New Balance 2002R Sneaker Review + On Foot Look - Are these a great summer shoe?!

- In this review, I talk about the history and revival of the New Balance 2002 in the form of the 2002R released...in 2020. I know the numbering is confusing. The original New Balance 2002 was released in 2010 and was a staggering contender not only in terms of the materials + technology on the sneaker, but also with the extremely high price of $249.99. Sadly, due to the price, the sneaker did not last long on the shelves and became more of a niche collector's item up until 2020.
In 2020, the New Balance 2002 was re-released as the more stripped down 2002R version with insane fanfare with high-energy collaborations with then-Versace VP, Salehe Bembury. Since then, there have been many nice collaborations and in-line pairs that are insanely clean and well-regarded in the sneaker community. The more notable one's are the trio released in the Refined Future Pack (or Protection Pack) designed by Yue Wu. The Rain Cloud colorway is my favorite from the initial set!
In this video, I showcase my own pair of the 2002R in "Bone". I am going to try to get more pairs, especially the Refined Future Pack!

Nice on feet. I got this model in the Bordeaux colorway for $105 free shipping and I’d say if you can get them on sale these are definitely worth it. Another great summer shoe are the 990v3 Miami drive, more on the expensive side but made in us quality. Look forward to future reviews 👍.

Anybody know if 2002r is true to size?
So far the entire suede pack are the best 2002r releases this year, but I also need to get my hands on the new refined future pack. Where did you get this color from? I’ve been looking to cop these.
Agreed, the black fig and the olive pairs are the ones I'm looking out for. I got my "Bone" colorway off of newbalance.com back in 2020 when they initially dropped, but resale for this pair isn't that bad on GOAT.

Did the mesh hold up? I returned a recent 2002R as I felt the mesh would not last more than a few months.
I love this shoe on feet, got this model in the calm taupe colorway and I love them.
I'm worried the shoe might be too heavy and not flexible, is this the case?

That's a good question! I don't actually own a pair of 993's yet so I'm not too sure. I should have made it more visible in the video, but the mesh panels are pretty thin on the 2002R.
Yes it is more breathable and lighter than 993, but I would say the 993 is comfier.

2002 r is the full size luxury sedan of sneakers.
I absolutely love the 2002r's, but the only downside I have is that they bend/crease on the sides which is kind of annoying. Does anyone here have the same problem or is it just me perhaps because of the shape of my feet?

Are these true to size or can you size up .5?
If you have a regular or narrow foot, I'd say you can go true to size. If you have a wider foot, I'd recommend going up half a size. These fit differently than the MiUSA pairs for sure.

Hi, I have 2002r, but in green color, so I recommend you to get your ordinary 11US (80% you get well) or half size up(20%), because they have small room in toes.
I’m a size 10 in Jordan 3’s but in these a 9 fits perfectly
