    Franck Pourcel (1913-2000) was a French violinist and orchestra leader known for his lush, easy-listening arrangements of popular songs and film themes. He began his musical career playing violin in a number of French orchestras before forming his own orchestra in 1952. Pourcel was highly prolific and released over 200 albums during his career, many of which were international bestsellers.
    Pourcel's arrangements were characterized by their smooth, sophisticated sound, which was achieved through his use of lush string sections, polished brass and woodwinds, and a variety of percussion instruments. He was particularly renowned for his interpretations of popular songs, such as "Love is Blue," which became a hit for Pourcel in 1968 and went on to become the biggest-selling instrumental single of all time.
    Pourcel's music was popular worldwide, and he toured extensively throughout Europe, Asia, and South America. He was also a regular performer on French television and appeared in a number of films. Throughout his career, Pourcel won numerous awards and honors, including the Grand Prix du Disque and the Chevalier de la Legion d'Honneur. He continued to record and tour well into his later years, and his music remains popular with fans of easy listening and instrumental pop.
