One of my favorites by Sousa. Sometimes I forget that the USMC Drum & Bugle Corps plays the trio section in G Major; I usually hear it in F Major. Either way, it works.
I marched in drum corps in late sixties, dad too and we seen your corps at a contest I was in. I'm 65 an I will never forget that performance. Awesome powerful and clean. Great job sir.👏👏👏🍻
@@bigfloppa5731 I probably wouldn't think "has to." It is certainly a quality, signature piece. Written at the Washington, D.C., barracks by "The March King," himself, also a Marine. I'd guess his marches are played happily for those reasons and because all of his music is simply outstanding.
At 2:02 there is a different combination of instruments giving a different sound from what is normally heard. It that a special arraignment or a difference in the perspective in which it is recorded. There are heavier brass instruments heard in this version. Just curious.
I really want to play the tuba part just for fun since my school is one of the MCJROTC programs across the country. Are there any sheets for this arrangement?
Sorta late but if you go to the Marine Corps DBC website they have publicly published all of John Philip Sousa’s arrangements as to it being a public document. This means you could find your part on there
@@garrettchurchey do you know what sticks the snare line uses for regular marching purposes? Also you guys on bass blow my mind, sounds like a MIDI file, so clean.
@@flarfatron2190Thanks! The snares use Promark DC-50’s for regular playing, and normally Innovative Percussion PR-2’s on the rope drums, but looks like they used the DC-50’s on them for this video.
Eric is filming for those who are looking for him
Everyone looking for Eric: 🥁👄🥁
He filmed it I think
How did you know 😳
Here I am!
I was behind the camera during this video though.
@@EMCproductions hello sgt. Carr (I think)
@@EMCproductions So, did you record the interview as well? And edit the final product? Very nice!
Abselutely love the rope tension snares
Thanks for your post. After I read it, I had to take a 2nd look. Wow!
Love Sousa Marches. Played them in high school marching band in the late 60’s. Thank you!
Happy Birthday to my Brother and Sister and Friends for our 245th.
God Bless and
Semper Fidelis!
Very nice.
SEMPER FIDELIS!!!

Where is Eric 🐔🐔
filming
Thankyou
Very cool!
Amazing
This is cool and proves that we can still play together outside and not die.
Happy Birthday! Semper Fi!
Still wondering if BAC Custom is going to start making G bugles for them again, they have most of Kanstul's old tools, Adams has some if it as well
Something has “been in the works” for a while now. Probably nothing coming anytime soon.
Semper Fi Marines and God Bless Truman!
G Bugles and rope tension snares❤🥁
Eric shot this and put it together?? Impressive
Hey, where's my chicken loving tenor player!

Hello!
Semper Fidelis and Happy Birthday from the daughter of a Guadalcanal Campaign Purple Heart Marine!
Well done!!
God bless🇺🇸
I marched 8 yrs in that corps (84-92) and still know the fingerings of that song. Ugh.
First, thank you for your service to the country.
Second, wow how much did you play this?
Third, what instrument?
@@SaneTheBro from what I’ve heard, the marine corps band has to play semper fidelis almost every time they perform

@@frankmorton1626 any idea what instruments they used at that time?
The Commandant's Own Brass>Crown Brass imo
I would hope so
they use single and double valve bugles
Commandants own drumline > Santa Clara vanguard drumline

An interesting arrangement. I have seen a score with a part for rubato Master Gunnery Sergeant. Who made it?
TRADITION!!! "Commandant's Own" STILL using two-valves ... OOH-RAH!!! /s/ USMC (Retired)
Such a bad@** march! Semper Fi!

Not the only one who purposely looks for Eric in all drum and bugle Corps videos?
_ERIC_
Do they use two or three valve?
Currently, two valves.
