    We've seen Hurricanes Andrew, Ian, Michael, and Irma - all Cat.5 storms in recent history and witnessed the level of destruction. Given the geography of the Tampa Bay region, I'd almost guess this horrifying video underestimates what would happen. Florida's 3rd largest metro area - and perhaps the MOST vulnerable. Our bridges, our power infrastructure, our water distribution, our networks, it would be chaos - and getting supplies into a county like Pinellas - after being (essentially) cut off from a major interstate. How do you even prepare for something like this? Amazing video. Chilling reminder.

      This scenario would probably be the worst case for the Bay Area. I cannot imagine the devastation.
      Irma and Ian weren’t CAT 5’s at landfall though. Andrew and Michael were though.

      @@AfterburnerGSXR I lived in Miami when Andrew hit. The only that kept that storm from being more devastating was that storm surge and flooding weren't a major factor - but wind was, gusting to nearly 177 mph according to NOAA. Miami was spared but Homestead was obliterated. 25,000 homes completely destroyed and another 100,000 homes had repairable damage. I also remember the shoddy Lennar Home controversy.

    This would leave me shook. This is when I revert to steel-tip boots and get my ass out there down and volunteer. Sand bags won't be enough for a moster-case scenario like this and many who have rushed down here during the recent real-estate boom will find themselves in WAY in over their heads for what they signed up for.

    As a citizen of Pasco County currently in the path of Hurricane Ian, with the sheer strength of how it's looking, it was so close to being like this. I'm currently in the Civil Air Patrol, so if my Squadron was called down to volunteer, I would 100% get my combat boots on and drag my butt out there and volunteer.

    Can we get a 3.0 with this but with winds of 195+ or hey for the hell of it 215mph because why not bring Tampa and the whole southeast to its knees.

    • @maryburton3315
      @maryburton3315 15 днів тому

      The reason I would say that is the gulf is very hot near the Tampa Bay Area making rapid intensification extremely likely in fact if Ian came to Tampa it would be a cat 5 possibly 175mph+ and the band/ connect band that caused “minor” impacts in Iceland but with this it would cause huge impact across the whole east coast of the United states and possibly even Canada. What I’m trying to get at is Tampa must be ready and with rising sea surface temperatures we could be dealing with a “storm of the century type scenario” if the ingredients come together which they could at anytime even for a weak system as seen with storms like Allison, sandy and more recently Debby which where extreme impacts occurred from rain and some wind Tampa got lucky with Debby but it a matter of when not if. One worst case scenario would be a typhoon tip sized storm hitting Tampa with winds over 195mph which would cause devastating impacts across the whole basin not just Tampa or Bradenton all we can do is hope this scenario doesn’t become reality.

    I am *so thankful* that i don't live in Tampa Bay anymore! I still live in Florida but far enough away from the water where I don't have to worry about stuff like this. I always knew that one day Tampa Bay would be struck by a hurricane. thank god i moved away in time. it's not worth it living there. it's also too crowded and too over rated.
