All of this while doing law school? Wow! Just wanted to say with all the others that I really appreciated all the videos, the analyses of different climbing styles, the history of notable climbers... All the care you've put into it is impressive! All the best for your exams and your next chapter!
From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much for the kind words and all of the support! I can't say how much I appreciate it
Adam Ondra is in law school? Wow!
You've provided some of the best climbing content out there, i'm sad to hear it might stop/take a break but i've enjoyed every single one of your videos so happy for what we've gotten :)
glhf with work!
Thank you so much! I'm sad to be ending but I've had so much fun and it's because of you all following along and supporting me
Congratulations on finishing law school. You provided a detailed, interesting, and unique analysis to climbing, and I’m absolutely certain you will be excellent in everything you do. Thank you for the amazing climbing videos, and best wishes for the next steps in your career!
Man y'all are seriously going to make me cry, thank you so much, I can't express how much it means
This is one of my favorite climbing UA-cam channels! Thanks for all you've done so far, and I look forward to more at some point in the future should you come back!
Bro y'all are going to make me cry :') thank you for all the support, I really appreciate it more than I can say
Your video on Jain Kim was the first climbing video I ever saw. It was sent to me by someone who wasn't even a climber, and at the time I didn't climb either. It was just such a good video, we loved it watching it anyway!
You have a really genuine style of content creation that feels totally unforced. I remember that video was so fascinating and informative, and the footage you edited in to illustrate your points so well was just beautiful. Seeing her climb, and hearing how you spoke about it- analysed it, explained it, celebrated it- stayed with me. I started climbing a little while later, and fell completely in love. I feel lucky every day to have climbing in my life.
I wish you all the best!
I never make comments on UA-cam but felt very compelled to thank you for these amazing videos you have made! I love climbing, and as a newer climber I am so eager to watch and learn all I can. Your passion, skill and ability to make such thoughtful videos has been a true treat to enjoy. I wish you the best with your new law practice and hope you will still make videos as time and inspiration permit :)
Aw thank you so much!! I can't tell you how much it means, good luck on your climbing journey!!
I feel the exact same as Sarah, amazing Chanel this has been
You will be missed! I've been climbing for 2-3 years now and your videos got me to learn so much about the competition side of climbing, discovering professional climbers and got me to start following them
Comments like these always make me smile :') thanks for the support!
I selfishly hope you'll find the time to post more videos in the future, I really really enjoy them! Jokes aside congrats on finishing law school and best of luck with your future career!
Thank you so much!! I don't really know how much spare time lawyers have, but I wouldn't say it's impossible that some Olympic content gets made... eventually
@@ascentionism well...eventually is better than never!!
Thanks for all the great entertainment! As a relatively new climber its been invaluable to be introduced to so many top level climbers and get fantastic analysis of different climbing styles.
Good luck with your upcoming exams and all your future endeavors! :)
My pleasure, thank you so much for the support and I'm glad it's helped introduce you to the sport more!!
Thank you for providing us such high quality content! Best of luck in the future!
Thanks for the emotional and honest words. I always had a blast watching your videos. Love your in depth analytical approach. Whatever you do in the future. Have fun.
Thank you for all the support (and for making me feel less cringe about getting emotional)!!
Good luck on the new road! I learned so much from your videos, you are super knowledgeable and such a great representative of the climbing community with so much love and respect to everyone and every style.
"a great representative of the climbing community" is honestly maybe my favourite compliment I've heard. Thank you so much for all of the support!
@@ascentionism well deserved!
I LITERALLY LOVE UR CHANNEL AND I COMPLETELY UNDERSTAND THAT IT WONT BE REGULAR UPLOADS ANYMORE AND IM SAD BUT RESPECT YOU SO MUCH FOR IT
Thank you for your videos over all this time and I really enjoyed sharing this passion of climbing with you through your videos. No matter if or when you have time to continue with this channel keep enjoying life! Also if you ever decide to come to Europe and Czechia, you’re welcome here and we can go climbing together! You’re awesome dude
Your channel has been my favourite climbing UA-cam channel. Thank you so much for your amazing, analysis, storytelling and highlighting of interesting climbers. Best of luck going forward
Really enjoyed your content, all the best for your future
Your content and breakdowns are great, man, hope you find the time to keep enlightening us about the minutiae of climbing. I just NEED you to do a video of Ghisolfi before you go AWOL, that’s, I think, the only blindspot of your channel!
We'll make a deal: once Stefano sends BoD and Silence this year (therefore establishing himself as the best climber alive), I'll make a video about him no matter how busy I may be with law :)
man these videos are really well made, and its especially helpful to really see all of these great climbers and a breakdown of their skills. It really puts into perspective how much I have left to go, and even while injured I can still train my climbing mindset. Thanks so much for all the work you've put into creating this channel, smaller climbing channels like yours are what keep the youtube climbing scene alive.
I have always thought that most UA-cam channels present their content because they want teach or are passionate about the subject or want to perform & that if they made a little $ it was a nice benefit but was secondary to the former. Your short thank you at the end of this video demonstrates my thinking is mostly correct. And as a viewer & not a content provider I would also say thank you to you as well as others who provide the content, you are the reason YT & other less censored platforms exist & thrive. Hope you do well in your chosen profession & are honorable in a field where so much corruption is the absolute norm.Thank you!
Damn. I'll miss your videos. It'Ssjust so clean, the way you describe the topic and give sources for what you're saying.
Aw, thanks! As a law student you always gotta have proper citations :)
@@ascentionism Yeah. I Had to write something for uni myself so I just happened to notice. I'm studying politics. I Have a friend that's studying law though and man, she has to do a lot of work. So I really respect that subject.
Saw one of your videos a couple of years ago and was hooked from the beginning. Your breakdown videos are absolutely top notch and will live on forever. Best of luck with everything!
Big thank you!
Loved especially today how you go for comparisons and descriptions that shed new light on how things can be understood.
Best of luck!
Been a pleasure to watch all these years!
Thank you for all the videos! I love your breakdowns and I think you’re one of the reasons I started researching other climbers and learning the history of climbing!
Good luck in law!
The more climbing history nerds I can create, the happier I'll be when I die :) have you read hangdog days?? best climbing history book ever written (IMO)
Thanks so much for your support!!
First time viewer on this channel, really looking forward to watching all the climbing style videos!
Man I this is the first video I saw from this channel, sad to know this might be the last for a while but happy to hear you are moving onto a new chapter! I'm going to binge the rest of these videos now haha
Great work man! Enjoy your last semester and keep climbing! Thanks for all the amazing content! Hugs from Brazil!
You made something really cool with this chanel and all the work you putted in them. All the best for whatever's next to you !
Thanks so much!!
Thank you for your videos! I really enjoyed them. And best of luck with your career as a lawyer.
Sad that this phase of your journey is ending, but I'm excited for you and sending you all the support and good vibes for the future. Thank YOU for producing this channel and sharing these stories. I know how much work goes into these videos, and I'm grateful for all that you've done. Cheers!
Thank you for all the videos you’ve provided us these past few years! Your work is top notch and has really provided a lot of joy and insight to the community : )
Good luck in this next chapter of your journey. If you approach law with have the vigor and passion you’ve given to this channel, you’ll do great.
Thank you too. Your climbing styles serie is great and very interesting. I hope you will be able to continues.
We have to thank you!
I learned so much about limbing from your videos.
History, techniques and simply different angles of how to look at climbing and why it is such a great sport.
For there is a big difference between knowing the big names in a sport and actually knowing why they also deserve to be "these names". You made this possible for me. Videos on another level.
I am truly amazed by your ability to destill these videos out of videos of people "simply climbing up a rout".
So thanks for showing me a glimps of the horizon of what climbing actually has to offer.
All the best to you and hopefully you can still bring out videos or host your from time to time, we need you ;)
Thank you so much!! You have no idea how much it means to learn I helped you learn about the sport in detail, I'm so glad to hear :)
Thank you! It's such a great channel and your passion really shines through. Thank you so much! All the best with the new job.
Your are one of the best content creators, especially when it comes to climbing
Thank you for all of the effort made for us.
good luck in your future adventures!
I was really happy to see a new video from you. Thanks for your videos man! You are an amazing storyteller
Thank you for the support!! Storytelling is my favourite thing to do, so you have no idea how much that means
Hey thank you so much for so many truly top notch videos. I've thoroughly enjoyed your takes on things. You've done a great service to the climbing community. I hope there's more to come when time allows!
Man I'm gonna miss your voice ! Thank you, I learned a lot with your channel and I got inspired, which led me to climb harder (not hard, harder, lol). Gonna miss you buddy ! All the best
Thank you for your vids :) Being pretty new to climbing, contents like yours make the sport easier and more fun to follow.
I just discovered you last week and have binged watched all your videos. Thank you so much for taking the time to make them, they are so insightful and have increased my appreciation for climbing and climbers so much. Good luck with all your future endeavours 😊
I love your work! Your videos are thoughtful, & interesting. I’m always excited to see a new posting ❤😊
Thank you so much for the videos! I really wish you all the best with this new stage in your life.
Thank you for everything man. Your content is truly awesome. Wish you all the best for the part of your life!
P.S. if you ever in Australia, beers on me.
Immediately got excited for the Ondra video! Didn't expect the ending- thanks so much for putting out all the videoes for us. I loved how you were able to make great analysis and comparisons between all the climbers and other sports. Also, knew you were Canadian but had NO idea you were from Calgary as well. Will totally say hi next time I see you at a CCC
Looking forwards to it!! I'm more of a Bolder guy, but I'll keep my eye out for you
@@ascentionism ah, I frequent bolder quite a bit as well 🙂
Good luck with the exams! enjoyed every minute so far and will keep the alert for whatever few videos you might post in the future. Cheers 🥂
Hey man thanks so much for making these videos they are great I learn lot from them. I watch A LOT of climbing videos on UA-cam, and yours are among the best. Good luck with exams and career stuff.
You have no idea how much that means to hear, thank you so so much :) I appreciate the support more than I can say
I really enjoyed all of your videos and the accuracy with which you analyzed every climbing style... Hope you'll still manage to post once in a while, but no pressure, have fun being a lawyer and all kinds of other stuff!
Man, hope you are able to upload something every now and then, your content is killer and one of the best rock climbing related chanels on the platform. Best of luck on your career!
You are going to crush it as a lawyer!! You always have great videos that are entertaining to the end and they have great thought process that are easy to understand!! I am so thankful for you!
I'm a big fan of you channel, the way you distill the essence of a climber is really impressive and educational, I always love to watch your videos for motivation. I’m from Mexico and will be visiting Calgary in May, I would love some suggestions for single pitch sport climbs near by or if we could climb together I’ll buy the beers! Thanks for all the hard work and insight you put in your videos and hope you can find the time to create more content.
Aw man, I'm out of town in May but definitely have some suggestions!! Obviously it depends on what grades you're looking for, some of my personal favourites are:
- Grotto canyon: Farewell to Arms 11a, Importance of Being Earnest 12a (but feels like 12c)
- Grassi Lakes: Mr. Manners 11a, Dance Me Outside 12a, Meathooks 11a, Real Good time 10a
- Back of the Lake: Wicked gravity 11a, Nobody's Girl 12a (this area will probably be too cold)
- Barrier Lake (Probably your best bet for weather): Sisyphus Summits 11c, Beautiful Rainbow 11a (personal favourite), Beautiful Thing 11b
Barrier will be in super good condition and the routes listed are all gorgeous! If you're looking for something stiffer hop on Naked Teenage Girls 12a (super stiff and techy)
Thank you so much for the effort you’ve put into these videos over the years. The beta break videos have been my favourite. Hope you enjoy your new job, but also have time to enjoy life like climbing!
Thank you so much for all of the support!! Always gotta find time to climb :)
I really enjoyed your videos and your way of communicating. If possible, please, don't give up the channel!
loved these videos. as a beginner to the sport, these videos have me learning and appreciating climbing much more.
These types of comments literally make me so happy, I'm glad I could help you love the sport in the way that I do :)
literally the best climbing content i'm so happy for you and hope you get to continue to do this going forward! LLMs aren't going to take over climbing analysis!!
Thanks so much for these videos. Your breakdowns were really fun to watch, but were also great ways to learn the characteristics and techniques that make these climbers you covered great. I am always able to find a little nugget that you point out and pass it along to my son who competes on the youth level. Best wishes on your law career!
That means so much to me, thank you!! Good luck to your son
Thanks so much for your videos. Good luck with the next chapters. Have fun!
Thanks so much for watching them!!
I got really excited when I saw that you released an analysis of Ondra, and I came running to watch it. I really do hope you get back to doing these videos again in the future, they are amazing. Good luck on your next chapter!
PS: try and read the book “4 hour work-week”. It may be a cliché, but I really think that it can help you conciliate your new challenges in Law with keeping up the UA-cam channel! Wish you all the best.
I have loved your videos! i love the attention to detail you have put in your channel. best of luck in what you do brother
Thanks man, appreciate all the support! Best of luck to you too
Dude your videos have been so awesome!!
Favorit climbing content ever, amazing job man
Thank god Climbers crag was just a phase. Congratulations on finishing law school. I hope to see an occasional Ascentionism video in the future.
Ahaha Climbers Crag was an incredible experience and it definitely made me better as a writer... but there'll always be something pure and close to my heart about my artsy titles and Powerpoint-designed thumbnails :)
Your videos are always awesome. Probably won't be in Calgary anytime soon, but if you're ever in Yosemite, beer's on me. Congrats on law school.
Ayyy I'm always looking for an excuse to head to the Valley, might be down there sometime in late June if you'd be around
@@ascentionism sounds like a plan. 👍
If you fail out of law school in that last semester you could do this UA-cam thing! You’re really good at it! Love your videos!! Will miss the content. In all seriousness, good luck!
Ayy, congrats on almost being out of school, thanks for all of the entertainment and education.
What ?! I thought each of your videos had 1 million views, not 15K each xD your content is SO good, literally a hidden gem of the climbing scene, thank you so much for all of your hard work and amazing storylines and analysis, and I wish you the best of luck being a lawyer !! Maybe give us an update video in the future?? :) Your videos are top tier, 5.14c/5
Keep going dude! Nice vid, you have been doing👌
great analysis! congrasts!!
Great video, only noticed a single audio mistake throughout the whole vid. incredibly interesting and well paced. Great job:)))
thanks for the vids man you really helped learn more about the rock climbing community you will be missed even if it is just a brake for now
Really love the channel thank you for everything you did !
Btw Ill be visiting banf ans canemore in early july ! Alberta look truly amazing 🧗⛰️
Shoot me an email and we can climb something!! I'll be in town
fuck dude I just started getting into your channel content! I'm about to head into law school and have been thinking about putting some content online for things I think about. Good to see your journey was fulfilling :)
Oh man, how bittersweet this was. Thanks for all of the unique content and great storytelling, it's been a pleasure to see it pop into my feed each time. Hopefully you have the time and interest to keep it going, but regardless, I wish you well and hope we can share a rope one day! My todo list near Canmore is a mile long!!
Ay man, I was hoping you would drop a comment!! I want to say thank you so much for how much you've engaged with the channel and helped me grow as a creator.
Any time you're in town, hit me up! Would love to share a rope
Thanks for the great stories and good luck in the future. You seem way too nice to be a lawyer!
We're not ALL bad!!
(either that or I just haven't been in the profession long enough to get corrupted)
Thank YOU for the content :)
Hope I can make it to Canada one day. Or you let me know if you ever come to Font or Magic Wood!
Jojo!!!
Come out to Squamish sometime, you'll learn how to handjam and you would love all the bouldering there ;) Alternatively, Font and Magic are definitely on my travel list, and you'll be the first person I hit up if I ever buy that plane ticket
Thanks for all the support man, how's that 8A goal going??
@@ascentionism Touched my 8A project last November. Went surprisingly good, but still a long way to go. Will probably give it more attention in 2024, but for now I'll focus more on C/+ :D
another great video! congrats and good luck for the beginning of your career! I ll stay a subscriber in the hope that one day, bored by too much vacation maybe, you will make a new one ;) happy climbing mate
Thanks man!! Happy climbing :)
For the Rockets, the strategy also failed because teams started to ignore 2-point defense and focus on guarding the 3-point line
At least I have free beer when I go climbing in Alberta...
Good luck man, thank you for your time, remember us sometimes...
The rock quality may be mediocre but we do have a lot of good beer! Shoot me an email if you're ever around
@@ascentionism I'm on the other side of the world, but nothing is impossible... :)
If you ever come to Montenegro beer is on me... But rocks are perfect...
Wish you all the best...
I hope you'll be on the side of good while you're doing your job...
Love your channel!!!
Thank to this channel even beginner climbers become pros thank you
Really cool videos, thanks!
Surprised to hear you live in calgary, i do as well. Would be sick to link up and climb sometime.
Now way, that's sick! Taking a quick glance at your channel you're quite a bit stronger than I am but I'd always be down to climb sometime - I'm a Bolder guy but I'm looking to start getting outdoors on the weekends
Maybe knee bars and kneepads have been become more popular with European climbers, but it's been pretty standard technique in American crags like Rifle, Jailhouse and Maple canyon for over 20 years now.
Sad to see it was your last video
love ir channel. keep it up even if it means one upload a year
BRO I CANT EVEN WATCH ROCK CLIMBING VIDEOS WITHOUT MY WORST ROCKETS MEMORY BEING BROUGHT UP
nowhere is safe from 0-27
Adam is a pretty smart dude and has a very positive mindset which makes him kind of a climbing machine
we'll miss you! good luck!!
"This video is not about kneebars"
*proceeds to talk about kneebars for 7 minutes
Good luck on the exams !!!
so cute message in the end
Make up honey its new ascentionism
Babe wake up a new climbing styles just dropped
I think you did an excellent job describing all the little different ways in which Ondra gets an edge in his climbing. But I don't think the epithet you chose to summarize this is pertinent. I would rather have picked something like "The (all-encompassing) Optimizer".
I don’t think about just classifying moves as high percentage or low percentage. I think it’s better consider reward as well. So I see moves as high percentage low reward, high percentage high reward, low percentage low reward, and low percentage high reward. Ideally all of the moves I make would be high percentage high reward and I would never make a low percentage low reward move. High percentage low reward is my second most favoured but low percentage high reward is acceptable if I don’t have a high percentage move available
Always loved your content king, now i just have to hope I get sued so you can be my lawyer....
Praying u get sued so you have to hire me and we have an excuse to hang out more
Hi there, these films have been so rewarding to watch. Good luck with your career in law. But I hope that you manage to find a little time to sustain this channel, even i post a month would be a treat to look forward to. :-)
No mention of his dynamic, low percentage style movement, especially on onsights?
Good luck dude!
Thanks man!!
Curious to see your connection to gambling with Ondra whereas from your breakdown I see more of a connection to Team Sky cycling's marginal gains philosophy
Great job!
I had no idea you were from Calgary what gym do you climb at
