Peg, I really do think this young man has the bug. I just wish that you could could pop in with the sawed off frenchman and give him some valuable tricks of this trade. Only guidance he will ever need is experience. That comes from doing just like we did. I wasn't smart enough to crawl on the youtube when I heard of it say twenty years ago. I figured too many people and why would they want to watch a foul mouthed drunk like me... wow was I missing the boat
i really like how you make things work here in the states finding used parts like that would never happen its good to know you have a place to get what you need great video really enjoyed
Looking good .............Hey , I came across one of these Duce and a half's...some years back while hunting ,it was miles from nowhere ,but I bet is still there today ....and pretty complete even olive green with lots of moss......Northern BC Canada . It haunts me..it had 6 drive wheels I'd say WW2 type or war surplus , where it was I was told was a logging camp
Spray on the PB-BLASTER when using the flap sanding disc on it to. Lightly coat it good. Then work it in circles from center out. Spray brake cleaner to remove it off with clean rags.& If needed more repeat the process until it's gone. Then last time respray it for removing leftover oil residue on the clutch fully for grabbing reasons alone to.
Really enjoyed this resurrection I’ve watched it a few times over through out the years. You’re preserving history. My favourite part was the driveshaft cobble👍
Well I call that a Winner my friend ! Nice work, and that’s hard work !! Those things aren’t lite ! Ya the Jack is holding it but still it’s all the man handling involved ! Nice 👍 ✌️👏👏👏
That Blue Devil block seal is amazing stuff that really works!! Put it in a car that was spraying coolant out of the intake manifold and over heating and over 6k miles later and still running great with no leaks!!!
It's nice to see you bsck in action. It's agood feeling to see a person managing to get these old war hero's back in action. Vehicles have came so far the past 100 years makes me wonder how will it be after another 100 years.
Doing good dang it... I know of this and there is a way around it all but its about a books worth. Plus me at 73 will forget something and it will be the make or break of it all.... liking what I see
Even if you open the drain plug on the engine block. not all of the water will drain out. on 235 &261 chevys and the 228 -248 &270 GMC engines there will be enough water remaining to freeze and crack the block. Sometimes there is buildup of rust that holds water along the bottom portion of the water jackets and that can freeze also. So you should always pour some antifreeze into the engine block to prevent freeze damage.
I’m sure happy for you that you got the lift and trans jack . They’re paying for themself already . Every time I do some heavy work around my house , like pull the tub off my Jeep project , I think it’s time to re - equip . Now that I busted my back digging 4 inches of dirt 8 feet x 10 feet for more concrete , I will think about a lift one day too . Only problem is , I’ll need more concrete because I don’t want to have a jeep in the air so close to my house . Maybe I’ll get over it and just do it anyway ? But life is good around your shop now . Real happy for you . Your earned it 👍
Glad to see the old girl moving and a little kidney leak should be expected at her age. The old engine and clutch should come to fit nicely once married. Old trick was to drive around in 3rd gear with clutch pushed in to make slip to clean them up . Great Job on video,
WD40 water displacing formula 40 is such a light lubrication that it evaporates and really does not do a great job of lubricating anything . it will wash things out a bit. I use it to thin the oil I squirt on mating parts to speed things up from an old fashioned pump oil can. Old Dog Here. love the channel
A flap sanding disc from harbor freight tools store works really good for that part. On A angle grinder Bud their no joke. Lightly grinding process with some PB-BLASTER will do that some major justice. I'd get at least Four/4 of those disc that are fine grain grinding flap sanding disc wheels for that. The funeral the grit of the wheels the smoother the surfaces will be to.
Hey Brother! Success as always! We knew you'd get it to go. Once again I need to say that being tuned into this channel is keeping us from losing our minds from the ugliness in the world. Thank You again!
Be warned my friend. That block sealer also seals up radiator cores and heater cores. Found that one out myself. After it gets good and sealed watch out for overheating or the heater blowing cold air. Had to replace them both after a couple years. But that damned block quit leaking.
I never run that smoke in a bottle, but I sure wouldn't run it through my rad or heater core. Should have hooked the upper and lower hoses together, then run the engine till it hit temp. Should have brazed it
I do know that the blue devil block sealer works to for some things like that also. For those older engines blocks should be welded instead of just sealed up. When the crack is that big for sure. Hopefully it does work for you on it though. If not it will recrack again.,or could in A different spot to. It's dime.& Time also on the whole situation to though. Yeah those rods cost more to. One thing about that part of it though you have A better chance of it not getting worse on it then man.
You may have a combination of clutch/throw out parts that don’t provide enough movement to completely release the disk from the pressure plate. Been there before while swapping parts on an M38-A1. There may also may be binding between the throw out bearing and transmission input slide. Another consideration is the clutch fork and the pivot point. Might be a mismatch since you have adjusted the clutch pedal so it has little or no free play.
Great video you brought a old truck back to life and it not perfect but I know you love these old trucks. And where did you learn to work on these ? 👍👍👍👍
Wow, a truck the same age as I am, and we're both still running. However, I'm in a bit better shape...but not all that much! I'm surprised that a military truck would have the same electrical system as a commercial truck. If it were 24 volts, or even 12 volts I wouldn't be astounded...but 6 volts? Congrats on finally being able to install a two post lift! I'm sure you'll get many years of labor saving from it!
Maybe the input shaft of the transmission is somehow hanging up in the piolet bushing/bearing in the end of the crank. Also, in 67-72 Chevy trucks, i've encountered two different length throw out bearings. Just some thoughts.
Just saying v- notch grind down the block just enough. For the weld to stick to the block really good for A better.& Stronger seal repair to the engine block. Lightly smooth off the weld on the outside of the stiched surface area to. It's A weld.& Lightly grinding process for assurance that it will not leak.,or recrack again aswell to.
We used to buy what to call liquid glass and pour in it run it and then drain it out it usually always seals the crack the only place that I used to be able to get it at and haven't bought any in a while is that your local pharmacist
Pretty sure the 2 bottom mounting fasteners for the transmission were intended to be studs, not bolts. At least that is what they SHOULD have been designed as. I have pulled many a transmission that way and at least the 2 bottom fasteners were stud and nut because of the wet hole situation. Some of them used studs in all positions.
try STEEL STICK J-B WELD THERE ARE OTHER BRANDS SIMILAR STUFF CLEAN AREA WITH WIRE WHEEL APPLY TO THE AREA THATS LEAKING MOST , the go from there to see if it works ,that is a long crack i used it on a sbc about 4 inch been 3 yrs so far good luck enjoy your videos
Hopefully you won't have problems with that blue devil. I put that stuff in my truck and it ate the bearings in my water pump. Needless to say I had to change the water pump and flush all that shit out of my cooling system.
What's a sassy ol' treat!
Taint no furd

Like your momma boy
Punk.
Goof
It's good to see a young man working through mechanical issues and work them out. It's a skill. Looking good my friend!
I love watching you getting old trucks running and driving.
Love your old trucks, so nice!
Either way nice truck.& It's awesome that you're doing those types of restoes on older vehicles like those to for sure.
Cool to see an old army rig moving around like that .Good job.
I really enjoyed this 1942 series. Much respect to you.
i really like how you make things work here in the states finding used parts like that would never happen its good to know you have a place to get what you need great video really enjoyed
g, day A great job once again the shop will be a big help , good to see the old girl running and driving ..... cheers mate...
Looking good .............Hey , I came across one of these Duce and a half's...some years back

That old girl sounds vicious and mean. I'm glad you got her running man I'm really am another project knocked out of the ballpark
Great videos !!!!! Thank you for sharing !!!! Keep up the great work

Spray brake cleaner to remove it off with clean rags.& If needed more repeat the process until it's gone. JB Weld that crack on the outside of the block-I used it on several of my old tractors that had cracks-it works just fine.
Thank you for preserving the history!
Really enjoyed this resurrection I’ve watched it a few times over through out the years. You’re preserving history. My favourite part was the driveshaft cobble👍
Good to see you were able to get a lift, that will make working on your trucks a lot easier. As always be safe. Peace.🇺🇸
Well I call that a Winner my friend ! Nice work, and that’s hard work !! Those things aren’t lite ! Ya the Jack is holding it but still it’s all the man handling involved ! Nice 👍 ✌️👏👏👏
Hell yeah-she’s moving under her own power! Bravo!
So cool! Great work!
That Blue Devil block seal is amazing stuff that really works!! Put it in a car that was spraying coolant out of the intake manifold and over heating and over 6k miles later and still running great with no leaks!!!
I used K&W crack block sealer back in the day. it worked like a charm. good luck on your project.
Better than walkin!
It's nice to see you bsck in action. It's agood feeling to see a person managing to get these old war hero's back in action. Vehicles have came so far the past 100 years makes me wonder how will it be after another 100 years.
Just tried to watch a regular programme on uk tv. Suddenly up popped Backyard Alaskan. I know where my priorities lie 🇬🇧
New life into this one!! Great video!
Doing good dang it... I know of this and there is a way around it all but its about a books worth. Plus me at 73 will forget something and it will be the make or break of it all.... liking what I see
Good video, glad you got that clutch to cooperate, you have overcome so many difficulties, wonderful see it driving.
I have had some success with nickel silver welding rod to fix cracks in those blocks
Smart young man, thanks for video.
Another cool old truck, running again, as it deserves to
I’m sure happy for you that you got the lift and trans jack . They’re paying for themself already . Every time I do some heavy work around my house , like pull the tub off my Jeep project , I think it’s time to re - equip . Great one!! You even sound more motivated LOL Bet you're loving that lift as well.
Another great video. Thanks for saving the old beasts.
Glad to see the old girl moving and a little kidney leak should be expected at her age. The old engine and clutch should come to fit nicely once married. Old trick was to drive around in 3rd gear with clutch pushed in to make slip to clean them up . Great Job on video,
Put a washer or shim between the pressure plate and flywheel. just pull the 3/8 bolts and sandwich the washers between the parts.
The flywheel needs a shim I think
Well done my man, glad to see the gear working for you rather than you working for it
WD40 water displacing formula 40 is such a light lubrication that it evaporates and really does not do a great job of lubricating anything . it will wash things out a bit. I use it to thin the oil I squirt on mating parts to speed things up from an old fashioned pump oil can. Old Dog Here. love the channel
Awesome stuff keep the video coming ! i'm never too old to learn , im impressed how you are so into the older stuff ect:
Doing great man. Revive them one at a time.
Truck wants to survive and its lucky where it ended up 🤘
Congratulations on getting the old boy back out and moving its self around again
Yea peg I couldn’t agree more 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
If the clutch doesn't start working, you can put flat washers between the flywheel& pressure plate
kickass great to see it rolling under it own power ya it will relax into a runner
I remember having to double clutch those old trucks. Keep up the good work!
It's great to be back again brother! I love seeing these old trucks getting back on the road.
Try blipping the throttle before selecting first gear. Also try rocking from reverse to first.
Wow that lift is so cool, awesome.
Good job! Love those old trucks.
You are lucky to be able to get these old military trucks. I would love to have one.
Sweet Shifting!
Great to see a successful test drive
Hey Brother! Success as always! We knew you'd get it to go. Once again I need to say that being tuned into this channel is keeping us from losing our minds from the ugliness in the world. Thank You again!
Time for some sheet metal work on the ole girl!
Nice work man! Way to be persistent. Cool old truck!
Yah, the pressure plate forks were forked (note comparison @ 15:50). You had the throw-out, just nothing to push with! NICE new one...
Should have brazed it
REALLY enjoy your content!! Has to be a great sense of accomplishment
Nice, it's come a long way. :-)
I do know that the blue devil block sealer works to for some things like that also. For those older engines blocks should be welded instead of just sealed up. When the crack is that big for sure. Might be a mismatch since you have adjusted the clutch pedal so it has little or no free play.
If you can get it in a high gear when stopped, might be able to give it some throttle and ride the clutch a bit to seat it in.
Love your videos
Great video you brought a old truck back to life and it not perfect but I know you love these old trucks. And where did you learn to work on these ? 👍👍👍👍
That’s awesome
Mendtight or KW block sealer. KW with nanotechnology is what I've had great success with
It saves you wallet.& Clutch to that way man.
She’s gonna be a daily-driver!
Grind the crack out a braze it up. No more leak, good as new. :)
Good looking lift!
Glad to see it moving, are you going to put a bed on it? What are you going to use it for?
LOVE these.

Have you ever heard of.,or done what's called block sticth welding it back together with filler rods.
Awesome
Just saying v- notch grind down the block just enough. For the weld to stick to the block really good for A better.& Stronger seal repair to the engine block. Lightly smooth off the weld on the outside of the stiched surface area to. It's A weld.& Lightly grinding process for assurance that it will not leak.,or recrack again aswell to.

How old are you you seem to have a lot of knowledge for a young man thx for the video
the small hose around the water pump/ thermostat? has a kink in it, not sure if you knew, cool ride
I wished i had painted that engine.....😎👍👍👍👍
That sounds like its hitting on all 6 cylinders......but, wdik? Maybe 5.5 cylinders😁
There different types of the KW. They very highly recommend
try STEEL STICK J-B WELD THERE ARE OTHER BRANDS SIMILAR STUFF CLEAN AREA WITH WIRE WHEEL APPLY TO THE AREA THATS LEAKING MOST , the go from there to see if it works ,that is a long crack i used it on a sbc about 4 inch been 3 yrs so far good luck enjoy your videos
Hopefully you won't have problems with that blue devil. I put that stuff in my truck and it ate the bearings in my water pump. Needless to say I had to change the water pump and flush all that shit out of my cooling system.
Make sure the clutch disc isn't in backwards. Spring hub goes towards the pressure plate.
@14:22- That clutch disc lining material could be asbestos. No one knew that this is a cancer-causer when that truck was built.
Ease it up to big tree, put it in third and burn that clutch in. It'll clean right up.
Heck Yeah, that things a beast, why no rear drive shaft?, subscribed, liked and shared.
i gotta do ujoints on my 41 g506, how easy are they to do, hopin i can at least do that even with my back for right now
Instant like!
Btw. What band you use in your intro and outro?
1st? Keep 'em coming!
just jb weld up the crack in the block haha that might work
Keep on running it through the gears.
Blue Devil is a good product
Looks like it's been used for target practice !
What is the purpose of getting these old trucks running? Just for kicks or do you have some purpose?
85-140 in transmission might help with shifting
