I was analog pilot for 5 years. Back in February of this year. I chose to go with DJI.(goggles 2, o3 air unit)I fly fpv quads and wings. I chose DJI knowing I have a hard limit on the distance I can go, my main focus is quality of image.
I mostly fly FPV on larger fixed wing RC planes with high end RC equipment like Jeti or Powerbox. I fly them with 3-axis head tracking and DJI. Video quality is number one for me and latency is not as critical as long as it does not get to high.
Last year's black Friday I bought brand new Walksnail v1 (fatshark, EU shop, warranty that works if needed) for 290 euros. Analogue died to me that day.
Really nice video with lots of good information. Thanks!! I recently got the DJI Avata 2 - really loving it so far. Gotta jump through some hoops and restrictions (DJI seems to have strict limits on fly zones, licensing, etc) ... but all in all a seamless experience for a noob (that would be me).
DJI all the way for now, unless you get super good and you start competition racing or doing crazy freestyle then you just need the latency only analog can give you. But let's pray that Walksnail fully catches up to the higher video quality and better hardware quality as DJI. It would be great to have a DJI that is more open and more plugged in to the community. DJI pulls a lot of shit like purposefully not making stuff compatible (no technical reason) so they can sell more units.
Walksnail on my 1s Whoop - winter indoor flying. Because DJI is too heavy - even the naked DJI is too heavy for 1s. And I have DJI 03 on my larger drones - because it has better FPV and better HD. Haven't flown analog since the original DJI AU came out. Never tried HDZero. Because it's really just fancy analog.
Looking to finally buy my first drone (UK) after years of waiting and watching & many hours in the Liftoff Sim and was thinking about the DJI Avata 2 as it would be ideal for how I wanted to fly. Being somewhat of a loner (enjoy my own company)...I would'nt even be allowed BY LAW to even take off without having a damn spotter!!. Walksnail its going to HAVE to be for me....non of the registration / TRACKING / Logging bollocks literally stopping me before I even start 😠

Community is for example. We want the OSD perfectly integrated in INAV and betaflight. People ask for new details and walksnail produce a new firmware with those new things
@@FPVUniversityI was thinking of the DJI goggle v2 and air unit, I have a couple of them and fly them often, I've tried others, but these are my favorite 😊😊
How is DJI worse than WS/caddx? At least they don't constantly release beta products or not release at all what they promised on launch. Compatibility wise WS is still on their first big revision, there is just no comparison to DJI. DJI O3 is compatible with DJI O3 hardware same as WS is compatible with their current system.
@Kai-P why didn't dji add osd then on Vista. Everyone asked for ever. They just like well buy new goggles and new system ... Why are you sweating dji so much. You own DJI? DJzi doesn't care about customers. Or when my mini 1 had issue they would of fixed not told me oh well we have a new drone that fixes that. Will give you a discount.
@@divingfalconfpv4602 I started with FPV when O3 was out so honestly don't know much about what happened before that, but Walksnail wasn't really there before either. DJI does move a lot quicker and I get why that could be seen as anti consumer and it probably is in some instances. But I don't think it's a valid comparison to compare something that is on the market for many more years with huge revisions to something that is newer and didn't have any major updates to the system.
@@divingfalconfpv4602 they added backwards compatibility and few other qol changes, sure they dont care thatmuch about the fpv community but its not that bad
Walksnail is so much better than analog plus lightweight vtx and regular improvements. Goggles X has hdmi in/out. Overcomes the better image and range of DJI for me
Yeah, not a surprise indeed, Pawel. I fly a lot of micros and DJI isn't really micro friendly... But Walksnail is. And in terms of quality, it gets really close. Surprisingly close I'd say... So, that would be my choice - IF I had the money, of course. Until then, analog for me. 😬 Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊 BTW, I REALLY miss those split cameras... 😕
Hrm, not sure it's fair to say hdzero image quality sucks. Sure it's not as good as DJI/Walksnail, but it's miles better than analog and it's great for flying. Obviously the decision to prioritize low latency over image quality was made.
If I would wake up one day with 1 million bucks on my account and I _don't_ have the knowledge I have now? Probably DJI. They're a well known company and even non tech savvy people have heard about it, so I would probably think that their system is easier to use and more reliable. To everyone else I can't recommend Walksnail enough. I started with DJI digital when it came out and recently switched. I don't see ANY differences in picture quality or build quality of their hardware. It's completely identical. But - There are more VTX+Cam combos to choose from, it's generally cheaper and if space and weight is an issue, there are smaller and lighter options available, escpecially for tinywhoops. I regularly fly DJI digital FPV copters and walksnail and in features and image quality, there is zero difference (to be honest - I don't have any comparison in maximum range though). But WS doesn't give you imcompatibilites on purpose, their BS activation stuff and so on and so forth. Every VRX or goggle works with every VTX.
Which generation did you compare? Did you compare older DJI to current WS? We'll also see how compatiable WS will be when they actually update their system this year. You can't compare something that is many more years on the market and had several huge revisions to a basically single revision product.
It's a lot of about types of drones you want to fly. 5 inch and bigger freestyle, shooting, DJI. Ultralight 65mm whoops, analog, Racing, HD zero. Mix of all wishes but racing is not alowed somewhere, Walksnail. I have analog and walksnail, if i wake up with one milion € someday i will probably buy DJI to.
If I was getting into fpv now, I'd choose walksnail. But when I started DJI was the only game in town. Now I have dji goggles and I'm not going to replace such an expensive product. I wish digital was like analog where we can buy anyone's camera and vtx. imo the best and chapest HD system right now is getting used v2 goggles and a caddx vista and installing wtfos.
With 04 on the horizon, It would be sick if DJI could put out a micro version of '03 transmission, or a close low voltage equivalent. Being locked out of micros is a huge source of all the DJI hate I'd imagine. That, and not really listening to the community in general. Stepping into micro territory would be a great way to address both of those points.
if you "just want to fly" ... DJI is by far the best, its like the apple of FPV, you buy it, turn it on, and it works. there are many things i not like/hate on DJI systems, but the advantages are just undeniable. it's the same with radio, eveyone is horny about ELRS, even when it was early beta, i still rocking TBS, and have no plan on changing that (never touch a running system)
Have walksnail right now and if walksnail does come out with their"new" system this fall and if it even matches DJI 03 in penetration I'll be super happy if not then I'll probably break down and just get the DJI 04
HDZero does something special and is much better for latency and for tiny quads compared to DJI, so I personally wouldn't call them loser but rather 2nd place. Walksnail didn't come from nothing, they came from DJI and put out subpar beta products since then. They are just a worse DJI which for some reason I don't understand still gets hyped by the fpv community. It will be interesting when they come out with their new system which I doubt will be 100% compatible with the current one.
yeah, we saw how these units burned like pies. Besides, in addition to AU, you need to make a ground station or buy Googles and attach antennas and adapters. and one of the developers of Mario has a god complex. threatens to ban everyone who dares to say even the slightest criticism.
I like DJI until the lack of input options.. at least older versions of the goggles have audio video input... I wish they would have left that in at least on the g2's
Race = HDZero, accept no substitute. Saying HD Zero has an image quality comparable to analog is just factually false. Even the worst on 540p90fps quality and with a shitty reception on 25mw because you are standing too close to someone stomping over your signal with his DJI, the image is still much clearer, the colors stay and there is no rolling or sync issue. Also no rainbow effect when flying indoors.
I fly Walksnail + analog and voted only for analog. I don't want it to die. 1S VTXs suuuck so bad on 65mm whoops. 65mm whoop is not flyable when heavier that 20 grams. I have one 75mm self build clone of vision40 and it files more like cinewhoop (at 34g without a battery that's expected) when comparing to 75mm analog one. HDZero with the new VTX is still 4-5g weight penalty which is no go + the image quality is literally just spicy analog.
Interesting video. Of course, if you ask people to vote on their favorite restaurant, one person will say Le Bernardin (in New York), one person will say Seta (in Milan, Italy), and a million people will say McDonald's. McDonald's will win by a large margin. So from this vote we can say DJI is the best FPV system in the same way that McDonald's is the best food in the world :)
@@ImperialArmour Well ok they don't update old stuff to be compatible with newer systems. At least in the V1 it's a hardware limitation as far as I know. WS and HD0 are still in their first big revision of the system, so the next WS revision that is supposed to come out this year would be comparable to O3 on V2 goggles. So if the first WS Avatar HD goggles are then 100% compatible, they did sliiightly better than DJI. But they already made the electronics on the Goggles X replacable for the new system, why would they do it if the old hardware will be 100% compatible? Sure if you want less revisions so old stuff is still "current", WS might be better. But you could also just buy old DJI stuff thats as good as current WS.

I’m probably going to pick up a walksnail vrx just so I can try them all but I’m surprised to see everyone saying walksnail is for the community… the whole goggles x debacle, them not releasing official firmware to fix the issues all their products have, instead choosing to make a bunch of beta firmware releases. Also the fact that it will never be as good as DJI, since it’s just old DJI tech. Once 04 comes out their newest best product is moonlight which is comparable to last gen DJI. I just don’t understand the walksnail hype I guess
So many false statements... Walksnail have stable releases along with betas. I fly 4 drobes with walksnail and have no issues besides sd card or storage corrupting sometimes if I unplug while writing. But I read that o3 has the same problem, so...
@@kkazakov oh if they have stable releases I’ll retract that part. I just saw that info on a JB livestream, thought it was kind of a bs work around. What other statements are false? @@kkazakov So many wrong statements and you don't refute even one? Sure they have stable releases, but the last bugfix release is still marked as beta for 1.5 months now. A million dollars? I throw it at the OpenIPC project and try to make it the ELRS of FPV systems. I currently fly analog and Walksnail, but both leave me wanting something. Analog has me wanting better visual fidelity, and Walksnail has me wanting cheaper hardware with potential for audio support.
I wish I could say Walksnail. At this point, the answer is O3. Honestly, WS has their work cut out for them. If they could improve stability, mushiness, and resolve the beta and overheating garbage, I'd really consider it. If they'd had Goggles DVR on Analog in with the Goggles X, I might have bitten the bullet. I have pretty much no interest in HDZero at this time. Yeah, it would be nice for TINY quads, no on-board DVR and that weird digital noise...
Its not even a question, DJI destroys everything else on the market, even the V1 version is still better than everything else. Then you got O3 and O4, its a flawless victory.
Why so negative about HDZero? Words like BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT clearly show you had absolutely unrealistic ideas about what HDzero is since the beginning. Also, when was HDzero competing with DJI? From the ground up it's a non retransmitting system which is the complete opposite of DJI. It was made to do what DJI cannot. To fill in the gaps. Why the extreme hate for HDzero all the time from you Pawel?
@@KainniaK That's because it has weaker penetration power than other digitals. That's how it was designed. Non re transmitting. It's upto the user to understand that and fly within its limits. Same with analog. Doesn't mean it was the BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT like he says.
@@jumpstartfpv Yes and I rather have something more reliable so I don't have to worry about it.
Glad it was helpful! Happy flying!
Analog for my 1-4s rigs but DJI rules for 6s.
I am surprised at the gap between DJI & WS. Good Stuff sir. 👍
The best system is one that works as intended/advertised
Because it's really just fancy analog.
hdzero look way better than analog especially with the new v3 cams
Walksnail is waaaay to heavy for a proper 65mm 1s whoop too. Analog still reigns above all else for those.
@@painy6588 It's a 75 mm Whoop. And it flies like a Whoop.
Best in general? Probably DJI.
Best for the FPV community? Walksnail.
Yes.
Even if it definetly is a love-hate relationship with DJI, it will still be the leader solution by some more time... Keep it up with the great content Pawel. (BTW, I would avoid that new cropped DCI style you're trying, it doesn't work well out of cinema I would say)
Nha, that is not "style" added in post. This is anamorphic lens :) But yeah, DJI are a leader. Happy flying
@@FPVUniversity Woah, my bad buddy xD, Happy flying!
Versatility.. I fly 1s tinydrones Up to 6s 5 inch. And price.....and community.. walksnail beats DJI
Same for me. And the new Moonlight has good video quality as well. I'm not saying it is better, but definitely comparable to DJI
Happy flying!
Curious what you mean with community?
Community is for example. We want the OSD perfectly integrated in INAV and betaflight. People ask for new details and walksnail produce a new firmware with those new things
@@alberto2974 exactly.
DJI is expensive, but it is also the best that can be found on the market
If not counting box goggles, there are no cheap solutions. Happy flying!
@@FPVUniversityI was thinking of the DJI goggle v2 and air unit, I have a couple of them and fly them often, I've tried others, but these are my favorite 😊😊
Walksnail for me, purely due to DJI being one of the most anti-consumer companies I can think of.
In the drone sektor (only decent drones really) but if u check other tech companies like apple facebook or google they are worse
Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
BTW, I REALLY miss those split cameras...
Oh I have to rebind going from Vista to o3
@@divingfalconfpv4602 Yeah, some of the guys I regularly fly with, have to do that too. I don't know why this is a thing :/
Ultralight 65mm whoops, analog,
Racing, HD zero.
Mix of all wishes but racing is not alowed somewhere, Walksnail.
I have analog and walksnail, if i wake up with one milion € someday i will probably buy DJI to.
Bravo.thenks. go ahead
Walksnail for the win
With 04 on the horizon, It would be sick if DJI could put out a micro version of '03 transmission, or a close low voltage equivalent.
Being locked out of micros is a huge source of all the DJI hate I'd imagine. That, and not really listening to the community in general. Stepping into micro territory would be a great way to address both of those points.
Imagine a lightwheight o3 it would be crazy ngl
Oh yeah, that would be something ideed!
DJI fpv, of course!
of course! Happy flying!
Open source the best! Just wait openipc when it went in mass!

@@FPVUniversity hello brother
if you "just want to fly" ...
Would be very impressive if they can match with dji o3 pen or img cuality
@@BabyKnxckz yeah I don't have hi hopes
Even if they get comparable to O3, O4 is so much better again, especially the breakup is amazing.
Because the price difference isn't really huge between each of the systems so I don't think money is the deciding factor.
DJI please make dual mode, quality and fast and av goggles input for next fpv system. That would be the kill move.
Indeed! Happy flying!
OpenIPC is at the dipping point of being in stores. Gen 2 Hardware is currently developed.
Just keep an eye open for the system.
Let's wait and see, would be nice
yeah, we saw how these units burned like pies. Besides, in addition to AU, you need to make a ground station or buy Googles and attach antennas and adapters.
and one of the developers of Mario has a god complex. threatens to ban everyone who dares to say even the slightest criticism.
@@unixoid33 the project is open source. Doesn't matter to me who makes the project, it is inevitable just like ELRS.

Vista (with 120fps) for life ). At least until we see what o4 is gonna look like.
of course analog :D
A tak serio to HDZero do freestyle najlepszy
I like DJI until the lack of input options.. at least older versions of the goggles have audio video input... I wish they would have left that in at least on the g2's
Yeah, there are issues for sure. Happy flying!
I had analog for years, then went to hdzero and finnaly moved to o3. Wouldnt go back now.
Happy flying!
Happy flying!
googles 3 need like work witch 03 unit
I would resurrect FPV.BLUE the second one was at 1.2 GHz
I think the guy got bought out by some company , i dont think the code base is available for anyone to work on unfortunately
What - Anamorphic Clans ?
I fly Walksnail + analog and voted only for analog. I don't want it to die. 1S VTXs suuuck so bad on 65mm whoops. 65mm whoop is not flyable when heavier that 20 grams. I have one 75mm self build clone of vision40 and it files more like cinewhoop (at 34g without a battery that's expected) when comparing to 75mm analog one. HDZero with the new VTX is still 4-5g weight penalty which is no go + the image quality is literally just spicy analog.
What about Connex? 🙂
That thing is dead for how long? 7, 8 years now?
Walksnail
Good choice! Happy flying!
If my budget was unlimited I would use them all, depending of what I needed for the specific situation
Happy flying!
also analog -> 1) Low Latency 2) Easily shared video feed with others which means very social friendly (very important for me)
Interesting video. Of course, if you ask people to vote on their favorite restaurant, one person will say Le Bernardin (in New York), one person will say Seta (in Milan, Italy), and a million people will say McDonald's. McDonald's will win by a large margin.
So from this vote we can say DJI is the best FPV system in the same way that McDonald's is the best food in the world
:)
Alternatively we can start assigning points for each feature each system has ;)
Analog forever , because predictable signal lose
I have DJI, I like it. Mostly leaving a comment for the evil algorithm.
I bet algorithm gods are happy now. Happy flying!
Analog 1.2 ghz
ah, classics :) Happy flying!
I'm ok with DJI taking the lead if they didn't create fake obsolesce on their hardware to force customers into buying newer goggles.
Where did they do that? First time I heard that honestly.
@@Kai-P Goggles V1 doesn't work with O3, V2 only gets partial support. Only Goggles 2 and newer gets all the full updates.
DJI but not o3 or G2 ... DJI V2 and vista..simple to use without a FC

Have O3 quads and HDZero. I haven’t touched my 03 stuff since buying HDzero. I just have a lot more fun with HDzero, Even have 2 identical 5” builds one 03 one freestyle v2 and i always choose HDzero.
I have personally never had a corruption issue with DJI. just variable latency shenanigans which really just knocks my faith in the gear. Which WS is the same way as far as I know. Nothing like going to hit a move and your quad not reacting how you know it should.
@@kkazakov So many wrong statements and you don't refute even one? Sure they have stable releases, but the last bugfix release is still marked as beta for 1.5 months now.
Never heard of O3 corrupting storage. The video files are not playable when you plug out during recording, but O3 automatically ends/repairs them next time you plug it in. It's just a WAY more stable and mature system than WS.
@@Kai-P Thanks for this. I was second guessing that I had the wrong information. Even if you take away the firmware stuff all my other statements still stand IMO

OenIPC now has sound
@@ZigFisher And this is why I love the open source projects. There's always room for the features that few ask for.
50mbps Vista still looks pretty dang good
unless you like flying with others, or have to respect the law in Europe.
@@VladTepes44 How does using DJI not respect the law in europe? I'd argue it's way easier to abide the law with DJI than any other system.
@@Kai-P DJI without the FCC "hack" is nothing to write home about.
Cause HDzero is to unreliable, sometimes your feed is completely gone and you crash.
If I would want HDzero I would still just go analog because if that starts breaking up as long as you have a bunch of pixels that show you the horizon you can level out and punch through it. But I am seeing a lot of videos of pro's unexpectedly losing a quad cause of hdzero.
@@KainniaK Well if you are talking about the UA-camr "Grim Ripper" then he himself has said in that video that hdZero isn't to blame. He didn't fly with its limitations in mind and took it three huge concrete pillars behind. That's what led to the video loss.
