    I am exactly the guy they’re talking about in this video. A bedroom musician when I started out, guitars and vocals mainly, and I’m now producing my own full-on productions and they actually sound damn good. Companies like GGD have been, and I cannot overstate this, a massive help in making that even possible. I also could not play the drums for shit but now Have progressed to a point where I’m writing and tracking my own drums for my music. It’s so awesome how you can just go out and get yourself a decent E kit and then hook up to GGD and get any drum sound you want convincingly. I’ve now added an instrument to my quiver of things I can play and don’t have the guilt of copy/paste drums in my music. I can’t mic and record an acoustic kit just because of space and noise limitations but I can track through my E-kit and feel better knowing that I actually wrote and played the drums in my stuff. I legit am thankful for guys like Misha and Nollie who have moved the barrier for intro back for musicians to be able to express themselves and create their art when 10 years ago for a lot of us it would’ve been nearly impossible. Cheers fellas

      Me too, but from the aspect that I like to make music. I wanna keep my focus on the guitar. Make me a view "better metronomes". If the ideas form a song I have something good for a drummer to make me something great.

    The way I see it. Writing the music first allows for total creativity and you're not locked in or shackled by the fear of "can I even play that." You're just focused on writing good music and the letting the music tell you where it should go. In my band we were writing a song that we just knew had to go into a tapping section. I'm pretty bad at the technique, but we knew that's where the song wanted to go so we recorded it and eventually I learned how to play it live. If I just went with something I was comfortable with, it would remove the challenge and be a disservice to the music.

  • @francisfarmer1114
    @francisfarmer1114 5 місяців тому

    I love what they're talking about in terms of the composition first, and then they level up in learning to play it! As a guitarist/singer, this is super common for me, cuz I want the riffs to be dope, but I normally can't sing it and play it at the start. That part takes a lot of work and practice, so I relate to what they're saying.

      Look up midi loop drum grooves and fills

    • @lunapocrophy
      @lunapocrophy 2 роки тому

      Start by watching tutorials on how to use the software and then trying to replicate drums and popular songs. Simple stuff. Don’t try and recreate prog drums lol. Just find a simple pop/rock song and try to write drums exactly as you hear them. It’ll help a lot. Eventually you can move to more complicated music and writing your own. You can also use premade grooves/fills. You usually have to pay for good ones. But you can study/dissect those and understand/visualize the patterns.
