An interesting device. And how does it work?
Magnetizes the armature being tested. If any of the coils or commutator pins are shorted, the metal plate that the person doing the test runs over the armature will stick to the shorted coil.

It can shock you while any winding of armature have more can act as step tranceformer , and while touching and shorting with wire can shocked you .. becouse you have proper insulated gloves , but mostly persone those who take lesson from youtube they dont have gloves , they can get electric shock
I've noticed most restorers are in Europe. I'm a retired electrician in America. Why don't you use grounded plugs like we do?
