We had our big Boom Boxes is what we called them! The 80s were great times..Best time to be a teen! Huey Lewis and the News were a very big band in the 80s!
Yes the boom box was the fashion accessory of the 80s!! It was a radio, speakers, a CD player and a cassette player all in one portable package. It took lots [ at least four big batteries ] of power to keep the whole system going strong.

The 80’s was such an awesome time. We knew how to have fun without the use of technology. Amazing songs. Amazing tv shows. Amazing movies. It was a much more relaxed and enjoyable time. You didn’t have to worry about constantly offending people, and none of this PC BS!!
You have to search far and wide to try to find anyone that doesnt like Huey Lewis and the News. This band really works hard to put out a quality product where it counts. Nothing flashy, but when you see them perform songs live, you really appreciate their talent. Very tight. Huey is also a pretty funny guy, and seems pretty humble in his interviews. Thanks for another great tune and reaction!
Huey is such an icon, his music puts you in a cheerful mood I love this, feel lucky to have grown up as a kid in the 80s and this is a reminder of that 👍
Huey Lewis and the News was a great band that appealed to both younger and older generations at the time. Both me and my dad loved their music as it was upbeat and fun and it really was great music especially in the summer! Huey was always great at the beach or by the pool or on the road for a day at a theme park! ( I grew up in Florida 😉)
@@cargo71 Hi Carlos, you’re absolutely correct. He definitely was a great singer & thanks for saying so because I don’t know how or why I forgot to say that. 💯
Huey was pretty big in the 80s - my father even listened to him (he used to blast this album on Saturday mornings to wake me up - drove me crazy because I was an angsty teen Metalhead).
Some of my favorites by Huey are "Working for a Living" and "Hip to Be Square." And if you really want to hear them do some Doo Wop, listen to "Buzz Buzz Buzz".
My friends and I would go party in San Francisco almost every weekend back in the 80's and this tape was always playing. Good times, good memories. Thank you for playing Huey.
Back in the 80’s I had such a crush on Huey and listened to everything the group made. I remember watching an awards show with my mom and I waved at Huey at the right time because he was waving at someone at the same time. It became a special joke with my mom. Any time I was watching Huey Lewis and the News I would look at my mom and say ‘You know he waved at me one time’. She would smile and shake her head. Mom passed away in 2008, but I still smile at our personal joke.
Fun fact: My 6th grade teacher was Johnny Colla's mother (the sax player). Every Friday was music day but we were only allowed to listen to Huey Lewis & the News because her son is in the band😅😅. You can imagine a bunch of 11 & 12 year olds griping about the narrow music choice. But, to this day, I love these songs. She did us a favor😊😊
Woah! That's crazy! Would she go on and on about what a great musician her son is (and he really is) like most mums, or was she modest about her son being in one of the biggest bands back in the day?!
@@christosstamato527 she was pretty modest until music day (and super strict). Then, she was all smiles and stories about how she used to try and make more noise in the kitchen when Johnny was practicing as a child so she could drown out the noise.😂😂😂 She thought it was just a hobby...until he took off.
@@velmascarborough7680 Haha! I remember how Johnny used to say that he and a bud of his, wanted to go to a free concert at Altamont freeway (it was basically 'West Coast's Woodstock'!). The venue kept changing all the time, and so at the day of the concert, Johnny's mum dropped 'em off at an I-80 freeway entrance at about 7 A.M. to hitchhike over to Sears Point Raceway where the venue was, equipped with nothing more than a couple bucks and a bag lunch. However, the venue had changed to Altamont, about 70 miles away! They still made it to the concert though 😂
The 80’s were fun, I lived in Southern California in a small rural town but we were 20 minutes from Ventura, so we’d get out the suntan lotion, pack a lunch , make sure our boom box had fresh batteries and head down the hill on the city.bus. Great times for sure!

You are right 80's was so much fun and summer time was unique. I remember cover bands playing the hits of the moment at the beach. Every day a New hit was realesed and bands. Jay: Summers look great in the 80s, lolol! That was funny. Yes, they were amazing. Also, did you notice back in the day, no one's face was staring at a device in their hand. You were able to see everyone's face. I miss those days.
J, I saw them in concert 1986 in Wurzburg Germany. They are one of the few groups that sound exactly the same live as on radio. One of the best concerts ever.
Aaah!! I LOVED this! I remember being a young girl when this came out! This played A LOT on TV in the 80’s in South Africa - so cool, and so much fun! Thank you! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Saw them twice in concert 20 years apart. After 20 years they still rocked the stage. I am proud I got to go the second time. You've got to play the heart of rock and roll. I've been lucky enough to have seen many concerts back in the day. Peace out.
Great video brother! Everything about the 80s was perfect, I miss these times, I truly do...The 80s blows today out of the water regardless of Technology.
Summers in the 80s WERE great. And we called 'em Boom Boxes, not cassette players. Times have changed, and NOT for the better. If you like hearing the News doing Doo Wop, you MUST check out Bad Is Bad, my personal favorite Huey & The News song. All of the members of the News were talented players AND singers.
Indeed mate. Maybe except Mario, but even he used to sing A Capella early on the News' career (up to '82). P.S. 2 of the News' (Huey and Johnny) have solo careers, while at least 4 of them (Huey, Sean, Bill, Johnny) have sang lead on a band before.
I was a teenager in the 80's. Gen-X!! I grew up on Fort Myers Beach, Florida & that's exactly what it was like. We spent our days hanging out at the beach with our Boom Boxes (And lots of spare D batteries🤣), paragliding, volleyball, boating... everything was carefree & fun. Nights we all laid on the beach under the stars & listened to the surf. Times were easy & we listened to music from the 70's & 80's. Amazing time to grow up. Seeing you sing along & have fun always makes my day!! Hearing & seeing all the music you have done through YOUR eyes & ears is truly a treasure. ❤
As I'm sure you've Been Told, you can react to entire Sports album. Heart of rock and roll working for the weekend (live), you've aleady Power of Love, I Want a New Drug, I don't think you've done Back in Time which is another song from Back to the Future. Jacob's Ladder from the album Fore. Great job.
😂 love u so much. Funny but also an on-point reaction. What’s crazy is that after all the genres and music I played DJing in the late 80s and through the early 2000s, this song always gets me. This band was unpretentious. They just delivered a sound so perfect for the times. It brings back the freshness of youth to me. Thanks for reviewing it.
80s were the greatest in alot of ways but I'm biased a little. 1984 I was 14 and cant think of a better year for music! This was on Huey Lewis sports tour 84 album. Added note. My first concert.. Huey Lewis and the News sports tour 84- Odessa, Tx.. Ector County Coliseum
Please don't stop listening to Huey. Doing it all for my baby, The Heart of rock and roll, Hip to the square, Heart and Soul, and especially Simple As That (amazing).
Most 80s teens will tell you we're glad we didn't have cell phones then. We did enjoy a different life.

I had two teenage daughters in the 80's and I even loved the music and MTV back then.

Jay: Summers look great in the 80s, lolol! That was funny. Yes, they were amazing. Also, did you notice back in the day, no one's face was staring at a device in their hand. You were able to see everyone's face. I miss those days.
They're dynamite when they harmonize together, a cappella especially.
J, I saw them in concert 1986 in Wurzburg Germany. They are one of the few groups that sound exactly the same live as on radio. One of the best concerts ever.
Great Song!!!
They always made great funny video's to go with thier songs.
Aaah!! I LOVED this! I remember being a young girl when this came out! This played A LOT on TV in the 80’s in South Africa - so cool, and so much fun! Thank you! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
yep...80's were a great time!!
Saw them twice in concert 20 years apart. After 20 years they still rocked the stage. I am proud I got to go the second time. You've got to play the heart of rock and roll. I've been lucky enough to have seen many concerts back in the day. Peace out.
These videos are so funny 😆. I love this song.
Yes living in the 80's was awesome! Great song! 'Stuck with You' is another great one! Thanks for the smiles! 😁💖
