That’s awesome!! Thanks so much for using our recipe ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you
My dad passed away a long time ago, this dish tasted very close to his when I was growing up. Now I get to make it for my son! Thanks!
You’re most welcome. Now you’re playing the role of your father as a loving parent. Awesome 👍👍
My frienddddd, I just saw today this recommended by my wife and I made it asap and that was so fast so simple so damn yummyyyyyy I’ll be making it again and again and againnnnnn!!!!!
Thank you so much, Kristi-Anne Spoljaric 🙏🙏🙏 God bless your wife and you of course 🙏🙏 thank you so much for using our recipe 🤓 Glad to know that you enjoyed it.
Hi, I tried this with snapper but still half frozen and it turned out very fishy. How to get rid of the smell? The sauce was really good though. Thanks in advance.
The only steam fish recipe that i go for, super easy and super delicious! Thanks so much Rolland for making me a better cook, God bless you and your family
I soak the fish in the sauce first before steaming. This is an easy and phenomenal recipe. People that hate fish or "fishy taste" go nuts over this. I did this with Blackfish (Tautog) a few days ago and it came out like butter.
Such a good idea to marinate the fish with the sauce first. Super. Thanks so much for using our recipe!
try making a quick soup underneath as well. kill two birds with one stone.
I know it is pretty off topic but do anyone know a good website to watch newly released tv shows online?
@Mathew Wesson I would suggest flixzone. You can find it by googling :)
We subbed the sugar for honey. I'm trying to help my brother control his diabetes.
Best Premium Fish I Like: 1. Wild Cat Fish 2. Silver Promfret 3. Golden Promfret 4. Red Garoupa (Dong Xing Barn) 5. Cod Fish 6. Goliath Garoupa 7. Soon Hock 8. Mouse Garoupa 9. Dragon Tiger Garoupa (Sea Farm). I perfer hot fried garlic oil pour. Toppings: fresh young ginger slices, green onion (thin slices), fried garlic (1 tbsp)
Thank u spice and pans i know now how to cook chinese foods for my employers bcoz of u.. thank u..
the finished ginger looke like it was the victim of a post apocalyptic nuclear war......
Just made this and it was so delicious and easy! I didn't have fresh garlic so I used powdered garlic which worked. The depth of flavor would be better with fresh garlic though. Overall, 10/10 would recommend!
Thank you for this easy and fuss-free recipe! Just made it for iftar and the husband gave me 9/10 because he wanted more! Haha definitely sharing this recipe with friends and families. :)
Hehehehe. Your hubby is hilarious! Thank you so much Haney for using our recipe 🤓
If I want to steam grouper fish ( bigger size), how long should I steam it?
Between10-15mins. You can have a look after 10mins and if the eye pooped out, it’s done. Do wait for the water to come to a boil before putting the fish in. Also make sure the fish is left in room temperature a while if you just take it out front the fridge. This is to make sure that the fish is not too cold otherwise it won’t cook well. Happy cooking.
Thank you so much for the tips! :)
Superb. I try to make this dish at home. And I love it.
I prepared fish this way and used a simple half lime juice half soy sauce recipe on top. Ate with curry rice and potatoes. Excellent. Will make fish again today along with egg fried rice. Thank you for this cooking method!
Wow, looks amazing and very easy. I'm on holiday for the next week but really excited to get back and try some of your recipes x

How do you make that beautiful spring onion garnish on top?
Hi Lucia. Here you go ua-cam.com/video/VjdkVeo_Ypg/v-deo.html
Is it ok skip the ginger oil part as I don’t like too much oil. so just steam the fish and pour the sauce over it?
Hi Samantha. So sorry for our late reply. You can skip but it increases the yummy factor of this dish. So so sorry for our late reply.
I usually put the soy, sugar & ginger on the fish before steaming because the fish flavour from the fish comes out, thus not requiring additional water. Pouring hot ginger & red chilli oil over is also good!
Sir can I put chilis into the sauce? Because i like steam fish when it is spicy
it is really SUPER EASY and DELICIOUS!!!
Thank you so so much, Angeline :)))
can i use regular yellow onion? I have all the ingredients but the green onion.

can rub a bit of salt on fish before steaming to give it a bit more flavor? tks for this very easy recipe!
Hihi. Yes but your fish might be too salty. How about trying the recipe as is first and then gauge how you wanna cook it the second time round? Happy cooking!
I love this video! So brief, Simple and straight forward..........Thanks for this video!
Thank you so much for your support. Happy cooking! 🤓
You make it look so simple 👍💯
Thanks for the recipe! But is there an alternative to put ginger and spring onion in the sauce?
Thank you! Im from Indonesia and i’ll try this recipe 💜
Can i use regular dinner plate? It wont break?
Hihi. Yes as long as it’s not a glass plate, it’s okay. We used a regular dinner plate too.
@@spicenpans thank you!!🙏🏻🙏🏻

Thanks for sharing this steam fish recipi. Its fast n easy n it looks good 👍 n healthy dish ❤️
What brand soy do you use for this or does that even matter?
Hi Tony. If I didn’t remember wrongly, we used Lee Kum Kee light soy sauce for this recipe. Yes brand matters because the saltiness level of the soy sauce differ based on their own recipe. You may want to start at a small amount then add more to fit your liking. Hope this helps. Happy cooking!
What's the main brand light and dark soy sauce you like to use for Chinese cooking? Like for instance Hong Shao Rou, which by the way I love.
Hi, Roland.i made this fish for dinner tonight.
The sauce was really good except I steam the fish for too long like 12 mins and it became a bit hard.
Otherwise, my husband think it is perfect !
Will definitely cook again.
Btw, can I also try frying the fish instead of steaming ?
Thanks for your passion in cooking👍🏻💕🇸🇬
Hi Luvjoesong. Thanks so much for letting us know you and your hubby enjoyed this recipe. Yes you can fry the fish first. You can marinate the fish first with some ginger juice and sprinkle some salt on both sides of the fish. Let it marinate for half an hour. Take the fish out from the fridge at least 15 mins before frying so that the temperature of the fish is not too cold. Last step is to coat the fish with some plain flour - just a thin layer will do. Hope this helps 🙏🙏🙏
@@spicenpans
Thanks for the tips 👍🏻💕
Fish don't need steam too long, otherwise the fish will be hard,. Steam fish need take a 10mint 😊
Hey Luvsong, if your steaming a fish fillet like that 5 mins is all you need, traditional chinese steamed fish is done on the bone which obviously require more time, a fillet is perfectly flat and will cook evenly and quicker then whole fish. I still prefer whole fish
@Vincent T. Jackass
Can I use olive oil instead? Looks very healthy and delicious.
Sorry I don’t know how to steam
What kind of plate is that?
How much water do you use to steam?
What is that silver thing called that you’re using to sit the plate on and where do you get it?
You’re skipping steps that I need… thanks. I’m a true beginner
Hi, can I use other fish fillets like cod fish? Btw, love your videos!
Hi Patrick. Thanks so much for your kind words. Glad to have you around! Yes you can use cod fish. Should be very yummy. Happy cooking!

You’re most welcome. Hope your children like this dish.
Do you have a video on how to cut up the spring onions as garnish for the dish above?
Hi Han. We used a gadget from Daiso - Japanese dollar shop. You just need to use that to cut through the spring onion. Very easy. Hope you can find this gadget.
Salt and seasoning?
You don’t need them. The soy sauce is salty enough.
Have you tried boiling a soup underneath and steaming fish with the rack on top? Kill two birds in one stone hahhhahahhahaa
Lovely recipe… what is name of utensil used to place plate on to steam fish? I need one
I love this dish very healthy 😍
Thank you for taking the time to show this video! Subbed!!
Thank you so so much!! 🙏🙏🙏
Hi Roland I already tried your recipe used dory fish (3 min for steamed the fish) my parents had steamed fish for their lunch again thank u
Woohooz! Thank you so much for using our recipe
That ain't no Chinese steamed fish, the authentic dish has the whole fish steamed, change the title to steamed fish fillet
Hi I'm the new subscriber, could I subtitute the snapper with the dory. & how long I must steamed the dory. Would yiou mind to share a tips thank you so much
Thank you so much for subscribing to our channel. Yes you can use dory fish as well although we rarely use dory fish to steam in Singapore because we mostly get them in frozen form. Their flesh absorbs a lot of water so usually it is deep fried. If you can get your dory fish fresh, that would be great. Please clean the fish and rid all the blood from it before cooking otherwise your fish will be fishy. Hope this helps. Happy cooking.
I made this today and it is absolutely delicious.
just saw ur video and think that this is super easy, but im a student and the market sells frozen fishes instead, is it okay to use frozen fish? if so how do i steam the fish?
Hihi Kah Yan. It’s best to use fresh fish to steam but if you really can’t get it, yes frozen fish is fine too. Happy cooking!
Tried this, so simple, taste awesome ❤️
Hi Roland! I have cooked so many recipes from you and never disappointed...tomorrow I'll try this one....i bet my husband and daughter will like it....tq....

Great video , I love your cooking.
Thank you so much, ox ox. Yes you can use salmon but I’m not sure if salmon will be too overpowering in taste for this light dish. We have a salmon recipe here which you might wanna consider ua-cam.com/video/vAgxAKYHGgI/v-deo.html
Happy cooking!
Cooked this today.
Delicious.
Thanks Chef.
Thank you so much for using our recipe!
Hi Can I uses any kind of plate for steaming the fish?
The ginger and spring onion for steaming fish. Can it be reuse again? Its a waste to throw. How can we reuse. Can we re use it for the final touch for spring onion. For the ginger can we fried it and reuse?😢
I literally searching for this recipe, am Indian worked in Singapore, I like this recipe yummy
I always love your cooking.. simple n delicious...n your friendly sharing. Thank you.
I clean my fish with salt water solution, it removes the fishiness better and also scums that couldn't be cleaned with regular water. it may be a little bit slimy, but don't worry that sliminess is the scums and the fishiness...pat it dry and you good to go
Perfect steamed fish recipe!

Steam fish my all time favorite dish, thanks for the recipe Chef!
You’re most welcome!
Chief so delicious but my granmda don't like much oil can i make it little oil?thnk u shes taiwanese and i love ur ccooking. 😍
Hi Chai Tai85, yes absolutely. No problem. You can reduce the amount of oil use or even omit it. You're so sweet - to cook for your grandma. She's so fortunate to have you as a grand-daughter. Thank you so much for loving my cooking! :)
Oil is optional for steamed fish. My mother (bless her Teochew soul) would just steam fish with just sour plums, salted veges, ginger, mushroom and tomatoes. The fish has to be super fresh, and it was heavenly tender and juicy. So simple, so good.
Can I use the sesame oil with ginger instead? Thanks
Sure you can but use a little bit only please as sesame oil may be too overpowering for this dish. Happy cooking.
Mmmmmm... Steamed fish taste so good. That taste so delicious and tender steamed fish. Great dish. See u next time.
Have a great week, bro!
You too.
your ginger is completely burnt.. omg..
Where can I find the tools you used to steam the fish? Not the pans, I have that but the stand you used for the plate. Thanks!
