I'm not sure how much Warhammer Fantasy Battle you guys played, but these videos you are making are incredible for veterans and new players alike. Thank you for your work. Your armies look great! You're production quality is top notch. I'm so happy you guys are diving into the Old World.

@konradawolynski manoeuvring with light cav, loved my Dark Riders, was my fave thing in fantasy, I do fear smaller tables would take away so much of strategy. Nothing stopping you from playing on a proper board I guess.
For what its worth the rulebook says use 6x4 as that's the classic, but if that's not possible use 60"x44". So both old and new players can play on what they like 🙂
It's funny that I stumbled across this today, I played WFB back in the late 80s, and was very much into it until I played a competition game where every single unit failed a fear test and they all ran off the table. Quickest game anyone had ever seen, quite ridiculous. After that I decided guitars and girls were a far better distraction, and thank god for that! 😆
I got into warhammer fantastly lore and video games as a teen when I learned about the tabletop game it was too late and it had been discontinued for a good number of years. I am so excited to have my chanc3
I found this video incredibly useful when I was starting with The Old World 10 months ago. Today, as I rewatch it to check some things, I have two comments: * Still useful for newbies. Awesome! * Why oh why were the undead models the ones demonstrating panic tests and fleeing??
Ah, movement trays. I missed you. It is a long time since i played with my bretonians wood elves, but this beginners overview of thr basic game fundementals seems to suggest the rules have been tightened up a bit. However, My last rule book i have was at least an inch thick, but thats how i liked it. I like the magic phase and i dont like the psychic (basically the magic phase in 40k) being changed. Thanks for the vid.
This is fantastic, thanks for making this. Would you mind going into detail as to where you got all of that terrain from that's used in this video? It's brilliant and I've love to buy it.
Just wanted a little clarification on something to make sure I read it right. Those that get killed in combat are removed from the number that can fight back? So if the regiment with the higher initiative "kills" 4 of the 6 miniatures in the front rank, the other regiment involved only fights back with 2 models (in that case, would it be the champion and one other regular mini)? Just felt a little lost on that and wondered if folks could help.
This is correct. The sargeant will fight, but the bannerman and musician technically die (someone from the rear ranks steps up and picks up the flag and the drum) so they cant fight. Ive encountered the problem where high intiative units pwn my lower ones, wiping out rank after rank, with only the sargeant swinging attacking back
@@donandresdeulloa4638 thanks for the clarification, much appreciated. I only really properly played 8th so had the step up rule. I can it being devastating to get smashed!
So factions like dwarves, lizardmen and the undead get rofl-stomped in big engagement, whilst elves can just send in small units and absolutely massacre the opposition? It does seem a bit unbalanced to me.
@@Duchess_Van_Hoof consider that slower armies are usually tougher. And not every attack kills. There are units that specialise in striking first and hard, but these ones are obvious, like cavalry and Dark Elves.
I'm only 28, and even I'm too old for floorhammer. Used to play 7th and 8th on the floor back in the day though, only surface large enough for the realm of battle board. Edit* I had to add, great video, very pedagogical.
Good Video. I have a question. We Know that a Unit can adopt only Formation in his Special Rule. Now. We Know that a Close Order Formation is composed of 2 or MORE model in Ranks and Files. Well. Dragon Ogre can only adopt Close Order, but if i want i can also purchase just one 1 Dragon Ogre. So what Formation will the Dragon Ogre have? Loved the video, I was looking for something like that, but this is the most thorough. Thank you very much for that! Do you believe that it as new player would be better starting from The Old Worlds or can I just jump in The Age of Sigmar?
Thanks gents - a great intro to the basic rules. I noticed that most of your basic infantry models are still on 20mm bases, are you keeping them like that or will you accommodate the change to 25mm by adjusting the spacing in the movement trays?
Unfortunately producing content is expensive, so there needs to be enough interest in systems to warrant the time and money invested, and sadly there just is not enough call for Conquest and many other games. Never say never but its just not feasibly on the cards
Unless there is more text in the book and/ or samples than the text u displayed, the pursuing into the chariot looks sketchy to me (unless the camera is super deceiving). Normally it used to be a situation while pursuing the fleeing unit (in a straight line) would cause the pursuing unit to touch bases with a different enemy unit, and then it would count as a charge). Whereas on your example it looks like the unit just decided to charge something else instead of pursuing, and even got a flank charge to make it worse (again camera makes it look like the majority of the unit is in the front arc of the chariot), which would also mean pursuing is way more advantageous than overrunning, since it seems the overrunning unit doesn’t have the same choice to abandon its straight line movement…
@csblack01 They are indeed, but this video is about the basic rules, so we weren’t highlighting specific army rules. The units are just representative :)
you can easily make a 45 min video just detailing 1.1 of the combat phase and "step up" moves,-- also a 1 hour video on Combat Res, lol. but thanks for this overview
Great video, i thought you covered a wide spread without getting into the weeds (hitting on a 7+, why are you still here?), as they could be a bit off putting to new players. Bit odd you used Tomb Kings to illustrate fleeing but that's ok.
Yeah it’s an extensive ruleset to say the least. Glad to hear the video was useful. Sorry about the Tomb Kings that’s my bad - I’m new to the game too 😅 - Beard
As a younger player (18 as of July 23) who never got a chance to play fantasy I’m very excited to get a chance to finally play this game

Will Beardo lead the hordes of chaos in a future Battrep? (I miss him)
The armies look so nice being in formations. Looks much nicer than the AOS skirmish layout.
Looks nicer with the new base sizes yes. Best looking GW game is MESBG War of The Ring.
This has me reliving the early nineties, & I like it!
So excited to see my first GW love 30 odd years ago tightened up and re released. I just need to see if I can persuade my gaming mates to play.
Yeah its a pitty that they make te battlefield so small 0 places to go 0 places to manuver. Idiotic idea to make them this small. Bring back 72x48

This is a great video for someone playing for the first time! Huge blood bowl fan but never played war games and I’m pumped for The Old World!
Fantastically well produced and informative video!
Thank you!! Can't wait to get my hands on my copy of the rules.
Omg thank you TTT!! I would like to play TOW but its kindda complex indeed. If they ever release a Kislev faction, im in!!! Keep up the good work !!!
Hopefully this will be the guide to help make it clearer! We're also hoping for Kislev!
