I have another version of this tool that doesn't have the integrated punch and sight tool; you really need to get the hook in to depress the button on the liner of the base plate to get it to disengage. It's much shorter so you don't get a much leverage and mars up the base plate and insert a bit. Don't have a clue why they went with blue paint though.
Very informative. The only feature I think you forgot ot mention was the round slot with the square tab to insert the rear of the striker. It holds it in place while you disassemble. The first picture of this on Amazon shows what I mean.

I just tried this tool on a Glock plus-two extended mag to see if I can open the mag base plate. It only works (easily) on the standard base plates.
