Data scientist is becoming one of the top paid job in the world, every element you take is a subject of its own. If you check the Upwork you can see in an avg job related to data science are paid more than 50$ an hour depending on the complexity of the work it increases. A data scientist work basically on a data pipeline. It starts with collecting the data -> Cleaning -> Preprocessing-> Building model(if required)-> Optimizing the model -> Final conclusions from the data. These steps need a lot of automation, so programming is just a tool for it. In complex cases, this will extend to a lot of domains like game theory, operational research, etc(you can see such notebooks in Kaggle.). It's not complicated if you plan things and take tiny steps day by day and improve it . The data is sort of like soil it depends on the farmer what to plant which is profitable for him. So your domain knowledge about the data you handle also matters. This is why any Kaggle notebooks start with an intro of the concept you work on. This is the reason you need good study skills and pretty good curiosity. You dont know what is in the data your ability to ask questions and your skill is the factor here. You are young so aim of the best and work on it.
You might be of different skill level now but you have time you start working on it, you have a mountain to climb you have 2 options climb the hill and satisfy your self, or push your skills and limits and be an inspiration for other as well. it depends on the individual to make the choice.

If you want to work outside India/Kerala you can choose one of these threes. If you have programming knowledge then you can choose Computer Science
@sachin : Don't even think of mechanical or electrical, if you are trying to do it from India. You can go for it if you are trying for IIT or NITs, otherwise never ever do these engineering courses. Computer science is completely fine, if you have the interest for it. All other branches of engineering are dead in this country. If you don't wanna struggle and depressed in life , choose some course which is in demand rather than blindly opting for shitty engineering courses and ultimately ruining your precious life kid. So decide wisely. Best wishes
