Just want to drop a line on the Stevens 301 Turkey .410, factory choke and shooting the TSS #9. May 6th 2023 my daughter took her first ever turkey! Shot at 47 yards! It was a big bird! 24lbs, 10 1/4" beard and 1 1/8" spurs. Fantastic and deadly combo for the price Thanks for the info on the Stevens 301 and the reviews for the ammo. You helped make a 10 year olds year and a first turkey that she will never forget!

Just picked up my 301 today and man im impressed with the ninja loads. My next move is ordering a code black. Ill bet it would be a solid 40 yard gun!!! Thanks for all you guys do. Your testing takes a lot of guessing out of what to try.
My 301 will be here next Wednesday. I plan on making my own flight control wads on my lathe using a all brass hull. Hopefully I will have some videos up here soon testing different styles of wads using both lead magnum and TSS loads. Thanks for the videos, being a 410 collector I have to have the Stevens lol.
Taking my son out here in a few weeks. He drew a wildlife refugee tag in New Mexico. Have the 301 and could only find TSS. Glad they work well with the gun.
@@BlueCollarOutdoorsUSA nice! I could only find 8s though. Any experience with them? His gun shoots well with lead. But for this hunt has to be non toxic. We can still use lead elsewhere in the state.

I shoot my 301 20ga with Apex 9’s and stock EF choke and would feel confident to shoot a goobler at 50 yards. Much easier to shoot and more deadly than my old 12ga. Keep the vids coming.
Brother sight in that little scope next time and you’ll rock your test! If I could find a .410 with a 22” barrel with a pattern master choke. Get pattern master to make the choke and call it the reaper! A short light .410 would be the Ultimate reaping shotgun. You know I love single shot guns!!!
I have it sighted in for a patternmaster code black turkey & the load I’m going to be hunting with, the stock choke shot high & right I’m gonna try reaping with mine!
Jake, exact same results that I experienced with the Federals vs. Apex through the stock choke. Only difference that I had was slight elevational compensation @ 43 yds to where you had to hold on the head vs. Waddle. Still thinking about the patternmaster as a possibility down the road as I agree tighter in your prior test but for those with only stock tube you can still get it done with confidence out to these distances. Great all around and always fantastic informational sessions. Looking forward to more down the road.
Thanks for the constant support hoss we try hard to put out thes best content every vid!! I figured others must have experienced the same! Least that means the stock choke is consistent it actually did impress me!
Apex looks patchy and of course its going to have a denser pattern, if the pellets are smaller and thats if the loads are the same weight. If the apex is a heavier load, they're absolutely going to put a bunch more on target.
Agreed, the point was to test the stock choke at both ranges with two loads not really comparing the loads themselves I also shot right on the apex at 40 pushing the core pattern, we will be doing more stock choke pattern tests shortly

Most of the loads we’ve put through our .410’s have been clean enough to not need to clean the barrel every time except the BOSS tom 410 load, that shot great but it left clumps of residue and greatly affected the Apex’s pattern in another test, ive patterned the Apex loads before and they shot amazing

@@BlueCollarOutdoorsUSA It's amazing what a .410 is doing with both loads regardless. It's very nice of you to test & share the results. Since these loads are quite expensive, I think some hunters are hesitant to pattern them like cheaper loads. Don't Turkey hunt and hate the taste of it now,but I'd love to have one of these guns and put me a scope on it and make it a slug gun to deer hunt with if that's possible now!?
I’m not sure this would be the best bet for that application and actually in NY it is illegal to hunt with a .410 for Whitetail since you can fire a 45 out of one as well
@@BlueCollarOutdoorsUSA I live here in Virginia on my farm down next to the Kentucky line, and I have plenty of deer and turkeys but god help me I hate Turkey meat,I even let my neighbors and friends go Turkey hunting here all the time when it's open.only thing is leave the deer along and rabbits squirrels now.but that gun would make a great light slog gun with a scope on it if it wasn't checked off so much!!!!!
I hear ya, I’m sure you could find a choke setup to fit it for that application
If you're looking to handicap yourself why put a scope on a 410? Reliability penetrating a deer with a 410 over 60 yards away is iffy anyway. I'd rather shoot a muzzleloader with open sights if I want a challenge, or even a revolver.
@@craig5649 well see I only have 1 eye that works for me now,i lost my right eye when i was in my beloved marine corps and now i can see out of my right eye but I see two instead of one with it open.so I ware a patch on my right eye,and now I have to shoot my rifles left handed but i can use my pistols un my right hand but I have to sight down on them with my left eye.and my good right eye has a cataract on it right now and I'm scared to death to have it took off next mouth.because if the doctor screws up then I'll be blind.i use red dot sights on all my hunting pistols and scopes on all my hunting rifles.so see I'd love to have me a gun like that just to hunt with.and yes I do have hawnen rifles made by t/c in 45,50 and 54 calibers and 2 Kentucky long rifles with open sights 1 in 45 calber and 1 in 50 calber.all bought before I lost my right eye now see.but my kids and grand kids will some day enjoy them someday I hope!!!!!
Does anyone know can you use tss for waterfowl being it's not lead?
Yessir it’s no toxic shot
@@BlueCollarOutdoorsUSA fantastic, expensive, but looks to be worth it
We don’t use tss for waterfowl that’s out of our price range lol
No doubt, I won't either, I was just curious. Bismuth is alot cheaper. I'll rely on Magnum BB steel. Good enough for me
We’re not sold on the whole bismuth craze really hard to get it to pattern decent we shoot steel it’s never let us down
We will be doing a bismuth vs steel ballistic gel test shortly

What,
What is the best choke and shell for that gun?
Look at all our pattern tests with it and see what you like best
What did you end up going with?
It’s not about what I went with it’s about what you like my guy
What I like and what you like could be completely different
Ether one you have a dead bird at 40 yards.
Yessir!
Send those steven model 301 410 in India
What lol
Lol 😂 dude every video where you shoot this Stevens 301 the red dot ISNT sighted in. WTF.
Do you listen to what I say? That’s why
You have to zero with what you hunt with you change a choke or load of both you have to zero
We don’t zero to every setup every test I cants afford to I already have over 30k in costs in the turkey pattern series as is
Does anyone know where can I get chokes for this gun, or who makes them? I ordered one recently (Browning), but it was not the right fit.
Every choke brand makes them currently they’re under the stevens 301 turkey for most manufacturers
@@BlueCollarOutdoorsUSA Thank you for a quick reply. My gun came with a turkey choke, but I want to put a modified choke for squirrels to get a bigger spread. My 11 years old can't handle 20 gauge. I can't find anything less than a turkey choke. If you know any, could you please paste a link here.
That I don’t know I’ve only bought turkey chokes but just google search it and I’m sure you’ll find it
You hunt kenrucky
We do for turkey
