But SUPAH, if I activate Tsukinogi Alter S3 exactly as the boss steps 4/5ths into the tile where I placed the Vigil Alter Wolfpack then I am able to activate her talent 2 and generate enough stacks of invisibility removal by having her constantly proc attacks on a stainless turret and then place down Surtr to benefit from the buff and kill it 0.6s faster than if I hadn't done all that. You're just using her wrong, I bet you don't even have her M9 Module 3 200% trust lvl 90.

@@magieclan6325 As an AH enjoyer, she was that bad that she needed modules (and even then, her 2nd module is better generally) and another specific operator with a certain module to fix her problem. Well I can't get into depth to it but this is a generalized way of how I look at it. Wanna use her S2? NTR does it better since she ignores deployment limit and has def ignore talent while also blocking certain amount of hits. Wanna use her S3? Surtr does it better because it has multi-target, a good chunk of HP boost and a huge atk modifier that you only have to wait for like, what? 5-6 seconds to acivate, not to mention, it's ARTS. Compared to Skadi's S3 that needs you to wait for 30 seconds or something just to activate it. And besides, her 2nd talent has a -10 redeloyment timer but it wasn't anything useful to her niche until the modules came up and upgraded it into -30 And talking about Gladiia, it's a goddamn broken module that I don't think we have to discuss how strong is that unconditional 30% dmg reduction with a good maxHP regen per second is, pretty much making all AH members into meatshields. Pretty much if you want Skadi to be in peak form, you need to bring the rest of the AH squad with fully upgraded modules
i mean you have 12 (+1) slots and a lot of good support and utility units, i don't think bringing few non-meta ops that you like would hinder you too much. there are a lot of easily available meta units that can carry as well, and most welfare and free units are pretty decent. you don't need surtr or ling to clear the game.
Yeah or meta chase and make games worse...it's the idea of using what you are given. And she isn't the best but she is ok. Nobody is or showed up to say she's objectively the best but literally arknights is more than beating something solo otherwise, yeah...it is an easy game.
I think the correct phrase would be something like "there're no UNUSABLE operators". I mean, when you get 12 slots to carry whoever you want, no matter how Frostleaf-adjacent they're, you can use pretty much anyone you like.

@@godo2712 There really should be an operator trial like in Mihoyo games where every time a banner comes, they let players try out the on banner operators with a brief introduction at the start. This way people may know a little bit more about how the operator is to be used and their unique gimmicks, before shoving them into the factory and return to using the regulars.
@@Wasdxz_1-1I don't think i will help. 1. Arknights is more game about teams, then genshin or HSR. You have 3 times more members in your teams and FAR more synergy between them. Maybe some operators can be showcased (Surtr, Texalter or another dps unit), but majority are not. 2. Even at HSR or Genshin showcases are cringe( take example Rosaria, she always with phys Dragonspine spear, or Kokomi). They always give you very much energy, weak enemy and so on. But the idea of this still good. I want something similar in Arknights too, just don't know how to do it properly.

Not everyone is like this but when I asked "who do I build" a lot of people were just like "waifu over meta" instead of giving a good answer. Like bitch I just started playing, my skill ranks are at 5 or some shit and almost everyone is e1 lvl 40. I'm hard struggling while trying to beat event stages for the mats, I don't care about these goofy ass ops that sit there and look pretty. And I've had like one or two people who were being somewhat condescending at me for using meta operators. And they were like "(niche bad operator) >>> (meta op)" Yeah your niche operator might be good when they have e2 lvl 90 lvl 3 module and m3 skills while you're limiting your squad to only certain operators like "only male operators that look like they would get anal prolapse at age 34 Cc11 risk 28" but I can't really afford to max out stupid units. Everyone assumes you have like 300 million lmd (and mats too) so you can afford to level up ops that aren't good in game and aren't my preference
Since you're new, one advice I can give you is E2 one of your 4 star, preferably Myrtle since you WILL use her in a long run, then borrow Ling in support unit and learn to use her. Ling can clear most stages solo either main story or event, so stack up your resources especially LMD till you can upgrade your good operators
Look, the "There are no bad operators, just bad doctors" is a wrong statement but its still SSS tier meme. Also notice this. You mention often like 5-10 examples in a game with over 250 operators. This means that most barring very few (like those perfectly valid examples) are either good or at least can find moment to shine. This even includes three or even two star operators! The game balance is well done even when it rips on the seams (especially if you include limited units) and there are archetypes that just doesnt work (crusher, brawler) in vast majority of cases (and even then I found few great uses for non-Mountain brawlers. The chapter 11 trees are good example), but compared to most games where over 50% of units might as well swim in the trashcan this is very good achievement. After all theres over 250 units, balancing them all is practically impossible. In fact game makes good attempts to balance this (in some places... not in others). For example there was issue for quite some time that marksmen and brawlers were generally not as good late-game due to high-def units roaming everywhere. Now things go better with units that needs to be hit X amount of times (the What is Real stuff or the Reed event ghosts for example) or adding few units with huge HP and low defence (trees, IS mode chests, those IS2 red mages), flat attack buffs (alter skadi for example) or making multiple types of healers for many situations (fighting different problems like lack of HP, statuses or elemental damage). I'd say game has great balance, but we also can't pretend all is perfect. After all quartz exist which is some inbred version of Matoimaru+Estelle that brings nothing to the table. Not sure why it exists. Even Frostleaf has ranged bind at least! (still quite rare to have, its just skill uptime is uber dogshit). Vigil also had good ideas, they are just poorly executed (multiple-life wolves could work on paper and serve as cheap version of shield). Honestly the worst units are not those who are weak or unbalanced one one way or another but those who are just very boring in desing. Looking at you, Flamebringer...
Tbh recognizing, acknowledging and accepting that something sucks is step 1 in actually fixing it. If everyone stoped coping and focused on asking HG to buff/fix/change shit, it'd be more likely to happen, instead we have ppl going "n-no this horrible thing is good actually, i dont want to get better"
if only that was the case, most of the time, people shit on other units just to validate the meta so they feel better cause of their decisions but the truth is, arknights is one of the most balanced gacha game in terms of units yet we have so many backseaters wanting to impose their playstyle on others. By balanced i mean that HG tries a lot to make each unit viable and have their niche, so if ever YOU wanted to use a specific low tier unit, you can, but you have to use your brain to make it work, I can't speak the same to other games i've played. Plus why do people insist the value on units as individuals, play a mix of meta and low tier, units don't have to be broken to be of value.

I don't disagree that some units are shit, even if usable, but when people go about how bad or shit a unit is, more often than not it feels like they are doing what you described. Like, they don't necessarily have to, but somehow I've gotten to the point I very quickly feel like they do. Listen, I'm not trying to say that Vigil doesn't need to be fixed, or that Frostleaf doesn't need to be fixed or Windchimes. Or rather their successors need to do things better, as the most improvement one could hope for on the actual unit would be a module, and there's only so much a module can do. But this does to me not mean they are „just plain bad“, if said like that, to me it sounds like shitting (not in a funny way) on units for bad reasons (very often at least).
As a sarkazknights player, you get used to the whole spectrum. You have the meta op (surtr, mudrock, ifrit, nightingale), the actually not bad/quite good op (vigna, flamebringer, midnight) and the paprika I swear to god I never use paprika. Most of the time, I just end up using nightingale, warfarin or even hibiscus. I just can't seem to find any use for her
Paprika is principally used to season and color rice, stews, and soups, such as goulash, and in the preparation of sausages such as Spanish chorizo, mixed with meats and other spices. 👍👍

"There are no bad operators, just better operators" is the better take for this AK dilemma. I love Frostleaf but even I am aware that she is bad, really bad that only an OP module or an OP Alter can save her (please HyperGryph). But that doesn't stop me from appreciating her E2 art, her profile, and her fight against FrostNova (The moment I fell in love with her). We just have to accept and not be an elitist that there are just better operators capable of beating the game easily and conveniently.
Sadly, she's a 4-star so her module will probably only do something like "Has bigger stats" (okay, admittedly, if the "bigger stats" is ASPD or SP regen then it would be fine)
You gotta be a bad doctor if you list a bunch of good 4* and then neglect to include Perfurmer. She's legit one of the best healers out there, when you max her out, her passive regeneration is pretty absurd. That regeneration allows you so much more flexibility with placing operators that don't have self sustain but will otherwise get whittled down over time. With her s2 active, the regen just goes straight up brrrr. Plus it synergizes extremely well with operators like Mudrock. Stack her with Angelina for the true Regenknights experience. Wake up Doctors! Accept the nice smelling fox into your life!
i don't have skalter so she keeps my penance healthy- i'll get her module for more penancegaming. i also have to build heidi for more durability (i know there's sora, but i just really love heidi and her design).
That's why you have to be in good community to know what you should do before going lost, they will guide you and make sure you can enjoy the game like most of they did
"Meta doesn't matter in PVE" games - I digress. It's not only a pve game, it's a gacha game. And unless you have a spare couple hundred bucks per banner, you probably will be managing your resources and want to use them carefully and wise. You wouldn't want to pull for a bad character when a good or meta character can, potentially, change your whole playstyle and how easy and stress free for you to achieve goals.
This argument is endemic in basically every gacha that isn't heavily PVP focused or mega power-creepy (where it quickly becomes apparent that it isn't true). I like your vids because you're one of the few content creators to go against it.
It's a fight fire with fire issue. You have one group of people who arrogantly trash the favourite units of others that don't fall into their meta, and then the other group trashing on them, saying they suck because they don't know how to succeed with a non-optimal unit. If you don't want people to come at you with this comment, just be more tactful with your wording. If you're gonna trash talk a unit some people like, then be prepared to get trash talked back by them.
The big thing I really hate about this whole ̶a̶r̶g̶u̶m̶e̶n̶t̶ delusion is when you say a unit is bad/suboptimal/anything of the kind, people just completely strawman you and make the malicious assumption that you are saying that non-meta = non-viable, unusable trash that will somehow instantly fail you the map when you deploy that operator. To avoid pointless arguments over this kind of thing, I always try to work in the disclaimers of "you are free to build whoever you like", "you are free to use whoever you like", "you are free to use them however you wish", etc. But it's so obvious people see "bad" and instantly see red and stop reading any of what you say. They just instantly default to super defensive toxicity and spit venom at you and start parroting the same rehearsed lines of "You can't tell me who I can or can't use. I'll build whoever I like and I've had more fun in the game like that. People like you telling me who to build are toxic. (Insert 20 lines of direct ad hominem attacks). You are the problem. You are toxic."
This, this is why i start to avoid that kind of conversation. I just silently judge the new operator and i build them myself without flaunting to everyone. The ops are mine so i do what i like to do.
The trick is to make you point first, then say they're bad. This works 2% at a time since most people then forget about everything except you calling their ops bad.
Tbf there are also plenty of people who will claim that 90% of all 5* & 6* operators are trash not worth building. Not that I care too much, 93 E2 operators and counting.
I used to believe this phrase back when i was just a newplayer at year 1 and did the worst thing ever, e2 ing beehunter and pulling for skadi guard. From then i learnt a lesson to only raise the operator i like and the one that fit my gameplay, my gameplay is more of a static gameplay so i search for good staller and consistent dps. I think supah also forgot the last point, each dokutah have different play style, and different playstyle impact how they use their operator greatly.
theres definitely a point to be made that when talking about bad operators there arent really more than a handful of operators above 3*s who are so awful that they're objectively bad even in a vacuum. like every time bad operators are discussed its the usual suspects (frostleaf, quartz, vigil, skadi guard, etc.) that are mentioned, but outside of those dozen or so trash units everybody does have a use case. for example, even though shes worse than gummy, saria still has a niche of being a melee unit that can slow enemies and heal allies and she even gives some sp anybody trying to argue that the quintessentially awful units arent bad is clearly on crack, but its impressive that arknights is a game where like 80% or so of operators are usable in one way or another
I really like Vigil as a character, I think his E2 looks very cool. But as an operator I just use him to support Fang because she is the better DP battery

8:01 it's funny you should use those two specifically, as when I was starting the game, I'd somehow gotten SilverAsh before Beehunter. I did not notice this, as I really wanted Beehunter cuz she's what drew me to the game. I proceeded to raise her ahead of Silverash when I got them both, and was shocked to find out that I actually had him when I needed him. I barely use Beehunter. I have no regrets.

Yeah, the sentiment has always bothered me. There are clearly bad ops, you can feel it even in the early game (like trying to use earth spirit after using orchid, thinking 'higher stars = better') but asking for advice back then, rather than being told to concetrate on better ops you'd just be told use her better. Any chance of discussing Arknights' weird issue with NOT giving the player information? You know, like, obfuscating enemy stats through their weird letter system, their attack radiates being 'lol figure it out' (I STILL constantly get surprised by this. Like the recent annigilation I forgot how far those robots could shoot), if you dont pay attention to the line thats on the screen for all of 2 seconds you wont know the enemy pathing (which also has issues of occasionally confusing the player if multiple types of enemies with different pathing come out of the same box), the fact you cant check it mid battle or if you're going into it the first time blind.... I remember seeing a reddit post on someone photoshopping a mid battle screen whede you hit a button up top, like the pause or speed up button, and then instead of allies you could tap enemies and itd show their stats, range for normal attacks and abilities, a line for their pathing, and abilities like it would for one of your operators. I thought it was cool, but I remember some of the comments baffling me with... i cant remember the exact phrasing, but I think the sentiment was "no, this would make it too cluttered." Its the same info you get for operators plus a little extra! Just for the enemy! Why NOT have more info?!
I got worried about Arknights community when I read a comment on a Kyo vid (because for some reason I like watching him clearing stuff after Ive already spent my irl sanity trying to clear) and they said "wow you guys are so good, I need so many 6*s and youre here with only one" like this was the normal way of playing the game lol I instantly had to comment that Kyo does that to show that it is possible to clear stuff with mostly low end ops to encourage ppl to try something they would before consider impossible but the mentality of "using more than one 6* = bad player" is just... concerning imo, you dont need to restrain yourself that much or else youre a noob, if you think about a strategy and it uses all your best ops, be proud of it, you solved the puzzle without a guide, thats already better than almost half of this community it seems.

Hey SUPAH, great video. I was watching the Quartz video too where you and Silvergun were comparing crushers to centurions and Mushas and whatever. Could you make a video on the Musha archetype? They're a branch that feels like aren't really "weak" per se but suffer from the DPSification of AK just like defenders do. They usually have high dps but are way too single target focused and can't reliably lanehold because of their single block.
but supah Skadi guard is not that bad especially when she has 30% dmg reduction, 40% max hp, 3.5% max hp regen, 20ASPD, 22% ATK, When defeated does not retreat, instead recovers hp instead, However max HP -60% and ASPD +30 (Can only activate once every deployment)
Isn't it the same for you too?^^ I mean, speaking from a strictly meta perspective (not including waifu factors, i repeat) there's little reason to raise Gummy over Saria or even Nearl if you have them unless you like doing low rarity clears or just started and want to invest more in dps, not healers/tanks and just want some1 cheap to fill a slot.
6:26 Honestly this "Just level up someone you like" is a pretty common bad advice for new players, not just for Arknights but most gacha games in general. I made it a habit to search for a tier list(if possible) whenever I start a new gacha game, not because I'm a metaslave in all the gacha games I play but I just need to get a grasp on knowing where the line is drawn for good and bad characters for gameplay, so I don't mindlessly pour all the newbie resources into a character that can't carry me and lose interest because of that. (imagine a new player making Vigil as the first E2 lmao)

This video feels so out of place because it feels like barely anyone said that phrase anymore past the 6 month mark of the game especially after the first CC dropped. You still have some people coping here and there like thinking that Gummy is even comparable to other healing defenders who are objectively better but for the most part this sentiment hasn't been popular for years.

If you think Frostleaf, Quartz or Vigil is bad in a vacuum, it just means your vacuum isn't perfect. You'll need to remove all Lords and single target snipers. Then, that's a better vacuum for Frostleaf. You have no alternatives. You'll need to remove all guards, vanguards, defenders and specialists. Then, Quartz is in a very good vacuum. You'll need to remove all 6 stars to make Vigil not the worse 6 star ever. Simple. That said, there will always be "the worst 6 star".
I knew it was the doctor's fault when I once followed a Kyostin video and I just used high rarity ops. Realized I couldn't beat the level because they costed so much I didn't have enough dp to deploy in time. I'm a new doctor now and still f2p

You don't understand how old this meme is. FGO EN is 6 years old. The meme is essentially older than Arknights itself. Anyone still playing FGO would immediately understand what a meme that is, because you can't buff-stack or solo against bosses like Cernunnos with Cu Chulainn anymore. The difficulty has inflated that characters ARE being left behind. When was the last time you last heard Kyo say "activate Melantha skill?"
As much as i dislike fgo and turned bitter from it, I still respect the waifu/hasbando mentality of grailing units of people have in fgo. I'd take the fgo community any day than ak's because of this. People have optimized the fun out of the game so much that we forget that loving characters in a gacha game is normal.

Casually using Skadi Guard well its really hurt when Supah repeat the Skadi Guard as the bad , honestly he is right use Skadi guard almost everytime and yeah you having fun but the struggle of pass the stage just crack it. So yeah Do It At Your Own Risk.
I have a friend who quit the game because it was too hard on them. They only leveled waifus for the most part which were either mid ops or worse and not even have decent high investment into them to actually clear hard stages. I gave em advice to help clear it by leveling up meta ops they had first over waifu ones, similarly to how SUPAH explained in the video but they refused. Like, don't be angry then that you can't beat any of the stages then quit the game if you don't level higher tier ops first so you can carry your bad ops and later fully invest in them to lvl90, and max out everything on them so they dont feel as bad and make you struggle on every stage to complete it.

as a maxed abyssal hunter team builder, i stilla gree that skadi is a terrbile 6 star. Dont get me wrong she is extremely powerful being able to solo tallulah when fully upgrade, and yes fully "UPGRADED", that mean you have to get specter alter, Gladia and the CEO, and you also have to max skadi's level and everyone else's modules. Does the upgrade still pay off? fuck yeah its the safest team i can bring to any stage, but it prob be in the 5% player base who actually acquirred all of the characters. I wish they made skadi an unlockable in one of the sub story for easier access since she on her self is pretty terrible calling her self a 6 star

There are... not so great operators in the game. Though the definition of good and bad differs from person to person. Many operators that others would call bad can be fun to use , Arknights is nice in that it does not limit you to just one or two strategies in 99% of battles. But yeah the number of usable strategies depend on operatos that we have and the investment in them. And there are operatos that are definetelly frustrating to use - those I personally consider bad. For example, one that people do not usually speak about Carnelian. She has the absolutely coolest design, or at least one of the coolest designs out there not just in Arknights imo, including her costumes, but as gameplay goes... you would expect something like Angelina where the wait is absolutely worth it, but Carnelian's overall perfomance is not something to write home about. As a reminder, she is a modal caster that does not do anything, has doubled defense and then attacks everyone around when skills are active. Except Carnelian has to wait extra time to do any meaningful damage. Her defensive capabilities are also outclassed by Beeswas that just naturally recovers health, while carnelian has to activate a skill to heal... with those extra wait times, which further screws up with her damage.
I've been playing arknights for a pretty long time now, like 4 years or so, and I... honestly agree with Supah, I personally first focused on my 6* and 5* (blue poison, silence and ptilopsis, and honeyberry) and one 4* (cuora), and currently, I am at a level where all I have to do is just grind materials to upgrade my newer operators and such, so yea, it worked out for me, however it was incredibly time consuming and I'd be lying if I said there was no outside help, so as Supah said, max out some of the best 4* as mentioned and then focus on some better higher rarity operators, I personally think its fine if you use guides on some stages like, try clearing an entire stage with the Patriot boss as a newbie using only 4* and 3* WITHOUT looking up a guide, but you should really try to think an entire strategy through, if you really only need originium prime, then use guides, but then try replaying the same stage while thinking of a strategy to use there, remember, there are bad operators AND bad doctors, its never one or the other, its always both.
Vigil is pretty fun, you just plop him down with S2. Wait for an eternity to get 12 dp then banish him to the shadow realm, never knowing the light of day ever again as Myrtle levitates her apple and summons Blemishine and 2 Juggernaut Defenders.

me, who loves skadi guard: I feel attacked, but yet ignore it as I want to listen further my view on the meta was: you can technical do everything what the basegame offers with every operator, but if you go into harder content, like extreme event levels or cc, then you get damm good in the game to use the potential of your squad or build at least your own team to fit to it, or you use the meta you may can still do it with your random squad probally, but it sure will be at the same level as going for a certain playstyle (like vanguard knights, horse knighs etc) - if it doesn't contain some meta/very good operators but for most content: take your operator that you like and play, try stuff out and if you want put one or two good ones into it and about waifu over meta: well it's almost the same: have 1-2 good operator in your squad that you max out, then it shouldn't be a big problem to have your waifu on your site of course you can't say it in general, as it depends what your waifu is and what for good operator you pick, but mostly it's a good way of thumb to go for it

But SUPAH, if I activate Tsukinogi Alter S3 exactly as the boss steps 4/5ths into the tile where I placed the Vigil Alter Wolfpack then I am able to activate her talent 2 and generate enough stacks of invisibility removal by having her constantly proc attacks on a stainless turret and then place down Surtr to benefit from the buff and kill it 0.6s faster than if I hadn't done all that.

As an AH enjoyer, she was that bad that she needed modules (and even then, her 2nd module is better generally) and another specific operator with a certain module to fix her problem.
Well I can't get into depth to it but this is a generalized way of how I look at it.
Wanna use her S2? NTR does it better since she ignores deployment limit and has def ignore talent while also blocking certain amount of hits.
Wanna use her S3? Surtr does it better because it has multi-target, a good chunk of HP boost and a huge atk modifier that you only have to wait for like, what? 5-6 seconds to acivate, not to mention, it's ARTS. Compared to Skadi's S3 that needs you to wait for 30 seconds or something just to activate it.
And besides, her 2nd talent has a -10 redeloyment timer but it wasn't anything useful to her niche until the modules came up and upgraded it into -30
And talking about Gladiia, it's a goddamn broken module that I don't think we have to discuss how strong is that unconditional 30% dmg reduction with a good maxHP regen per second is, pretty much making all AH members into meatshields.
Pretty much if you want Skadi to be in peak form, you need to bring the rest of the AH squad with fully upgraded modules

i mean you have 12 (+1) slots and a lot of good support and utility units, i don't think bringing few non-meta ops that you like would hinder you too much. there are a lot of easily available meta units that can carry as well, and most welfare and free units are pretty decent. you don't need surtr or ling to clear the game.

there are people who don't know there are operators in the game that can Taunt, or Mark, or give Invisibility, or do weird things like pushing enemies at 90 degree angle (Enforcer)
and most of all, a lot of people don't know what majority of units in the game do coz they use the same set of operators every time, so when some specific situation comes out - they don't know who to borrow or what to do
i've seen quite a few comments during FC event about "i can't stall the boss, my units keep dying to her" coz they don't have concept of HP-tanking, etc etc

This way people may know a little bit more about how the operator is to be used and their unique gimmicks, before shoving them into the factory and return to using the regulars.

Maybe some operators can be showcased (Surtr, Texalter or another dps unit), but majority are not. 2. Even at HSR or Genshin showcases are cringe( take example Rosaria, she always with phys Dragonspine spear, or Kokomi). They always give you very much energy, weak enemy and so on. But the idea of this still good. I want something similar in Arknights too, just don't know how to do it properly.

Not everyone is like this but when I asked "who do I build" a lot of people were just like "waifu over meta" instead of giving a good answer. Like bitch I just started playing, my skill ranks are at 5 or some shit and almost everyone is e1 lvl 40. I'm hard struggling while trying to beat event stages for the mats, I don't care about these goofy ass ops that sit there and look pretty.

Yeah your niche operator might be good when they have e2 lvl 90 lvl 3 module and m3 skills while you're limiting your squad to only certain operators like "only male operators that look like they would get anal prolapse at age 34 Cc11 risk 28" but I can't really afford to max out stupid units. Everyone assumes you have like 300 million lmd (and mats too) so you can afford to level up ops that aren't good in game and aren't my preference
Since you're new, one advice I can give you is E2 one of your 4 star, preferably Myrtle since you WILL use her in a long run, then borrow Ling in support unit and learn to use her. Ling can clear most stages solo either main story or event, so stack up your resources especially LMD till you can upgrade your good operators

Look, the "There are no bad operators, just bad doctors" is a wrong statement but its still SSS tier meme.
Also notice this. You mention often like 5-10 examples in a game with over 250 operators. This means that most barring very few (like those perfectly valid examples) are either good or at least can find moment to shine. This even includes three or even two star operators!
The game balance is well done even when it rips on the seams (especially if you include limited units) and there are archetypes that just doesnt work (crusher, brawler) in vast majority of cases (and even then I found few great uses for non-Mountain brawlers. The chapter 11 trees are good example), but compared to most games where over 50% of units might as well swim in the trashcan this is very good achievement. After all theres over 250 units, balancing them all is practically impossible.
In fact game makes good attempts to balance this (in some places... not in others). For example there was issue for quite some time that marksmen and brawlers were generally not as good late-game due to high-def units roaming everywhere. Now things go better with units that needs to be hit X amount of times (the What is Real stuff or the Reed event ghosts for example) or adding few units with huge HP and low defence (trees, IS mode chests, those IS2 red mages), flat attack buffs (alter skadi for example) or making multiple types of healers for many situations (fighting different problems like lack of HP, statuses or elemental damage).
I'd say game has great balance, but we also can't pretend all is perfect. After all quartz exist which is some inbred version of Matoimaru+Estelle that brings nothing to the table. Not sure why it exists. Even Frostleaf has ranged bind at least! (still quite rare to have, its just skill uptime is uber dogshit). Vigil also had good ideas, they are just poorly executed (multiple-life wolves could work on paper and serve as cheap version of shield).
Honestly the worst units are not those who are weak or unbalanced one one way or another but those who are just very boring in desing. Looking at you, Flamebringer...

if only that was the case, most of the time, people shit on other units just to validate the meta so they feel better cause of their decisions but the truth is, arknights is one of the most balanced gacha game in terms of units yet we have so many backseaters wanting to impose their playstyle on others. By balanced i mean that HG tries a lot to make each unit viable and have their niche, so if ever YOU wanted to use a specific low tier unit, you can, but you have to use your brain to make it work, I can't speak the same to other games i've played. Plus why do people insist the value on units as individuals, play a mix of meta and low tier, units don't have to be broken to be of value.

Listen, I'm not trying to say that Vigil doesn't need to be fixed, or that Frostleaf doesn't need to be fixed or Windchimes. Or rather their successors need to do things better, as the most improvement one could hope for on the actual unit would be a module, and there's only so much a module can do.
But this does to me not mean they are „just plain bad“, if said like that, to me it sounds like shitting (not in a funny way) on units for bad reasons (very often at least).
As a sarkazknights player, you get used to the whole spectrum. You have the meta op (surtr, mudrock, ifrit, nightingale), the actually not bad/quite good op (vigna, flamebringer, midnight) and the paprika
I swear to god I never use paprika. Most of the time, I just end up using nightingale, warfarin or even hibiscus. I just can't seem to find any use for her
Paprika is principally used to season and color rice, stews, and soups, such as goulash, and in the preparation of sausages such as Spanish chorizo, mixed with meats and other spices.

She's a healer, and that's it. If she's healing one or two ops, she out-heals AoE medics, and then she pretty much breaks even at 3 targets.

I love Frostleaf but even I am aware that she is bad, really bad that only an OP module or an OP Alter can save her (please HyperGryph). We just have to accept and not be an elitist that there are just better operators capable of beating the game easily and conveniently.

You gotta be a bad doctor if you list a bunch of good 4* and then neglect to include Perfurmer. She's legit one of the best healers out there, when you max her out, her passive regeneration is pretty absurd. That regeneration allows you so much more flexibility with placing operators that don't have self sustain but will otherwise get whittled down over time. With her s2 active, the regen just goes straight up brrrr. Plus it synergizes extremely well with operators like Mudrock. Stack her with Angelina for the true Regenknights experience.

"Meta doesn't matter in PVE" games - I digress. It's not only a pve game, it's a gacha game. And unless you have a spare couple hundred bucks per banner, you probably will be managing your resources and want to use them carefully and wise. You wouldn't want to pull for a bad character when a good or meta character can, potentially, change your whole playstyle and how easy and stress free for you to achieve goals.
This argument is endemic in basically every gacha that isn't heavily PVP focused or mega power-creepy (where it quickly becomes apparent that it isn't true). I like your vids because you're one of the few content creators to go against it.
For new player just use gummy.

You have one group of people who arrogantly trash the favourite units of others that don't fall into their meta, and then the other group trashing on them, saying they suck because they don't know how to succeed with a non-optimal unit. If you don't want people to come at you with this comment, just be more tactful with your wording. If you're gonna trash talk a unit some people like, then be prepared to get trash talked back by them.

The big thing I really hate about this whole ̶a̶r̶g̶u̶m̶e̶n̶t̶ delusion is when you say a unit is bad/suboptimal/anything of the kind, people just completely strawman you and make the malicious assumption that you are saying that non-meta = non-viable, unusable trash that will somehow instantly fail you the map when you deploy that operator. To avoid pointless arguments over this kind of thing, I always try to work in the disclaimers of "you are free to build whoever you like", "you are free to use whoever you like", "you are free to use them however you wish", etc. But it's so obvious people see "bad" and instantly see red and stop reading any of what you say. They just instantly default to super defensive toxicity and spit venom at you and start parroting the same rehearsed lines of "You can't tell me who I can or can't use. I'll build whoever I like and I've had more fun in the game like that. People like you telling me who to build are toxic. (Insert 20 lines of direct ad hominem attacks). You are the problem. You are toxic."
This, this is why i start to avoid that kind of conversation. I just silently judge the new operator and i build them myself without flaunting to everyone. The ops are mine so i do what i like to do.
The trick is to make you point first, then say they're bad. This works 2% at a time since most people then forget about everything except you calling their ops bad.

I used to believe this phrase back when i was just a newplayer at year 1 and did the worst thing ever, e2 ing beehunter and pulling for skadi guard.
From then i learnt a lesson to only raise the operator i like and the one that fit my gameplay, my gameplay is more of a static gameplay so i search for good staller and consistent dps.
I think supah also forgot the last point, each dokutah have different play style, and different playstyle impact how they use their operator greatly.
theres definitely a point to be made that when talking about bad operators there arent really more than a handful of operators above 3*s who are so awful that they're objectively bad even in a vacuum. like every time bad operators are discussed its the usual suspects (frostleaf, quartz, vigil, skadi guard, etc.) that are mentioned, but outside of those dozen or so trash units everybody does have a use case. for example, even though shes worse than gummy, saria still has a niche of being a melee unit that can slow enemies and heal allies and she even gives some sp

8:01 it's funny you should use those two specifically, as when I was starting the game, I'd somehow gotten SilverAsh before Beehunter. I did not notice this, as I really wanted Beehunter cuz she's what drew me to the game. I proceeded to raise her ahead of Silverash when I got them both, and was shocked to find out that I actually had him when I needed him. I barely use Beehunter. I have no regrets.

Yeah, the sentiment has always bothered me. There are clearly bad ops, you can feel it even in the early game (like trying to use earth spirit after using orchid, thinking 'higher stars = better') but asking for advice back then, rather than being told to concetrate on better ops you'd just be told use her better.
Any chance of discussing Arknights' weird issue with NOT giving the player information? You know, like, obfuscating enemy stats through their weird letter system, their attack radiates being 'lol figure it out' (I STILL constantly get surprised by this. Like the recent annigilation I forgot how far those robots could shoot), if you dont pay attention to the line thats on the screen for all of 2 seconds you wont know the enemy pathing (which also has issues of occasionally confusing the player if multiple types of enemies with different pathing come out of the same box), the fact you cant check it mid battle or if you're going into it the first time blind....
I remember seeing a reddit post on someone photoshopping a mid battle screen whede you hit a button up top, like the pause or speed up button, and then instead of allies you could tap enemies and itd show their stats, range for normal attacks and abilities, a line for their pathing, and abilities like it would for one of your operators. I thought it was cool, but I remember some of the comments baffling me with... i cant remember the exact phrasing, but I think the sentiment was "no, this would make it too cluttered." Its the same info you get for operators plus a little extra! Just for the enemy! Why NOT have more info?!

I got worried about Arknights community when I read a comment on a Kyo vid (because for some reason I like watching him clearing stuff after Ive already spent my irl sanity trying to clear) and they said "wow you guys are so good, I need so many 6*s and youre here with only one" like this was the normal way of playing the game lol I instantly had to comment that Kyo does that to show that it is possible to clear stuff with mostly low end ops to encourage ppl to try something they would before consider impossible but the mentality of "using more than one 6* = bad player" is just... concerning imo, you dont need to restrain yourself that much or else youre a noob, if you think about a strategy and it uses all your best ops, be proud of it, you solved the puzzle without a guide, thats already better than almost half of this community it seems.

Could you make a video on the Musha archetype? They're a branch that feels like aren't really "weak" per se but suffer from the DPSification of AK just like defenders do. They usually have high dps but are way too single target focused and can't reliably lanehold because of their single block.
but supah Skadi guard is not that bad especially when she has 30% dmg reduction, 40% max hp, 3.5% max hp regen, 20ASPD, 22% ATK, When defeated does not retreat, instead recovers hp instead, However max HP -60% and ASPD +30 (Can only activate once every deployment)

Isn't it the same for you too?^^ I mean, speaking from a strictly meta perspective (not including waifu factors, i repeat) there's little reason to raise Gummy over Saria or even Nearl if you have them unless you like doing low rarity clears or just started and want to invest more in dps, not healers/tanks and just want some1 cheap to fill a slot.
Gummy holds a pretty solid place in the IS2/3 rankings due to being a more cost-effective saria for early play

6:26 Honestly this "Just level up someone you like" is a pretty common bad advice for new players, not just for Arknights but most gacha games in general.
I made it a habit to search for a tier list(if possible) whenever I start a new gacha game, not because I'm a metaslave in all the gacha games I play but I just need to get a grasp on knowing where the line is drawn for good and bad characters for gameplay, so I don't mindlessly pour all the newbie resources into a character that can't carry me and lose interest because of that. (imagine a new player making Vigil as the first E2 lmao)

This video feels so out of place because it feels like barely anyone said that phrase anymore past the 6 month mark of the game especially after the first CC dropped. You still have some people coping here and there like thinking that Gummy is even comparable to other healing defenders who are objectively better but for the most part this sentiment hasn't been popular for years.

The phrase hasn't been a thing for years and it certainly isn't nearly as prominent as the video suggested. If there are bad operators then explain how i've made every operator in arknights that conistered "bad" work with only one ot two other operators in a way that alows me to clear even some of the tougher stages i've played so far
If you think Frostleaf, Quartz or Vigil is bad in a vacuum, it just means your vacuum isn't perfect.
You'll need to remove all Lords and single target snipers. Then, that's a better vacuum for Frostleaf. You have no alternatives.
You'll need to remove all guards, vanguards, defenders and specialists. Then, Quartz is in a very good vacuum.
You'll need to remove all 6 stars to make Vigil not the worse 6 star ever. Simple.
That said, there will always be "the worst 6 star".

I tried to google the origin of the phrase, and I got a Napoleon Bonaparte quote "There are no bad soldiers, only bad officers," but I think the actually relevant variation is the old FGO meme "There are no bad servants, only bad masters." You don't understand how old this meme is.
FGO EN is 6 years old. The meme is essentially older than Arknights itself. Back then, buff-stacking 2★Caligula to be your main damage dealer (using 5★ Merlin of course) could clear the hardest content. It was a time before break bar bosses with multiple phases/hp bars. Anyone still playing FGO would immediately understand what a meme that is, because you can't buff-stack or solo against bosses like Cernunnos with Cu Chulainn anymore.
The difficulty has inflated that characters ARE being left behind. When was the last time you last heard Kyo say "activate Melantha skill?"
As much as i dislike fgo and turned bitter from it, I still respect the waifu/hasbando mentality of grailing units of people have in fgo. I'd take the fgo community any day than ak's because of this. People have optimized the fun out of the game so much that we forget that loving characters in a gacha game is normal.
@@mendics Loving gacha units is ABNORMAL. FGO and Genshin thrives on that abnormality like a glorified idol industry. Most gacha with PVP aren't as popular but they are the norm. And the norm will grind non meta waifus to the dirt for even daring to breathe more than 3 seconds
ops being bad is one of the reasons i dont mind all the alters were getting i like executor but his normal version needs like half a team to support him to even be usable in difficult content
Casually using Skadi Guard well its really hurt when Supah repeat the Skadi Guard as the bad , honestly he is right use Skadi guard almost everytime and yeah you having fun but the struggle of pass the stage just crack it. So yeah Do It At Your Own Risk.
I have a friend who quit the game because it was too hard on them. They only leveled waifus for the most part which were either mid ops or worse and not even have decent high investment into them to actually clear hard stages. I gave em advice to help clear it by leveling up meta ops they had first over waifu ones, similarly to how SUPAH explained in the video but they refused.
Like, don't be angry then that you can't beat any of the stages then quit the game if you don't level higher tier ops first so you can carry your bad ops and later fully invest in them to lvl90, and max out everything on them so they dont feel as bad and make you struggle on every stage to complete it.

as a maxed abyssal hunter team builder, i stilla gree that skadi is a terrbile 6 star. Dont get me wrong she is extremely powerful being able to solo tallulah when fully upgrade, and yes fully "UPGRADED", that mean you have to get specter alter, Gladia and the CEO, and you also have to max skadi's level and everyone else's modules. Does the upgrade still pay off? fuck yeah its the safest team i can bring to any stage, but it prob be in the 5% player base who actually acquirred all of the characters. I wish they made skadi an unlockable in one of the sub story for easier access since she on her self is pretty terrible calling her self a 6 star

I really never understand people saying there is no bad operators if characters made for April's Fools like Conviction and U-Official are bad on purpose.
There are... not so great operators in the game. Though the definition of good and bad differs from person to person. Many operators that others would call bad can be fun to use , Arknights is nice in that it does not limit you to just one or two strategies in 99% of battles.
But yeah the number of usable strategies depend on operatos that we have and the investment in them.
And there are operatos that are definetelly frustrating to use - those I personally consider bad.
For example, one that people do not usually speak about Carnelian. She has the absolutely coolest design, or at least one of the coolest designs out there not just in Arknights imo, including her costumes, but as gameplay goes... you would expect something like Angelina where the wait is absolutely worth it, but Carnelian's overall perfomance is not something to write home about.
As a reminder, she is a modal caster that does not do anything, has doubled defense and then attacks everyone around when skills are active. Except Carnelian has to wait extra time to do any meaningful damage. Her defensive capabilities are also outclassed by Beeswas that just naturally recovers health, while carnelian has to activate a skill to heal... with those extra wait times, which further screws up with her damage.

I've been playing arknights for a pretty long time now, like 4 years or so, and I... honestly agree with Supah, I personally first focused on my 6* and 5* (blue poison, silence and ptilopsis, and honeyberry) and one 4* (cuora), and currently, I am at a level where all I have to do is just grind materials to upgrade my newer operators and such, so yea, it worked out for me, however it was incredibly time consuming and I'd be lying if I said there was no outside help, so as Supah said, max out some of the best 4* as mentioned and then focus on some better higher rarity operators, I personally think its fine if you use guides on some stages like, try clearing an entire stage with the Patriot boss as a newbie using only 4* and 3* WITHOUT looking up a guide, but you should really try to think an entire strategy through, if you really only need originium prime, then use guides, but then try replaying the same stage while thinking of a strategy to use there, remember, there are bad operators AND bad doctors, its never one or the other, its always both.

me, who loves skadi guard: I feel attacked, but yet ignore it as I want to listen further
my view on the meta was: you can technical do everything what the basegame offers with every operator, but if you go into harder content, like extreme event levels or cc, then you get damm good in the game to use the potential of your squad or build at least your own team to fit to it, or you use the meta
you may can still do it with your random squad probally, but it sure will be at the same level as going for a certain playstyle (like vanguard knights, horse knighs etc) - if it doesn't contain some meta/very good operators
but for most content: take your operator that you like and play, try stuff out and if you want put one or two good ones into it
and about waifu over meta: well it's almost the same: have 1-2 good operator in your squad that you max out, then it shouldn't be a big problem to have your waifu on your site
of course you can't say it in general, as it depends what your waifu is and what for good operator you pick, but mostly it's a good way of thumb to go for it
