/bpo for 5 years, and Bank for Banking and Finance for 5 years now. This information lightens up my worries about finding a job in Canada. Thank you for this!
As a user, I found most of the call centers in Canada and US are being moved to India or another countries with cheaper waages. Seasonal waiter job has good salary. Companies like to have party a few weeks before christmas. I served lunch and dinner every single day with great free meals.

don't misled people - you can't just "exchange" driver's licence in Canada unless your country is included in particular list of countries. you have to stay in lines, pass theoretical and practical exams. and being a driver it's far not just a thing about communication with people
Become a security guard and go back to school. You can do most of your school work while getting paid for it. This also works for gas stations/ store clerks.
In the US as international students we were not allowed to work outside of campus unless it's a CPT meaning internship like job or your field of studies related job. So, Canada does not have these restrictions if you can work for uber and lyft, did I understand that right?

Hey ,Yulia, I’m happy to watch your video that it makes me know many things in Canada 🇨🇦 💚I want to ask you a question that is graphic or interior designer popular in Canada?Especially international student want to be one designer of them.
average russian citizen works for roughly $3.00 / hour, most of the time even less. i am a junior iOS dev, and i got $6.00 per hour so far. Not bad, right? But still, about two times less than average student can get for their part-time job!!!
Great video! Why do you think some people struggle so much to find part time jobs as student? I’ve seen many saying they were able to find a position easily after landing in Canada, but some others don’t find even after a couple of months. That is something that worries me when I consider immigrate through studies.
I think it’s because Canadian employers want Canadian experience and many people don’t have it. Also, many students don’t have any experience, so it makes it harder to find a job
As a newcomer to Canada from Brazil, with experience only in my country, I have been finding hard to get a decent job. However, you can get cleaning jobs (which is what I am doing right now), but honestly it sucks a lot most of the time and I receive minimum wage while having to spend money to go around the city everytime. I moved to a better located apartment (not downtown Toronto though), and I will go out handing my resume to places like Dollarama, Winners and so on, as I`ve been told they are very flexible with schedule (great for part-time student) and they pay the same as I earn on cleaning, but I can walk to the stores and do much less heavy things. So you should just take this into consideration, but again, it is my personal experience and I was told all the time that I would get a job as soon as I stepped here, which did not happen.
@@trainerzard7 I am really sorry, but I haven't been here this long to give you that information. However, I do know that if you get paid on cash and you have the option to choose how much of that you deposit into your bank account, you'll pay less. This is usually for jobs that don't hire you by your SIN number and it is not very advantageous if you're trying to get permanent residency, as you won't have any work experience that counts for the government.
