Longshot is a different kind of monster when he gets behind the cockpit of Flankers. That first kill was a piece of art and kinde goes to show the capabilities of an SU-27 despite her age.
When you're in an airframe that's up against an opponent that was designed specifically to kill what you're flying, that's how you've got to do it. Get in close, use your maneuverability, kill kill kill. You see that a lot in WW2 and Korea, older fighters only having a chance by going super aggressive and taking it to knife fighting range.
@@davidsmith8997 They really are. Watching these two is truly something spectacular. I keep hoping to see more campaign-based combat with objectives and BVR engagements. I enjoy those so much more than the simple (and, admittedly, not very realistic) rate fights. See the airframes put through their paces in the roles they're actually deployed to fill.
@@davidsmith8997 Heck yeah. Which is one reason I'm loving the WW1 and 2 dogfighting that GS is posting. Rate fights and good old-fashioned furballs were the bread and butter of those wars.
As a current f-16 crew chief I can tell you we won't be upset if you over G in a real world scenario. But if you over G in a training sortie, you better be prepared to bring some beer and grab a speed handle.
@@siplt depending on how many G’s the pilot pulls, we have to take off about 15-20 panels. All key components have to be inspected for cracks in the airframe, also the Landing gear has to be swung to make sure it still works as advertised. Usually adding at least 30 man hours of work.
@@thebarkingbaby1881 Thats usually not the case with an eurofighter. The electronic flight control system will prevent over-g as long as you dont manually override it, which is (in german training) not done. The limit is 9Gs, which is already a lot. The skill of your competition determines how much you can grow and mature. It has been great, in particular, watching Longshot become an absolute monster, esp in a Flanker. Sometimes he almost seems reckless, but then there are moments like that first kill where you wonder if he is just a mad genius. If fortune favors the bold then Longshot is a winged Flanker demigod.
As a former F-15E crew chief i can say no im not going to be happy with you over a level 1 over G, but anything above that you'll be out there with me fixing and inspecting the aircraft.
I think this was one of the most interesting and entertaining dogfights I've seen on this channel so far. Excelent piloting with both planes on their respective limits, amazing to watch!
This is one of the most intense dogfights i've seen in a while! Eurofighter looks like an epic mod, and Longshot definitely knows how to fly the Flanker.
It is the canards out front giving you that impression, like in the supermaneuvrability F-15 demonstrator. They give a massive boost to instantaneous and sustained yaw rate.
@@debbiestimac5175 they're solely for pitch. The operate as a fixed pair augmenting the flaperons and leading edge slats for pitch only. The rudder is the only flying control surface that effects yaw on typhoon.
@@antonyaiken Not even close kiddo, that is like saying engines on a boat can only make it go forward and backward, differential thrust makes the boat or aircraft yaw and how I dock my boat so nicely on a summers day at the marina. Same goes for differential airfoil incidence angles. Otherwise canards would be fixed to act jointly and never independent of one another, not the case in either the demonstrator F-15 or the Typhoon.
@@debbiestimac5175 wut? No. Antony is right. The canards on the Eurofighter are just pitch control devices. They don't do roll or yaw (only in cases like battle damage, might the FLCS use them to help with yaw, but still with with very limited effectiveness).
The Eurofighter is a very, very maneuverable jet in most flight regimes due to the combination of its high T/W, low W/S, high degree of static instability, advanced FLCS and its canard-delta wing design... Not simply because of "iT hAs CaNaRds". But, despite being highly maneuverable, the Eurofighter is not "supermaneuverable". Supermaneuverability is the capability of a fighter aircraft to execute tactical maneuvers under control at high AoAs beyond maximum lift (Post Stall regime). That is why its max possible AoA allowed by its FLCS is 25º, same as an F-16.
