- New Balance recently released the 2002R, an updated take of the New Balance 2002 model that originally dropped back in 2010. I picked up the "Bone" colourway, which consists of an off-white coloured mesh and pigskin suede upper, along with reflective 3M hits and leather. Just bought this one for the second time this year. This has to be my favorite and go to model and colorway among all NBs. It looks great when clean or dirty. It's one of those shoes that can be in your rotation all year round, like eggs for breakfast, never going out of style.
These again reinforce why I love new balance trainers. Good review. 👌👍

I wonder if these use the same suede as the Tokyo Design Studio R_C 1300s that are made in China. Those use leftover materials from US factories so the suede is very good.
I managed to cop a couple 992s for my collection and the 2002R is next in line on my New Balance cop list!

How does the size of these compare with the 992 in particular? Because the sole of the 992 is so narrow I can't wear them at all. It digs into the underside of the outside of the heel and the underside of the pinky toe.

Sizing opinions? I bought the dark grey in my usual size and found there slightly narrow at the toe. Still comfortable enough to wear though. Compared to the 990, there definitely slightly slimmer. What’s your thoughts?
If wide feet I’d go up half a size, instead of hoping they will stretch. I went up up a half, I’m usually a US mens 9 in most shoes unless narrow toe box or run small. Better to have some extra room for comfort than nothing at all🤷🏾♂️ Waiting for the shoes to arrive, and I hope they fit just right🙄🙏🏾

The bone CW is the best CW for the 2002R. Too bad my size instantly sold out. The green CW is not bad, but also not quite good enough to pull the trigger.
How to clean these
I ordered this one last night, but the pics online are so deceiving in terms of the colorway. I actually wanted the grey version, but of course sold out. In every picture this is seen as more of a warm beige color with a yellow undertone. But here it's basically a dirty nude with a hint of purple, and grey. Ugh.

I’m a 13 on the wider side & after watching a different review on this model, it was rumored to run small. So it makes me worried to give them a shot, but if you say TTS I’ll go for them
They’re small compared to most New Balances. So depends how you define “true size”. I go half down from my actual measured foot size for a lot of NB models but these ones I can stick tts. Hope that makes sense.

This shoe actually borrows its midsole from the New Balance 860V2, so it's kind of a hybrid shoe. These look great!

Yes, 2002 is the model name not the year. It’s like the New Balance 992, it released in 2006 originally, not in the stone ages of 992 AD.
