- Towing heavy for the first time with me new truck! 7.3 power stroke is gonna be my new daily driver and my FUMMINS will be me designated tow rig but decided to see how a stock 7.3 would pull lol

Not sure if you plan on it but just a simple tune makes these trucks a whole lot nicer to tow with will make more around the 25 pound range of boost and just like I said more enjoyable
You'll be replacing the transmission soon driving in over drive. Push the button on the end of the shifter to take it out of over drive. Congrats on purchase.
Love them older Fords my Opinion it’s the best looking body style other than the late 70s and the 7.3 was Cummins only competitor back then . I got a older friend that has a 95 7.3 and still pulls with it all the time. Nice truck . 👍
I’d rather pull with my 7.3 than anything else. Just an honest truck that does its job well
Saw 7.3 like yours in Mcgregor with 50 k original miles same color, visors, as your new one. Original owner in his 80s we met at gas pump. It was beautiful. Nice addition to your truck family by the way.
Nice truck. I have a 1996 Ford F-350 4x4 dump truck with 47,000 original miles.

I’ve got an almost twin truck. Thou mine stock was a 5 speed which I upgraded to the ZF6 in preparation for the a 4x4 swap as well as many other upgrades. Good looking rig, keep up the good content!!!
A zf6 would be fun in this truck but my other f350 is a zf6 and the idea of having an automatic daily sure is nice lol
@@thefumminspagerpope4452 oh I understand that! I daily my wife’s old Ford Freestar #MinivanLife!! Haha. My 4x4 Cummins Econoline van that I’m building will be stick shift because I just think you have more control with a stick shift and they’re just cooler.
@@GillansGarage definitely more control that’s why my tow rig is a zf6, it was an auto for a long time but the 6speed sure makes things nice when I’m real heavy
I know they call 'em E4 uh-oh D. Personally, I don't know why. The E4OD/4R100 is a stout unit. Just a C6 with overdrive.
Honestly it did really well other than getting hot but didn’t expect it to stay super cool because it doesn’t hve much for a cooler. I think it’s gonna be a great trans for what I want though

Need to put an intercooler on it. Nice truck. Definitely add an extra cooler for the trans.

I put 180cc full force injectors in mine but it was 5 speed and had ts6 tunner it would 17k of hay no problem and boost would hit 35 psi

S3xx turbo with a vgt exhaust housing. Should do wonders for that 7.3

Trust me, do not cummins swap it, to much hassle, 7.3 is just as powerful and just as reliable.
Need to get some baby swamps and upgrade that hpop when you do that electric fuel conversion.
I’ve got the electric fuel conversion on the way, injectors and hpop will have to wait

Great trucks but they needed to be a manual trans to do any real towing.
Man mine always get high on trans temp but never smells or anything if you find out the problem let me know
my e4od did that with the temp but still shifted fine for a bit, but long story short once the temp got that high it was too late and its now a ZF5 swapped 7.3 😂😂

Thanks. I’ve got the cooler ready to go along with doing 6an lines instead of the hard lines. Plus I’ve got a 444fab efuel setup and just put a pho hydra tuner on it.

I do not believe you are supposed to tow with overdrive. Am I wrong about that? Not trying to be a dick serious question
Flat ground for miles, it’s ok to tow in overdrive.but once you get into hills, your gonna want to lock it out.
Did you just say if it had 3.73 gears it’d be awful? Lol it’s be a lot better than 4.10s
3.73 would be awful for towing
