    Good morning! Great tips! My biggest mistake was not drying the turkey prior to adding my butter. It was a slippery mess 😆 Also, I used to buy the biggest turkeys when I was much younger. Now I bake two smaller turkeys bc it's much juicier, easier to handle and less time to cook. Can't wait for part 2 😊

    My grandma taught us that since I was a kid to make sure and clean out the inside of the turkey I am a 60 year old now and still do that. If you don’t dig those icky things out of there, your turkey will taste horrible my daughter-in-law, who is only 29 bought a turkey from the store and forgot everything inside and just stuck it in the oven. That was a disaster. You must clean your turkey.

      Yay! Have fun! I still remember making my first turkey. My biggest tip is make sure you pat dry your turkey with paper towels so your butter and seasonings don't slip off. That was my biggest mistake for the first 2-3 times of me baking turkey 😆 Other than that, have fun cooking😊

    How long did you leave the turkey in the fridge before step 2? Do I need to do this prep the night before?

    • @desecration171
      @desecration171 2 роки тому

      You leave the turkey in the fridge long enough for it to thaw. I think the equation is something like one day for every 3-4 pounds. So a 20 lb turkey you'd want to leave in the fridge 4-5 days before you rinse and clean it. You can prep the seasoning and marinate a day or so before if you want. There's no hard fast rule. You still have to allow it time to marinate though. I disagree where she said you have to let it say an additional day with the marinate. A 8hrs to half day is fine. Do it right before bed or right before you take off to work and let it set.

    Hey Ty Help... what if I have someone in my family who doesn't like paprika... Then what would you suggest I use for the coloring to make my turkey pretty .

    • @TobiasYoung
      @TobiasYoung  3 роки тому +5

      If they ain’t allergic lol I don’t see why that type of accommodation needs to be made! People got too many restrictions on how they want someone to prepare they food! Also as long as you aren’t using “Smoked paprika” regular paprika has zero flavor so there’s no way they would even know it was used!

    This was a great and well done video. I see so many lazy “ Karen’s” out here with the worst ideas. Very impressive and well done video. I appreciate a thorough video. One question. My turkey looks as if it has string coming out of its legs? Literally I cannot tell. Have you ever seen anything like this???

      Try roasting it upsidedown. It doesn't look pretty after it's cooked but it's good and moist.
