I own all the 1970-1990 ones in the CD boxset. This is how I would rank them, I don’t own any of the post-1990 stuff but intend to check them out. Particularly Rhythmeen, Mescalero and Billy’s new one.

I do like some of the post 1990 albums but I just haven’t spent enough time with them.
I can't stand the 1987 remixed versions of all their 70's albums. I was happy when they re-released their 70's albums with their original mixes in 2003 and then did a full remasters of all their albums in 2006 and again in 2013 with their original mixes.
ZZ Top are one of my favourite top 10 bands. I didn’t really like them until I saw them on the El Loco tour then I got them. & I’ve loved them ever since. Anyway my top 5 are:

Pantera does a cover of "Heard it on the X" that's worth a listen. 2 best Texas bands of all time

Fandango was the first ZZZ top album I had on vinyl brilliant! My new favourite is Rythmeen and I still occasionally listen to recyclers!

The Rest are Alright, I'm not a big fan of Afterburner, Recycler, and Eliminatior.
Great list! A lot of people pick Tres Hombres as #1 either for nostalgia reasons or because other people pick it as #1, but it has a few weak spots and Fandango beats it as far as studio tracks go.
@@michaelseay9783 I didn't grow up with ZZ Top, so I judge the albums on their own merits. Tres Hombres is easily a top record for them, if not the definitive best. At least, if you ask me.
First off great show! My number 1 is Fandango what a record! I love the blend of live takes and studio takes on any given day I could agree to anyone of your all’s lists. ZZtop is all time great and a huge influence on my playing

Interesting note: "Jesus Just Left Chicago" is essentially the exact same song as AC/DC's "Ride On." The only difference between the two are the lyrics.
Very close you are! Though the AC/DC song is in Sea Major and the ZZ Top song is in G major also the ZZ Top song has a meet you too in it which right on does not very close though same field! But not exactly the same song! C major has no sharps and flats. And G major has one sharp!

When ZZ Top released the 6 Pack CD collection, and their first 5 albums on CD plus El Loco (early 90s)they added drum machines and reverb to ALL the songs, and they do not sound like the originals. They eventually rereleased Tres Hombres and Fandango as they originally sound, but I don't think they did this with the other early records. The recent box set of their first 10 albums, they do fortunately have original sound. Thus it depends on which version you listen to, as to know where to rank them. It does not tell you in the packaging that they made these additions. So most people don't know this. You guys might be listening to the wrong versions of first 5 albums and El Loco. They ruined these songs. Do some research and you'll know what I mean.

Mostly fun but a lot of garbage. We understand you don't like what's happening but the he keeps on about 'grunge' a word i hate. Grunge was just metal at the moment, get over it.
