- THE PRETTIEST TOWN IN ENGLAND: RYE// Happy Tuesday, Today we're sharing our visit to beautiful Rye in East Sussex. It's one of the prettiest towna in England and a must visit! If you make it to Rye, make sure to go up the tower of St. Mary's Church (if you're not afraid of heights and confined spaces of course); the views from up there are amazing! Kirsten & Jörg xx

Kirsten and Jorg---I am SO thankful for these lovely videos! You may not have any idea how many of us in other countries would absolutely LOVE to visit these villages---but cannot. And yet you two---are taking us there--and we can enjoy it vicariously through you. Many, many thanks! ♥
Perfectly said, Margie Tucker. That is exactly what I was feeling as I watched this video. Also, what absolutely AMAZED me is that such historically important places like this are devoid of CROWDS, which is so unusual here in America! It seemed so peaceful...
Idem from France
@@ultraviolet13881 - Rye, on the border between the southern English counties of Kent and Sussex, isn't really on the way to anywhere. The pretty little town sits in splendid isolation on top of a sandstone hill surrounded by miles of pancake-flat sheep pasture (Romney Marsh) whose human inhabitants were either drowned by the sea surges of the late 12th Century, or killed by the virulent Malaria epidemics of the mid 17th Century. Rye retained its railway station (on the Marshlink Line between Hastings and Ashford) because the road network in the area is so poor that a substitute public 'bus service could not be provided. During the Middle Ages the French kept sailing over and burning the place down, which is why Rye was eventually walled and gated. The town used to stand at the edge of the sea but now it's two miles from the nearest beach.
@@KempSimon Wow, those are some interesting historical facts!! Thank you so much for sharing them.

Very beautyful ,thank you both.❤
Really comforting
Lovely💕
I love it when the old style villages keep their old world charm. So precious and lovely to watch.
The town (sic) of Rye has changed very little over the past 250 years because it isn't really on the way to anywhere. It sits on a hill in the middle of a huge, pancake-flat reclaimed marsh now used for grazing thousands of sheep. The reason why Rye still has a railway station (on the Marshlink Line between Hastings and Ashford) is because the local road network is so poor. The medieval Mermaid Inn is well worth a visit. If I'm travelling by train between Chichester and Canterbury I break my journey at Rye so that I can call in at the Mermaid for lunch.
I love all you share ❤️
You are so dear, lovely video as always x

Aloha 🌺 Such a picturesque town!!! Thank you for a wonderful adventure!!🥰
England is so pretty with their houses, and gardens.
Oh my gosh. Those red sneakers! 😍😍😍
Glad you like them!
Oh I really enjoyed this! We were in Rye a few years ago for our son’s wedding. We stayed in a very tall old house on the Main Street. There wasn’t a straight wall or floor in the place it was so old, and there were beams and wood panelling everywhere. The legal ceremony for the wedding was at the town hall and included a town crier who was in full coat and hat, ringing his bell and announcing the marriage as he walked with the wedding party to a nearby hotel for the reception! Rye will always have a special place in our hearts x
I absolutely love this, such special memories!
That's fantastic ! What a wonderful memory ! Now I have to add Town Crier to the list if I get remarried lol .

I have been to Rye. I bought a blue skirt there, but I gave it to my British sister- in- law.
Rye is very walkable. I am sure I visited that chocolate shop!
Thank you, as always, for bringing your viewers along.
I loved the pink house and your teatime looked lovely!
I look forward to your videos, even though I see them out of order from when you filmed them. I might see a recent one, then view one from two years ago, then see one from a year ago.
But the experience is always great!
Hermoso lugar. Gracias por mostrarnos tantos pueblitos encantadores. ademas wisterias por todos lados, una de mis flores favoritas, ya quisiera estar alli frente al mar o en un salon de te, felicidades !!!
You make such an adorable couple. I love your channel ❤
Love seeing your out of way English towns and gardens. Wonderful escape.
We are here it’s wonderful !
Enjoy!❤️
Pretty old village made even prettier by the beautiful background music
How very very charming! I want to know, did you go back for Jorg to get his favorite beer? Somehow the town reminds me a bit of Victoria B.C. We live in WA State in the US and the closest to England we will ever get is just over the border to Canada. You two love-birds! You seem like newlyweds all the time, wherever you go, enjoying life and special moments together.I had almost forgotten how on our visit to “little England” as newlyweds half a century ago, my husband bought a six pack of Apple Jack to take home. I hope Jorg got his beer!! Thank you for sharing your adventure today. 💕from🇺🇸.
Oh i would love to go there 😍😍 Hello from Miami, United States. Love your videos.
Oh my god it's like going back in time.love it.....beautiful.
Thank-you for always remembering to photograph the flowers with such gentle tenderness. The filming inside the home of the writer was beautiful.Letting us see what you see.So appreciate the effort you put in.

Spring has definitely sprung there! The flowers and wisteria made my heart sing! The old shops were fun to see also. I think I need to make scones now because your tea time made me hungry for them. Until next time, Mary
